fini
People Magazine reports Campbell has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He'll be doing a farewell retirement tour, and releasing a new album in August. I always liked GC, through all his ups and downs. He's an amazing guitarist, and I loved his late 60s/ early 70s TV show, The Goodtime Hour. Best wishes for him and his family. http://www.billboard.com/news/glen-campbell-diagnosed-with-alzheimer-s-1005247432.story#/news/glen-campbell-diagnosed-with-alzheimer-s-1005247432.story
oldtimer
He has alzheimer's through the canyons of his mind....sorry just could not resist. It is a sad disease for anyone to get, I have seen it up close and personal.
mustang guy
I was an ornery kid. He visited the area once and I jumped (way) up and messed up his hair. What the heck was I thinking? Too bad about old Glen

BigStewMan
this is very sad news. I love Glen Campbell. He is an incredible guitarist. Back in the 60s, he was one of the most sought after session musicians in the business, and was part of the famed Wrecking Crew (a group of the best session musicians which included carol kaye on bass). I will catch his show if he's comes near socal for sure.

Groomlakearea51
Shame about the Alzheimer's; Wichita Lineman was always a favorite of my wife (who hails from Little Rock).
oscarsear
One trait often demonstrated in Alzheimer's is that music remains as a functional pathway for interaction. In other words a person in the advanced stages of the disease will be non communicative using regular speech, but if you sing a song they once knew they will perk up and sing right along and physically react with their hands or arms and some will dance. It is a therapy approach I've seen successfully used many times. I am also a fan of GC. Alzheimer's is a tragic disease.
Mallette
That's sad to hear, I did not know he was from Arkansas. His most common introduction in the early years was "Hi, folks. I'm Glen Campbell from DEElight Arkansaw!" Dave
Marvel
He did a rendition of Amazing Grace with bagpipes and vocals (symphony as background). As he said when he grabbed the bagpipes... " you are all wondering... will his talent ever beign?" There are some great videos on YT, including some 2008 vids. Bruce

picky
"Hi, I'm Glen C.........?" What a shame. I wouldn't wish this horrible disease on anyone.
Daddy Dee
GC's farewell tour will have one night here in Forrest City. One note in the paper asked the understanding of concert attendees if Glen can't remember all the words to the songs he is singing. sad. Boxx
Yes, very sad to hear about Glen C. Thinking of his TV show also reminds me of the late John Hartford... what a talent..
gnatnoop
My neighbors directly across the street from me, the wife has altzheimers, it is not something you want to see. i think it is one of worst ways to go, not painful but, the abyss.... i want to go peacefully, in my sleep, like my grandfather, not in terror and screaming like his passengers..... sorry lord for that, please forgive me....
