I saw this on another forum. Nice looking amp that's yours for a cool $5,500. Made in Virginia. Or is it? Just the transformer covers are made in the U.S., the rest in China.

Let's see what's under these nicely machined transformer covers. Ooooops, output transformer looks a little beat up. Hope nobody opens the covers!

Inside is a little messy. Resistor leads are a little long and some (grid stoppers) are a little too far from the tube sockets to be effective. What kills me are the two red switches at the front of the amp for triode/pentode switching. They're not even hooked up!!!!

Wow, I know diddly about tube stuff, but that looks like a few old components stuck in there and hack solder man. Some of those leads joins have enough lead on them to double as fishing weights. I know this because I am an expert at being a hack solder...'er

That is classic.

Here is their website:

No mention of not hooking up the pentode switch. Maybe they ran out of solder?

Or maybe hookign up the switches is part of the $10,000 optional amp "made for TAD / JBL horns."

It is easy to get hypnotized by the glow of tubes.

My tubes burn at both ends, they shall not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh, my, friends - they give a lovely glow.....
