Heritage_Head
Im about 70/30 movies/music. me but usually when I listen to music I use PLXii music so its mostly 2 channel. sometimes I'll switch it around and play all 7.2 channels or music video setting on receiver utilizing multichannel. But from what I've read just making the upgrade to the RF 7 I I HT will be such an upgrade I'll have a smile on my face continuously anyway The side speaker type is an on going debate. Depending how close your side speakers are can make the difference. The RS line are really good when the speakers are placed close to the lp. RF or RB imo won't be a great choice if they are really close to the lp. If the room is huge and the sides are like 15ft away then those RF and RB might be the best choice. They need room to image and can't do it from 5ft away like the RS can. The RS is not a speaker you point at when it's on. The sound comes from all directions. And that's not for everyone's taste. Some don't like that and want the basic right at you type. Edited January 4, 2014 by reference_head

timdog5000
Thanks Ref, that really helps. my LP is 9 feet on one side and seven on the other so Im sure thats way too close for RF. I seen Youthman had a nice looking set for sale but he decided to keep them they must be good speakers. I'll probably go with RB 81 for the rear surrounds though they are more like 12-13 feet away from LP.
MichaelandKlipsch
My babies Not fully hooked up yet (this weekend will be their first go) paired with an Anthem D1Pre and Anthem P2amp Project Dock Box HIfI and a newly purchased PS4. 100% music listening through the RF-7iis. The PS4 is in the AV rack but routed straight to the 70” Elite LED. Edited January 8, 2014 by MichaelandKlipsch

bobdit
Those are beautiful speakers. Love the matching wood floor. Have you tried them in the corners toeing in? They may sound better further apart, just a thought.

MichaelandKlipsch
No RC-64II plans in the future just 2 Channel Music only. I haven’t quite settled on the final location. I don’t think I will Toe them in as I don’t have a central Listening position I sit in this room I usually am walking around and the couches are on the sides. Right now they are about 12” off the back wall and I will try placement in the two corners as well. These are a little older photos from a couple months ago. The right corner now is the resting spot of a Cherry AV center housing the equipment. I have Run the Speaker cables through the wall and floor (this is the second floor of the home) and the power cord for the amp to a dedicated 20 amp circuit in the garage. I have an option to move them a little if needed. Haven’t heard them yet. Took a little while to hunt down the equipment. Will have them up and running Saturday. I have caught myself staring at them while watching tv a lot.
derrickdj1
I have my RF 7's fairly close to the wall but, they are xo at 80 and paired with a couple of subs. I experimented with wall distance and this seems pretty good for music.
Heritage_Head
I think they will be ok 12" out. With them being away from corners it might be a good thing having them close to the wall. Mine are out more but are in corners.
derrickdj1
Wall distance is more important with the speakers set to large due to LF coming from the port.
MichaelandKlipsch
These will def be set to large as there will be no sub. They are about 3-4 ft from the two corners I'm thinking in the open floorpksn of the home they should sound nice here's hoping ill know Saturday morning

Electricmanscott
Anybody here go from an Onkyo 818 to a Marantz 7008? Thinking of doing this. Interested in the Sub EQ on the Marantz for dual subs. Going to pick up another PSA XS15 sub.
derrickdj1
Dual Sub EQ has some problems with Audyssey. It may not give you the best bass for a HT. It may be better in many cases to calibrate all the subs has one unit. It may be a good ideal to demo the unit with a good return policy. I will try and find the room reponse graphs than I seen on the net concerning this topic. Edited January 10, 2014 by derrickdj1
