I love Muddy Waters Folksinger, And John lee Hooker The Healer, They are very High quality recordings on CD

Does anyone know of other Blues albums with similar recording quality, This has nothing to do with bit rates. I have typical red book recordings and am very very happy with those

I am not interested in looking at HD-Traks and the like, I'm not getting into blue ray audio etc...etc...etc...

I am looking for redbook disks that you have found extraordinary recordings

No disrespect to any that like the other stuff, I'm just not interested in it right now.

Cant go wrong with Mississippi Fred. True Delta Blues

This one is re-mastered as many others of his are as well. Im sure you can get some rough streams to sample and see if its up to snuff for your detail needed.

MF is one of my favs in case you didn't notice :) Oh, its Keith Richards fav too.

check out Keb Mo, Jimmy Vaughn, Robben Ford, Robert Cray, they all record some nice sounding cd's in my opinion. also one of my favorites is Tab Benoit, he does cajun style blues. Tab has a distinct sound to most of his cd's that apeals to me. great guitar tone. he is a great player and singer. 3 great live blues cd's in my opinion are: Little Milton "grits aint groceries" This cd is a little forward at times vocally but a great performance with lots of emotion. Buddy Guy & Junior Wells "last time around-live at legends" a special recording that sounds excellent. Muddy Waters ahd the Rolling Stones "checkerboard lounge" some really great moments on this one.

some more specifics: John Lee Hooker "serves you right to suffer" outstanding recording

Robben Ford "Bringin it back home" and "Handful of blues"

Keb Mo "Keep it simple".... "slow down"..."Just like you" and "Keb mo"

Tab Benoit "The sea saint sessions"..."Standin on the bank"...Wetlands"

Mighty Sam McClain " Blues for the soul"

Robert Cray "Sweey potatoe pie"..."Shame and a sin"...and "Time will tell'

Susan Tedeschi "Live from austin texas"

Harmonica Shah "Live at the cove with Jack De Keyzer"

That ought to keep you busy :)

While I have this one on SACD, it is also available on redbook CD. I can't say how it compares, but the SACD sounds great and is one of my absolute favorites (recording quality and content)...

This is another one that gets a lot of play in my abode:

Another one I enjoy a lot...

These are a few of my very favorites. As previously stated, Keb' Mo's recordings are all of excellent quality. I have most of his on CD (one on SACD), and I love them all. He has become one of my very favorite artists in the last few years. This is my personal favorite of all his albums, I can't get enough of it:

Joe, it's compilation/collection but seriously good homage to the delta blues. Super recommended:

Now I love the blues in all it's forms. Must have 300 or 400 blues albums here of all flavors.

But.

When push comes to shove, I'd rather have my blues coming out of the delta.

Or maybe Chicago, but then there's Saint Louie,Memphis sounds pretty good, then there's New Orleans...

But if you can't, don't forget Robert Cray. Then there's this fellow by the name of Pete Kelly...

Colin James is a top Canadian blues player, who's not as well known in the US as he deserves to be.

Colin James - Voodoo Thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2Kn774ucWE

Here's how you show up your two-timing ex. This is a bit old and cheesy, but it's still amusing.

Another top blues player is Jeff Healey, taken away too young. You might remember he and his band playing the house band in the movie Road House with Patrick Swayze.

Great to see my Home town represented well here. I used to go see Jeff Healey in mid 80's at a local sunday afternoon jam before anyone knew who he was, then saw him open up for SRV a few years later. Here's another Youtube vid from a great Toronto venue "Hughs room" with another 2 Toronto legends with Jack De Keyser, Paul James and Danny Marks.

I'm going to see the Paul James band tomorrow night at a great Blues venue "The Old Dominion room"
