  1. We don't have such nice sunsets here this time of the year. Only this
  2. Nothing fancy with my interconnects, I have not used fancy cables so far. But I have noticed a change when replacing a Chord C-line interconnects with VanDenHull Name between my CD player and a preamp. The Name did bring a bit more dynamics and a certain sense of more harmony in the reproduction. Hard to explain, but it is a change and it is a good one. Nothing much but it is evident.
  3. That is very sad to read. I hope you all find the strength to deal with such bad situation. I did not quite catch if your Son-In-Law had covid before or if he was vaccinated. There is always a chance the infection can go bad, even among young and healthy people. Especially if their immune system had not a chance to adapt to the virus. I know of two twin brothers 17 years old, sportsmen, who barely survived. One is learning to speak and walk again, and the other is also in very bad condition.
  4. Try bass traps in all corners of the room if you can.
  5. Nice story KT88. I am in a similar position. Roy answered to me very soon after I placed a message. I thank him for that. He redirected me to nice guy in Pro dpt. However, covid hit and we are stuck for more than two years now. I am still patiently waiting if situation get better and still have hope that it will resolve to my satisfaction.
  6. Do fill the stands with sand, but not fully. Leave a bit of air at the top.
  7. What are the speaker stands made of? I seems like they might vibrate.
  8. Haven't seen what fluids are you using now with the machine? Best to use original always. I have used the LP cleaning service of a local record shop for a long time, and the owner said not to use any other cleaning fluid but the originals.
  9. That is how I received my turntable. It fit into the foam pieces like a glove. And it was very stable inside that box for transportation.
  10. I have to say that after Covid hit me I haven't touched the beer much. Simply does not taste that good. Everything changed and my tolerance for alcohol has gone down quite a bit.
  11. Opera Prima speakers hand made in Italy, mine are No 531. 91dB sensitivity, not bad for such a small bookshelve. These were discounted, so I jumped on them for my small room setup. I auditioned them in audioshop and these were better than anything I have heard in this price range.
  12. Vinyl still has a life in my opinion. Pops and clicks are inevitable but can be kept under control. Bad source will always be a bad source. A lot of negative opinion regarding LPs is connected with having heard bad or bellow average systems. Nothing new saying that vinyl require some involvement. When I first heard my 40 years old Philips GA 212 with NOS stylus connected directly to Onkyo stereo receiver phono input I was very disappointed. After that introduced was a good phono amplifier in between the two. Much better. Than Installed Ortofon 2M red cartridge. Better, but after a few months I have realized that alignment was not perfect. After realigning the cartridge by myself I believe I have reached the reasonable sonic output of this setup. It is decent but my ears told me the sound could be further improved. Decided that I wont quit on vinyl and I purchased decent turntable with a decent MC cartridge, aligned by the technicians in the factory. Everything else remained the same. Again good amount of improvement. I feel no need for much improvements after this, but of course there is room for that in the future. To put things in perspective, this vinyl setup can be compared with good digital setup and at the same time tick all the boxes that I like in vinyl.
  13. Expecting more information abut them in following days😎
  14. Just wandering... if doors to the cabinets could be taken off during the listening and put aside, that could help the spread of the sound in the room and possibly improve the overall music presentation. The hinges of the cabinet doors probably should be changed but that is a minor inconvenience.
  15. Sunset in black&white Scanned Agfa APX400 35mm film, intention was to see what that film can do in such condition with a sharp lens (Nikkor 105mm F2 DC)
  16. Currently using Musical Fidelity M1SDAC as my preamp for 2-channel. Bought it as headphone amp to drive Beyedynamics, but it has analogue and digital inputs as well as a very good bluetooth. So far so good.
  17. I guess that might be true and confirmed by my ears also. What bass is left here, it is tight and articulate. The rest of the spectrum ranging from mid to high freqs might be described in audiophile words as "clinical" and more "accurate". So, that would be a confirmation of NC400s being a laboratory amp, they reveal the true nature of a speaker.
  18. I jumped and got me the DIY NC400 monoblocks two months ago, figured if I am going for them than it better be fast before prices go up. So far so good. I could be imagining but after some time they got a bit more polite overall, not so edgy as they were at the beginning. Will have to try them with some more efficient speakers. They seem to be somewhat brighter sounding than my other AB class amps.
  19. I do not see what is exactly your problem from the description. If the floor is not completely flat and your speakers wobble on it, than you might consider some sort of adjusting feet under your speakers. Hight adjusting spikes work for me. If your intention is to raise the speakers and prevent them to wobble, you could build riser that is closed from four sides and the top. Again, adjusting feet could be build in underneath such riser, so you can have both. I have used rubber math under my speakers with mixed results sound wise. They usually muddied the sound.
  20. @MicroMara; how would you elaborate the differences between ordinary power cable that usually comes with newly purchased devices and the power cables that are sold separately? What are benefits when buying a separate power cable in general? Can you share your thoughts about that?
  21. My vintage Akai AM 2850 also has mid control. On the other hand Kenwood C1 preamp does not, but its bass and treble controls are very usable so I do not have a need for mid control in that unit.
  22. I auditioned a system with one of these two days ago. Interesting streamer. Nice to look at and easy to operate.
  23. I have not heard XLI800, which measured bad on that forum. Nor I have heard XLS1502, which measured noticeably better. Dave A has badly measured amps in a well dialed highly sensitive system. And knowing his craftsmanship from this forum, I just value the opinion he has to offer.
