  1. I have to agree with jimbo, just too many variables for blanket statements. All are great speakers and have their place. Room size, whether you plan on using a sub and how loud you listen generally play a big role in speaker selection for me. A smallish room with a sub up to medium volumes, Heresy's would be perfect. No sub same room, Forte or Cornwall would both be great choices with the Forte being my preference. Forte's have rear passives though which limit placement a bit. After years of trial and error I have concluded that the Chorus II is my favorite larger speaker. The Forte II is really close and possibly better in certain situations.
  2. I love my 250 II's! If you can grab them for that price I'd say jump on it, good luck!
  3. You can buy those new from discount retailers for about $850 each, no amp of course so this may very well be legit. http://save-on-audio.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=93
  4. Agreed. He would have swung at whatever color person was behind him (my opinion). I've also seen white men do unbelievably stupid things. I never once thought "there's a black guy punching a white girl" rather, what an idiot. I agree 100% but completely understand how some are quick to draw up comparisons after having the above mentioned incidents shoved down our throats for months on end. As our fearless leader once stated, "She could of been my daughter!"
  5. What in the heck was that all about? She didn't seem to do anything to deserve that! How the audience didn't just go nuts is beyond me, shameful!
  6. The surrounds look like my KSP-S6's in shape and driver configuration, maybe that's what he's talking about?
  7. I've had a single 12 next to a single 15 before and I thought the 12 did very good and sounded very close to the 15, just not as loud or as forceful. If you have the space for dual 12's I'd say that they would probably edge out a single 15. All the RSW's are very musical subs, best I've heard for just music in fact. In the right room they can work for theater too, good luck!
  8. Thanks for the input guys! I've got them listed local for $1000, I'll see if I get any bites. I did just get these and honestly I'm enjoying them more than I thought I would, been spoiled for so long with the Chorus line. I'll just have to suffer through these each day until they sell.. Initial impressions are that they are not as sensitive as my Chorus II's even though they're rated 1 db higher. I'd guess they're 3-5db quieter just based on where I need to set my volume. They also seem to need more power than the Chorus II's. Overall sound is very clear and detailed and not as bright as I've read about. I'd almost have to say that people driving these with any Receiver is not properly driving them. They say too much power blows woofers, too little blows tweeters. I'd guess the excess brightness that many experience may be due to lack of solid power.
  9. Just curious what a reasonable asking price is for a set of Cherry RF-7's? These are very nice with only a handful of very small nicks or marks in the finish. I cannot find any others for sale online anywhere to compare. I picked these up as part of a set and have been enjoying them for almost a week now but its time to move them along. Any input would be appreciated, thanks!
  10. Yes, you can always turn the bass down to match the rest of the system. I believe it is almost always better to have equipment just loping along rather than all out and strained just to barely be good enough, at least with amplifiers and subwoofers.
  11. I had a set of well broken in H-III's and that was my exact impression of them. They sounded lifeless, dull and congested compared to my Chorus II's.
  12. I would keep an eye out for a Carver AV-705x, 125x5 and THX certified. They usually pop up on eBay for around your budget shipped. Good luck!
  13. So it sounds like the k55v might have trouble making it all the way up to 6khz which is what I was worried about. I may still give it a try and report back my impressions. I do like the stock titanium drivers, just have the 55's laying around and noticed they fit on the Tractrix mid horn of the 250 II, thanks.
  14. The 250 II's come stock with 2" titanium drivers on the mid horns, just curious if the 55v's would sound better with these being used as home speakers. I've got the cabinets stripped and re-painted, going to add a final coat tomorrow and plan on reassembling them on Monday. I'm planning on installing a 55v in one and the stock 65 in the other and to see if there's a noticeable difference. I know the 55v will play low enough, was really more concerned whether it would play high enough. Crossover points are 700 & 6khz Thanks for the replies!
  15. Anyone here know the usable frequency range of a k-55v mid driver? I'm thinking about using a set in my KP-250 II's in place of the stock k-65's. Anybody ever done this? Compared these two drivers? I'm likely to try it out any way to hear for myself, just curious what others have to say, thanks.
  16. I would do the Cornwalls tight in each corner on the outsides with the Chorus II's just on the inside of the those. I've ran different pairs up front before, even ran a pair of KV 4's, one on top of each Chorus II playing in stereo and thought it sounded great. Things don't always have to match, some times the sum of two different sounds can create an excellent sound of its own. If you already have said speakers try out all combos and see what you like best.
  17. The 8" horn with 1.75 Titanium diaphragm, gives it a big, detailed sound, same as the RC 7 / RF 7
  18. I believe the KV 4 only came in black. I've had several and think they are great. Welcome and good luck in your search!
  19. I'd pull them about 8"-12" from the back and side walls in the corners toed in, should be plenty of bass out of those speakers.
  20. If you're happy with the center and just want more mid bass out of it try positioning a sub under the center or very close to center if possible. This would not be a LFE sub but an extension of the center channel itself. If possible run the speaker inputs from the receiver at full range into high level inputs on the sub and if the sub has speaker outputs run those to the center speaker. The sub would not have to be large or have an extremely low frequency output, down to about 24-30hz would work. Just an idea.
  21. I'm in the Seattle area and they hardly ever come up for sale around here. I've seen probably 100+ pairs of Forte come and go though, must of been big seller's back in the day.
  22. It took me just over a year and a half to locate my first set of Chorus II's. My search began about 10 years ago and I've only seen about 8 pairs ever come up for sale local to me in that time and I search often. Good luck in your search, The Chorus line are exceptional speakers and worth the wait.
