When I re-veneered my 1980 Scalas I found that just the veneer on the outside panels greatly stiffened them up. I wished I had documented it. But before the front edge could be flexed very easily….But now I cant even make them flex with my knee and both hands on the other side pulling in. So if your considering re-veneering this would be an extra benefit in doing it I think. I just used the iron on type veneer so was pretty easy and turned out awesome I think.

I would probably go with this INTEGRA https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/intdrx21/integra-drx-2.1-7.2-ch-x-80-watts-networking-a/v-receiver/1.html Cory also carries some AVRs also might call him also.

Cory is a registered dealer on the forum. his forum ID is Metropolislakeoutfitters ....but you can look him up on Klipsch FB page also.

Call Cory get some prices on the good stuff......should be able to get better depends on what your budget is.

Which ever you can afford is my motto...lol. But price no object I would buy new ones but I own older ones and would keep them cause I like them. I also did a lot of mods to them made the back board thicker , Rebuilt the crossover , put seals on the back plate.

https://www.glsaudio.com/GLS-Audio-Banana-Plug-Speaker-Connectors--Locking-Series-Generation-4--20-Pack_p_368.html I like these...can get them on amazon a little cheaper also I think.

AWESOME....get some furniture grippers for the hardwood floor that will help. Corners could be better but you got to do what you got yo do. I fastened a extension on one of my 72s to complete a corner. Rebuild the crossover and look out congrats. This is the extension I put on mine. You could also build false corners. If you want to know how to check the air tightness of woofer chamber message me its a bit drawn out to do it . But I did find leaks in mine probably from glue drying out.

If you just want stereo....go buy an old HK 430,630,730 I use to have a older big Yammy reciever my 430 at 25 watts blew it away in sound and power. Or a Dynaco ST-70 if you want tubes.

If your looking to upgrade save up and then call Cory. But those Heresy's are worth 400 easy. Not sure if better than your 5.5 though I have never heard the 5.5s.
-
I would not sell them if they were from my grand parents. Those are some great speakers. They may need a few repairs but well worth it. Once you hear them working properly you will be floored I bet. Nothing under 2000 can keep up with them buy a good reciever or borrow one. Accesories4less they have great ones around 150. But if you do sell them offer them on here first you will get fair price and someone who appreciates them.

I had some damaged veneer twice and got to keep both times. But probably not worth the trouble for them to pick up. But it helped veneer my K-Horns...lol -

That is weird I think you can still get new drivers for those. Might go ahead and get 2 just in case. Is that two different drivers or same one?

Midrange (?) buzzing on Cornwalls...how to fix?
ricktate replied to Chiliarches's topic in Technical/Restorations
Check the washer on the driver between it and the horn. Then check the screws that hold the horn to the motor board. It can also be the bug screen on the driver.
