  1. I am in Colorado Springs but can drive to Denver. There is a KLF-C7 for $300 listed in Denver I am looking at.
  2. I think this is what we will go with if we can, the KV-3 is tiny in comparison to the Epics and I am afraid it will mess with the balance if the dialog is always trying to keep up with the mains.
  3. lol It is for my Mom and her significant other ie Boyfriend. They just bought a house together that has an ideal Home Theater room. Best Buy wanted to charge him $15,000 to set one up so I am stepping in to do it better for cheaper. (They actually charged him $30 for a basic fiber optic cable and tried to up sell him to a more expensive one). It actually works out pretty well, I get to pick out the gear and set it up and he pays for it. Then my Wife and I come over to vist and my Mom watches our 15 month old daughter while I get to play videogames. I have been extremely impressed with the CF-4s so far. They really slam you in the chest with the dual 12'' woofers. What do you have yours crossed over at? I put them at 60hz for now.
  4. I will order one soon and will let you know once its hooked up. I have it in an entertainment cabinet with the back open and smoked glass doors so the front push vent just circulated the air on the shelf too which is no good. Black would look nice for it as well, I have also heard of people putting washers on the inside of the knobs to make the lights not as bright as they can be distracting. These are cool amps and are a great value but there are definitely some quirks. I spent 3 hours the other day just trying to figure out how to put it in bridge mode which actually requires a 4 prong speakon cable set to a specific 1+ 2+ configuration...
  5. I just bought the INuke 1000 and it is horribly loud with the stock fan. I have heard good things about this fan and if you have it blow out the back instead of pushing through the front it will be quiet as well. Supposedly they are designed like that to be rack mounted and push air out the front into open space instead of the cramped area behind the rack and the wall. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KF7P34G?tag=vs-avsforum-convert-20
  6. I have heard that Heresys are voiced to be on the floor and you will get more bass response with slant risers instead of stands. Personally, I think the slant risers look cool and have kind of a 'concert stage monitor' look to them. That and there is less worry of them falling over.
  7. I am finishing building a home theater room for my Mom and thinking about putting in a center. So far here is the gear list: AVR: Denon AVR-X2300W Mains: Klipsch CF-4 Surrounds: Klipsch KSB 1.1 Sub: Dayton Reference HO 15'' Sub Amp: Inuke 1000 I am currently running a phantom center but the dialog is pulling to the side i am sitting. What do you guys recommend for a center? There is a KLF C7 and a KV-3 on our local ads. The KLF is bigger but the KV-3 will probably have a better voice match. Will the KV-3 keep up with the massive CF-4 mains?
  8. I have heard this as well. The XBone is average for a 4k player but nearly as good as a dedicated player. Also, if you are using an Xbox make sure to set the audio to bitstream out. The default is to have the xbox process the audio and it can only do Dolby 5.1.
  9. Wow! I had it in my head they were probably black painted and beat up like you usually see from club or commercial venues. Those are very nice.
  10. When I bought my LaScalas the guy had two sets for sale. I brought my quality DAC and amp to demo the Raw Birch ones. We listened to music for about 20 min to check them out before carrying the set to my car. Once we got it done he said, "What did you have that hooked to, a DAC? Yeah I am definitely not selling that second pair."
  11. Beautiful! I did have a question that you will probably know the answer to. For Veneering the plywood on Heresy's do you need to balance veneer the panels or are they thick enough to not have to worry about warping? I actually just lost out on a $100 set of Industrial Heresy's on craigslist that I was thinking about doing a Veneer job on. Something else will pop up soon enough though.
  12. I think the other issue is most younger people who are into HT systems are at least casual gamers and as such have an Xbox ONE which has a built in 4K player. Why pay extra for very incremental improvement especially now that the XBONE has bit steam audio. Oh yeah and...
  13. I personally would take the 5.5 over the 5.2. In my opinion the KG 5.5 is one of the hidden gems of the Klipsch lineup. It has the dual powered woofers instead of a passive and is taller to get the horn closer to ear level. Crites makes titanium tweeter diaphragms for them as well: https://critesspeakers.com/klipsch_tweeters.html
  14. That and the new Samsung or Iphone or whatever ads that have the new, "Turn your face into an emoji" or "Use your face as a password" features that most certainly take your facial recognition data and ship it off to God knows where. On a side note, when we lived in Utah our well ran dry during the summer partly because the NSA datacenter in Bluffdale sucked the water table down to cool the servers.
  15. Those look really good in that Klipsch showroom.
  16. That is crazy. Thank God you guys are all Ok. At least when you set up your new system you can do some in-wall wiring to clean up your cables. When you get everything set up again, you may have to put on Pulp Fiction for good measure.
  17. Usually these kind of bundle deals are a rip off but the more I look into it the more this actually looks like a pretty good deal. LaScalas usually go for around $1,000 to $1,400 and that sub is about $1,500 new plus some extra change for the amps and conditioner.
  18. It looks like it was sold or taken down. They were never very clear in the ad on the exact condition of these. Was one speaker just missing the mid horn or the whole cab as well?
  19. These are great speakers, they have a very 'Open' sound. $400 is too much. For whatever reason the later KG series ends up selling cheaper. I would think more like $300 for the top end on these and $350 for the 5.5's.
  20. Dayton Audio flat pack kits are probably your best bang for the buck. We are building one for my Mom right now and its really easy to put together. I would go with 2 of these: https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-18-reference-series-ho-subwoofer-and-cabinet-bundle--300-7094 And this amp: https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-NU3000-BEHRINGER-iNUKE/dp/B00LGNFAW8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1522425268&sr=8-3&keywords=inuke You will be hard pressed to able to move more air for the price.
  21. If I lived in MN i would actually be more than happy to show up with $200 to pick these up, stop by Lowes on the way home to grab some Satin Black spray paint and put these in my Garage. You could build a false wall for your home theater and stick them behind some AT fabric. You could even spray pain them in a camo pattern, grab a 12v battery off ebay and a Class D amp and have a pretty bad a** speakers system you can throw in the back of your truck for tailgating, BBQs, raves in the woods etc. Are they worth ever trying to clean up to be in your living room? Definitely not. Are they super cheap LaScalas that you can have fun with? Hell yeah!
  22. This is what I would use it for as well. Something nice tucked away in a corner in a living room or dining room to play music for guests. The top hat is even big enough to hide a small Class D amp and mono-summing network to keep it looking clean. I would build a small box on top with a volume switch and a holder for a smaller tablet that will run into a little DAC like a Firefly then a Class D amp. The tablet will just run Spotify and guests could pick whatever music. Unfortunately, I dont have a good corner or $500 extra dollars.
  23. Its funny, I came here to post this but you beat me to it. It looks like the guy has some JBL horns and Selenium compression drivers in the photo background, he is probably an addict like us.
  24. I would go with this. I have the Ti diaghrams in my 5.5s and like them as well. I would focus on making sure you have a good DAC and amp before doing too much to the speakers though.
