  1. I live near Lake Tahoe and one of my goals is to take my young daughter camping. I want her to see the heavens without any pollution of city lights and along with that a really nice telescope. Oh and on the menu? Smore's baby! I miss that.
  2. I'll definitely give this a listen when I have time to myself. Thanks.
  3. I have two that I sent off. My Sony STR 7055 (sent back TWICE as grimlins popped up) and Marantz 2500. The Marantz is being done by Mr. Buckner. He has several under his belt and some outstanding threads. It's certainly not a job for the faint of heart. http://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/marantz-2600-refurb-thread.697921/ The Sony is being done by Mr. Bergstrom. http://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/new-marantz-2500-transformer.724686/page-2#post-9842381 Knows his stuff! Great guy to deal with. Now with the crossovers in the hands of Al (excited baby!) my living room is silent. Luckily my bedroom one is still going. Woohoo!
  4. Thank you! Anyway excited to see the quality & hear the difference. Woohoo. Has anyone else opted to just do an AA rebuild? This is a short stop gap measure, preventive maintenance if you will as the cans may leak out.
  5. Might start looking here... http://www.alkeng.com/klipsch I'm in the same boat as you and sent in my set to have them rebuilt.
  6. Oops. Didn't realize that it was. Dang it! Mods a little help moving this to the proper forum. Thanks.
  7. Talk to me about carbs! Ayaaaa. I come from the islands and WE LOVE carbs and it's killing me to cut back. However, I have substituted brown rice with white rice and I now like the taste of the nutty brown rice . The biggest change I've added was simply walking. I work nights and after dropping my daughter off at school I immediately go walking in the cool mornings 2-5 miles. No race and it seems to have helped my stress level too. In the evenings on the weekends, I go for a nightly walk also not as far, maybe a half mile around the block after dinner. Like I said, Keep on step'n.
  8. Sent off to Al yesterday as a birthday present to myself to have them rebuilt. In a perfect world I'd like to buy the same oil in cans unfortunately that's not possible. I'll update this when I get them & broken in. Coincidentally that should be around the time I get my newly restored receiver back. Should be interesting to hear how different the sound will be.
  9. I was commuting to work one day and on the freeway next to me was a guy on a motorcycle. Doing 70 mph he pops a wheelie to stand up and shake his legs & back out. I just shook my head.
  10. BSM, Man, wishing you the best. Keep your head up. I had a gentle talk to by my doctor and it was enough to dedicate myself to lose 40lbs. I'm 12# into that 40 goal. Feel good so far don't miss the sugar. Unfortunately, I still have high cholesterol & blood sugar so it'll take me awhile turn this ship around. So keep step'n. Keep fighting & actively make healthy changes where you can where it'll be no skin off you if it disappeared. For me it was sugar. No biggie. Prayers to you.
  11. Itlike to have this.... https://youtu.be/up79t-KcT1M Or this...... https://youtu.be/5L8aMI2dwf4
  12. Without clicking on it I know who you speak of. After inquiring about his gear he confused me with someone else and never let go. Called me every name in the book as well as my wife & mother names not mentionable here. Pissed me off. I'd like to take a bat to this guy's hands regardless of his condition. You don't talk to people like that. Period.
  13. This getting a jump on the competition is ridiculous. Although I did read that a major real estate firm in the Midwest is shutting down 70+ malls this year for Thanksgiving to allow employees to be with their families. Good on them. They'll have the traditional "black Friday" opening in the morning.
  14. ^^^What he said. I have a Sony STR 7055 rated @35 wpc running my Belle's and the synergy between them is excellent. Very musical. Luckily the Belle's are highly sensitive at 104 db so one doesn't need a mega monster watt receiver to drive them. Look at Sony STR 7055 & 7045 or even Realistic 2100 and the like to drive them. Those are what I have experience with. (I have a Marantz 2500 but that's a bit overkill) But the most MUSICAL of them are the Sony's family of receivers by far especially after having one fully recapped & restored. The engineers that built those old Sony receivers knew what good sound was and more than one person has said they showed their Monster receivers out the door after listening to a Sony. Power isn't everything. My Sony EASILY bested the Realistic 2100D & a "new" modern Yamaha Rx 777. Good luck.
  15. Nice job. That's a pure coastal car. Bring it over to California & I'll be glad to make a part 2 for you. Returned with a full tank of gas of course.
  16. Congrats on your pickup. Nice looking unit. While I don't have any experience to add never having owned a Kenwood, I will say it's amazing how little power one needs to run Klipsch speakers.
  17. Don't know where your located. But another member on different forum posted this... https://jackson.craigslist.org/ele/5800861794.html Good luck. Hopefully it's close to you.
  18. Congrats on your old "new" friend. I had a similar quandary debating whether I should have my Sony STR 7055 recapped. $400 and weeks later I can subjectively say it was money well spent and I have no regrets. However, I also bought a NIB Sony STR 7045 a model lower and that one sounds VERY similar to the recapped one. The only are that the new restored one shines is in bass management. The attack, decay and the way it handles "double bass tones" has a huge lead over the non recapped model. I attribute that to the new power supplies. I also have a Marantz being restored and am looking forward to hearing it.
  19. For that type of money honestly I'd get a Marantz 2600, 2500, 2385 receiver. Specs are roughly the same and you get a whopping true 330, 250 and 185 wpc respectively with a bonus of a tuner. You'll also have your toroidal transformer. Win/win. Let me also throw in the Pioneer 1980 @ 270 wpc. Can't think of many speakers that wouldn't bend to that kind of power. Then add a dac to your liking.
  20. Anyone in the Los Angeles Ontario area? Looking for a pick up and send via FedEx ex. Please & Thaka-uz
  21. Out, out , out. Time to move. Have the landlord release you from the lease and vamoose to CO. Otherwise your pouring "good" money towards bad. I don't necessarily mean actual $$$$ but your time to gather water, shower, laundry, and more importantly STRESS on your wife. She may not show it being mentally tough but I assure you the body will. At this moment HER well being and that of the child should be priority #1. I'd be demanding either hotel room till this is fixed or break the lease & get out of Dodge. Those are the only two options for the landlord.
  22. Wow sorry to hear this. The one thing my wife & I agree on is how nice the Belle's sound. Of course I have the stock crossovers and non of this issue of the brightness associated with new crossovers. I had my Sony STR 7055 recapped and right off the bat I noticed how much tighter the bass was, mids were great and the highs were fantastic. However, it was bright were before the recap it wasn't. A little adjustment of the treble and now it is absolutely wonderful. Makes me pause a bit and will keep the stock crossovers for a bit as I'm afraid I'll run into the same issue as you. Where I was able to physically turn down the treble and tame it better I don't see that with new crossovers. Unless they have some sort of dial.
