Really feel sorry for her working life, 6Mo stint on the Cruise ship and then Dublin for a months vacation, and only 26.

many people don't realize how much work a cruise ship staff does...long hours and pretty much everyday for their contract.

She has a psyc degree, she is a babysitter on the boat along with 6 other girls.

Kids ages average 10, works a couple hrs a day.

Cry me a river, she has it MADE.

That position seems to have it much better than the food/drink servers for instance.  I was talking to one of them on my cruise and she said that she worked seven days a week. She was from Russia and said she cried when she first started...after working all day for an entire month, her pay check was in the $500s

Cruise Line figures they're going to make up the difference from passenger's tips.

When i retired from the Coast Guard, i had a job offer from a Cruise Line...former boss is Senior VP.  Turned it down due to heavy worldwide travel. I would have been meeting the fleet wherever in the world they were when the ship's inspection was due. Ride the ship a few days, while conducting the environmental compliance audit -- then fly on to the next one.  Would have been a decent paycheck, and being part of the corporate staff wouldn't have had to kill myself like many of the ship staff; but, all that travel wasn't going to jive with what was going on in my life at the time.

Afternoon gabg

Good Nap, now let's see what i can do before it gets 100+.

Coffee Run, we are out of some staples here, cannot have that.

That means ill need to muster up the energy to shave for the first time in 4 days, well hell it's worth the work i guess.

Sometimes this retirement can be hell.

evening guys, Setting back chilling out with tunes, Tony Joe White sounding extremely nice tonight, I think the Metrum is coming around nicely. went into Jriver and reset all the tweaks to flat then boosted the bass only about 2.5 db at the 60hz and I gotta say I am missing the Havana a lot less

I was regretting the sale as the metrum did not seem to be coming around to the NOS (Non Over Sampling) sound I wanted, I can say without a doubt that the reports of the Metrum sounding hot when new are true, but tonight it is sounding much better, I have put around 40 hours on it past the original owners 70 hours for a total of about 110 hours

this has nothing to do with getting used to the sound sig of metrum, I am sensitive to the hot sound and fatigue sets in fast. No Fatigue tells me it has mellowed on the HOT sound  :D

Was afraid of that. We both could use some "sweet summer rain" that pours & actually cools things down; instead of just making the humidity worse...
do you ever get used to the humidity?  I’ve never lived in a high humidity region and all during my coast guard life, i avoided them…reeks havoc with my Asthma.  Always wondered if it just becomes “normal” to those living there?

Never.  You just deal with it.

well that’s sucks…not for me, i’m not there.  Humidity is a factor in my travel plans though.  Spent four days on Waikiki--no problem; went to the other side of the island and after a couple hours I could already feel my lungs getting mad at me.

would love to visit the south; but, won’t do it during summer.

Guessing maybe fall or winter is the best?

Refrigerated Air for me.

December is a good time to visit New Orleans; just beat the Sugar Bowl crowd...

Morning gang, its been a while since I had posted on a weekday.  Thought since I was up earlier than normal, I would drop in and say hi.  I have to go in and inspect one of these for a rent.

z13570.jpg

They are Genie Z135 aerial lifts, have 4 of these in our fleet, 2 are on rent out west, and the 2 are down in the shop for repairs.  So we sub rent from a national company that gives us good rates.  It was delivered late last night, so I have to go in and inspect it and make sure it is up to our standard before sending it to the customer.

I enjoy drinking hot coffee on a hot humid day, yesterday was 101 with the index at 7 p.m. I am loving it.

Well got to run, everyone take care.

It keeps your pores clean for sure.

I've lived here for 35 years and it just seems normal to me.  When I lived in upstate NY the cold seemed normal.  Your body goes through an adjustment period and you get to the point where you don't think about it.
