  1. Modified Forte I vs RP 8000fII ? . Modified is a big red flag for me , because you just don’t know what you’ve got , that’s the bottom line . I really like the Forte I , to me never harsh , maybe a little too much bass with some music , (for my taste) . I’ve got the Identical cousin version of the 8000’s the RP280F , Side by side they stand up very nicely to the HeresyII , slight edge to Heresy for their warmer smoother presentation.I’d say Forte and 8000’s are both very good , it comes down to personal preference. My preference would probably be Forte by a slim margin.🤓
  2. Yea , I see the new room, I like it .I’d rather be a little too close (together) than too far apart . I hate a hole in the middle , seems like acceptable separation . Closer, farther , personal preference to my way of thinking, and you will likely adjust quickly to the new geometry.Have fun 🤓
  3. Looks like a very nice room for the Forte’s , most people are much more compromised than you are , I don’t see anything wrong at all . The Forte IV’s are an awesome speaker , can’t go wrong with that choice . Welcome to the forum 🤓
  4. When visiting my grandma as a little kid in West Virginia, us kids where told up front about not going into grandma’s fancy room. Grams had collected a roomful of little treasures and she displayed them proudly in that room ,and she was determined to protect them .The room was off limits, and even as a kid we all respected that . I agree about not putting stuff on expense speakers, but try telling that to your guests or your kids friends , What’s so wrong with a guy simply wanting to protect his beautiful new Lascala speakers ? Personally I kinda like to hear a guy wanting to protect them , it shows respect for the product and seems like a worthwhile goal to me .
  5. I think the glass tops are a great idea , most used heritage speakers being sold today are damaged with water stains or just plain banged up 🤷 . Nothing wrong with trying to keep your new Klipsch speakers in pristine condition. Welcome to the forum 🤓
  6. RF7III and RP8000 speakers are really good speakers , but speakers with small distances between drivers , like coaxial speakers in particular ,may hold some advantage for nearfield listeners. Move away from nearfield and problems go away .
  7. A good tapered pipe thread should screw into a fitting about 2 /1/2 turns by hand (ideally).Threads are sometimes improperly cut overly deep or too shallow, this effects how many turns necessary until the fitting tightens . a much too shallow cut would prevent the pipe from starting. If it seems too tight to start ,test it by screwing it into a steel fitting that you may have laying around , Also the first thread could be bad ? a file would fix that , good luck 🤓
  8. very nice work , and the room looks great🤓
  9. A demonstration of genius , is that album 🤓
  10. I’ve got a set of AK2 Khorns , and I’m perfectly happy with their bass output with music, but that’s my opinion based on the music that I listen too . My grandfather enjoyed pipe organ music and brought a cd over one time ,he was not impressed with my big speakers frequency response .My Khorns are down probably 3 db at 40 hz and down 6 db at 35hz , but I’m happy with that ,because they never sound too thick down low . To me 35 flat sounds too thick and bloated on a great deal of music. I love my Khorns ,but the Khorn is not a powerhouse down low , however to me, their just right for most music. Theater is different , from my experience 25 hz flat gets the job done , I can be very flat to 20 at my seating position , but it seems to add little compared to 25 hz flat .Having said this , I usually prefer a few db roll off at 35 hz and bellow for movies .🤓
  11. Yea, It’s amazing how we all perceive sound differently ,and how our preferences to sound quality can evolve over time. For example when I was younger, I kinda liked an exaggerated top end, it seemed to add detail to the music, now I prefer a more balanced sound. Another example would be what happened the other day when I ran into the ex old lady,(just couldn’t shake her) I immediately noticed that her once angelic voice, now projects a shouty , strident ,just plain annoying quality, funny how I didn’t notice this years ago.🤷I’m sure others would disagree with my assessment , and many would even love the sound of her voice😳 ,but I’ve moved on , just not my style anymore 🤓
  12. I ran two centers a while back ,they flanked a big TV set , their was just no room at the traditional center position .It worked pretty well , way better than a fantom center . It could be an option for lots of people, but I think that it is viewed by many ( unfortunately ) as unorthodox , and therefore not a viable option. Seven RP8000f great idea 🤓
  13. Klipschorns are still relevant ,bought mine new in 1985 , their my most prized possession , not a scratch on them , 100 percent stock , still sounding awesome and still kicking butt.
  14. Way different speakers , the Jubilee is a speaker that attracts the kind of owner that is searching for the biggest ,baddest, loudest, most outrageous , and best sounding speaker available . A speaker that can fill a very large room with no bad seat in the house, and with their extreme sensitivity, they can send unwanted guests into cardiac arrest, while the JBL would hardly register a blip on an EKG .The JBL is not in any way a similar speaker to the Jubilee with its 94 db claimed sensitivity , I know what 94 is in a larger sized room , and I know what 250 hp feels like in a car vs the 640 in my car . The JBL is a fine speaker, I’ve heard the smaller version with the 120 hp engine , I mean with the 12 inch woofer . Completely different category of speaker.
  15. If you like your Jubilee’s, then the new Klipsch Lascala would be a logical downsize replacement, the JBL is going to take you in another direction , so I’d listen to them very closely before you give up on the biggest Klipsch sound .🤓
  16. It looks like it could be really dangerous being a robber , poor bastard🤓
  17. BTW , good looking stands , try them out without any fill first , so that you can gives us your thoughts as to any change in sound. Welcome to the forum 🤓
  18. As you can see most of us on the forum are partial to the heritage line , including myself. A few years back I bought a pair of RP 280f and compared them with my Heresy II ‘s over a period of time , and I thought they compared pretty favorably to the Heresy , RP had lower bass response , more detailed high’s, similar sensitivity ,a darn good sounding speaker , Eventually I concluded that I preferred the warmer smoother sound of the Heresy , and that they just sounded a bit more satisfying to my ear , but Undoubtedly others would disagree and prefer the RP . On the other hand the larger Heritage Lascala and Khorn ,which I had in a different room , clearly provided a different presentation altogether, bigger scale, dynamics, whatever, the RP’s don’t live in the same world as those .
  19. Cantilevered designs can promote resonance , as they will deflect at four times the rate of a boxed design ,think of the way a tuning fork works 🤓
  20. The Klipsch RP-8000f is a outstanding speaker, offered at a great price . They absolutely rival much more expensive speakers, I’m sure they will sound great with your tubes . Welcome to the forum 🤓
  21. Surround Quartets with 12 inch risers and atmospheric fill , good result . 🤓
  22. Nice set up , I love the Heresy , used one as center for my Khorns a long while ago, it offered a very good timbre match , but dynamic qualities made them a bit less than a perfect match for my taste. It was only when I went Lascala center that I was truly satisfied , not to discount your opinion at all , Heresy does work.🤓
  23. Go with Lascala or another Bell , unfortunately they are the only speakers that will offer you a no compromise center . Using any thing else is like settling for the Camaro instead of the Vette , or like taking the kids to a petting zoo instead of Disney World , you can put anything in there as center ,but a Bell center ( or Lascala ) is about as good as home theater gets , and your 2/3’s there right now .🤓
  24. Also to add to my post , I have found that a speaker that plays 35 hz flat , can at times sound a bit bloated on some music , so my personal preference is a gentle down slope to about -4 at 35 hz for music . Lots of members will definitely not agree on this , just my personal observation.🤓
