Moderators dtel Posted October 8, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 8, 2014 My mom also said I'd go blind doing that. I guess they didn't know everything. True I took care of my mother for her last few years, we talked a lot, one thing that I got from it ( not directly) was to have fun and enjoy yourself, old age will catchup to you and then it's to late. I did take that a little farther than she ever did but it's full speed ahead now.
Max2
I will be flying with my 10 month old in a few months through "the big airport" and don't think for a minute that Im not a darn worried Dad. No risk with casual contact is a load of BS. Someone sneezes on a terminal counter, Gets sweat on a counter, it gets on your thumb, you wipe your eyelid and you could be done. I sure hope Im over reacting, but Im tired of this "Laissez Faire" approach most of our so called leaders are taking. Also, while Im ranting We need to stop giving all these countries that hate us hundreds of millions every year to only fund the maggots that want to see us bleed. Save that money, pay reserves and the boarder patrol (very well) to build a darn wall on the border. A deadly wall ! Supposedly they have already caught 10 ISIS cockroaches trying to enter Texas as per a congress member (for what that is worth). You want in our country and you're a Muslim? Denounce Muslim radicalism on a world wide monitor for all to see. You want to live here? You have to learn our language, not own any weapons, not teach in any of our schools, and many more relevant rules. Im tired of the B.S. guys and I know many here are too. Its time we take back OUR country, not their country, not their future country, OUR United States. Now who wouldn't vote for a future president that threw that remark out there from the get-go? Guest Steven1963
Agreed. I am doing more now since the kids are grown than I ever thought I would. Two trips this year: one to Hawaii and the other to Cancun. A cruise next year and who knows what else. Planning a trip to Italy to show the wife Rome and the Vatican. I seen it when I was over there in the Air Force at age 19. Didn't appreciate it.

CECAA850
Now who wouldn't vote for a future president that threw that remark out there from the get-go? Plenty. You'd be surprised. I'd be all for it but it would be a lot closer race than you think.

BigStewMan
After that what I have from several sources is that he went to the airport and during the screening process marked a form asking "have you been exposed to the ebola virus?" (or something to that effect) and he marked 'NO.' That may very well be true; but, different people come to different conclusions based on the same information. Why he thought this was a complication to pregnancy vice exposure to ebola--i have no idea. I would suspect her family gave him false information whether intentionally or in ignorance. Much like HIV -- it is said that a large percentage of infected people don't know they're infected. We can say that they've had unprotected sex so that opens the door of possibility; however, many trust their partner and assume the partner's claim that they're "clean." Even with ebola, it can take 12 days to show any symptoms. Was he was told that she wasn't exposed and he believed them? If so,that is probably naive on his part (although i don't know what her symptoms were, heard that she was having a convulsion). Right now, i can say with all the honestly that i have, that i've not been exposed to the ebola virus; however, i have absolutely no idea how many people i've been in contact with over the past 12 days. Nobody appeared deathly ill; but, did a cook at the food joint unbeknownst to me have a fever and after i ate, got sent home with flu-like symptoms??? Possibilities are endless, which makes this so scary. My point is that i'm not willing to say he had some nefarious intent. I will admit that given the outbreak and just the fact that he was helping a sick person, he should have considered the possibility and told the airport folks that he helped someone and was told it was a complication to pregnancy and let them make the determination. That's what i would have done. Regardless, i just don't rejoice at anyone's demise.
BigStewMan
I understand that, but really in the long run we control way less than we think we do True. I know it's hard and i struggle with this considerably because i'm actually a germaphobe (i switch lanes at the grocery store if someone in front of me is buying cold medicine). But fear can ruin our lives too. My brother read a book about G. Gordon Liddy. he had a deathly fear of lightning. he was so disgusted that this fear had started to control him that he had himself tied to a tree during an electrical storm to force himself to face this fear. He said he was either going to conquer the fear or die trying. Sounds like you've done that Elden--good for you. Teach me how!

I take it that means you agree not to own weapons or teach in any of our schools and many more relevant rules. Let me clarify that I am all for restriction of citizenship rights for non-citizens. But "if you want to live here" disregarding all else with the additional us versus them subtext which has no basis in the constitution smacks of several distasteful ideologies. BigStewMan
haha. Actually when my time comes (natural causes, I hope), I'm looking to check out my way. No burden to my children or wife and no debts to some hospital where they don't give a damn anyway. Not me ... i want to linger for a very long time and be a huge burden … especially to my fellow forum members. I hear if you get 50,000 posts, that the forum-at-large is obligated to care for you for the remainder of your NATURAL life. I’m a long ways off; but, the keep the guest house ready Oldtimer because i’m hitting your pad during football season Edited October 9, 2014 by BigStewMan

They don't get full privileges or call themselves a citizen for 1 decade. No spill off on the commoners constitutional rights. They basically live similar rules as a common Felon. No Voting either. One bad apple spoils the whole dam bunch...well there game is one bad apple kills the whole dam innocent bunch. No more. Its time to shut them out just like Japan. oldtimer
Non citizens have never had the right to vote. If you admire Japan, go live there. They love foreigners as you have so pithily pointed out. One bad apple from anywhere can spoil a lot of parties. What native American tribe are you 100% of to judge the cutoff of who gets to pursue the American dream? Criminals should be prosecuted because they are criminals. Yes? The country was set up to be governed by the rule of law. You do understand that I hope. Edited October 9, 2014 by oldtimer
Moderators dtel Posted October 9, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 9, 2014 Here we go http://abcnews.go.com/Health/deputy-delivered-ebola-quarantine-order-hospital-er/story?id=26055781 A sheriff's deputy who helped serve a quarantine order on the apartment where Texas Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan had been staying is being examined at a Dallas hospital for "possible exposure to the Ebola virus." Dallas County Deputy Sheriff's Association confirmed Deputy Michael Monnig was taken to the emergency room of Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas today. "Right now, there are more questions than answers about this case," the hospital said in a statement. Monnig did not have contact with Duncan, who was hospitalized at the time the quarantine order was issued, and is not considered a high risk person, a Dallas County official told ABC News. "Our professional staff of nurses and doctors is prepared to examine the patient, discuss any findings with appropriate agencies and officials. We are on alert with precautions and systems in place," the hospital said.
