  1. The Doric style columns are spectacular and a great touch. Being a Mason I enjoy such things.
  2. Very good points indeed. The pair of you sound like "glass half full" guys; the best way to be. You are a good friend to him.
  3. I should imagine he would have quite liked them. He was an engineer and a groundbreaking one at that. Guys like that are always looking to the future, be it new concepts, new materials as well as having an awareness of the world around them, for example different lifestyles (the rise of the condo etc). Just as Henry Ford didn't spend his life tinkering with a more refined Model T, I would bet that PWK would have been intrigued and challenged with the new materials and possibilities.
  4. I have never heard of rooster fish, pretty impressive. The only salt water fishing I've ever done was up on the coast for char many years ago.
  5. A very nice and well informed guy. I have a standing offer to hear his system (and modded Hereseys), whenever I find myself in Calgary. Might actually be able to do it this June.
  6. We are up in Pike and lake trout country. A lot of whitefish and a few rivers with grayling.
  7. CDs for me; love the sound of my Marantz 6005.
  8. It is very popular here in aYellowknife. All sorts of people ride them to work all winter long regardless of temps.
  9. I have been driving an 08 Sahara Wrangler since I bought it new. I live in Canada's sub arctic with road conditions worse than just about anywhere and it has never let me down.
  10. That is something that never occurred to me. Living where I do, all my speakers were purchased online from the south and shipped up. Must have been lucky. Going to keep this in mind in the future as I'm hoping to either get a pair of RF7 IIs or P17Bs at some point down the road.
  11. I'm a bit biased and have a "thing" for NAD and or Marantz. Don't think you can go wrong with either.
  12. Perhaps the RF7 IIs could be improved with the new RP horn.
  13. How do they compare to the RB61 IIs? It has been the balance that I like about these.
  14. That's funny... Just for giggles there are LaScalas being used as surrounds as well. It can be done of course, although the numbers of people with rooms large enough to accommodate such setups are a minority. For the tens of thousands (probably more), who reside in condos and smaller spaces they are not practible. Many (myself included), have space for a single system which must double duty as a two channel music system part time and handle TV/movies the rest of the time.
  15. Please, NO! They are too fragile. The Heresy line are tanks and very robust. What model Heresy? Original, a II or III? Bruce They were IIs. Just didn't do it for me, thought they would as I usually prefer a three way.
  16. I hear you and agree. I prefer my reference to the Heresy by a long shot. I have enjoyed KHorns in a very large room but they are far from suitable for my living space. Have been hearing good things about the new RP line of stand mounts especially when compared to the Palladium.
  17. Very glad to have read this thread. I was going to ask the same question. The heart of my modest system is a Marantz AVR. Sounds great to these ears but I have been considering adding a tube amp for use with my pre outs for two channel listening. From what I am reading it should work.
  18. Not old but trending, my 2008 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. The perfect vehicle up here in the north. Our roads aren't the best and even worse in the winter- which is about six months here. Add in the bonuses they never really change looks, and if maintained can go for years. As well as the fact that I have only racked up 53k kilometres on a vehicle long paid for...
  19. Beautiful! A pair of Belles are a life long dream.
  20. Sounds like a pretty nice set up to me. You may want to hear the RF7IIs. I am curious about them myself.
  21. Looks like a prototype for a Palladium Heresey.
  22. Good point, I don't currently haven't there - more of a sub cable issue than anything else. I have only been here a month and a half, still experimenting with the room. I'll try it out.
  23. Bookshelf speakers. I currently use RB61 IIs with a down firing Klipsch sub I do have a sweet little corner jut out (about four feet), right in my main listening area which is right inline with my front mains.
  24. Do they work well with stand mounts? I would love a horn sub but don't want to be overpowered by it.
