Superdave
do you guys think the debate was worthwhile? No. It was totally contrived. Sanders is on the Hillary Bandwagon now and expecting a nice VP position, of course if elected.
jimjimbo
I guess "politics" is a perfectly valid subject here (in spite of stated rules) as long as it is right wing vitriolic diatribes? wow talk about looking the other way! Yea, I was wondering how long this was going to last.... In the meantime, this sure is a lot of fun!! https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/10/06/hey-lets-all-make-our-own-donald-trump-hats/ Edited October 14, 2015 by jimjimbo
wvu80
I guess "politics" is a perfectly valid subject here (in spite of stated rules) You do have a point, as we are in danger of traveling down the slippery slope. In this instance, I think as a group we are staying at the top of the slope, talking "about" the political game, instead of discussing the politics themselves. as long as it is right wing vitriolic diatribes? wow talk about looking the other way! To be honest, I haven't seen the "right wing vitriolic diatribes" that have you concerned. We all view the world through our own political filters, so if that's how you see it, I can respect that. +++ Edit: I just went back and re-read the other posts. Joe in Post No. 15 does go on a rant, so you do indeed have a point. OK, two points. But in Joe's defense, I have a feeling if his army was in the middle where the democrat army was on one side and the republican army on the other, he'd attack both ways. Tarheel
You'd be better off pulling some guy off the street to run things. That's what happened in 2000 and 2004, and look where that got us.... Hey.....I'm off the street and could use $400,000/year.

I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it all right.
Wolfbane
do you guys think the debate was worthwhile? No. It was totally contrived. Sanders is on the Hillary Bandwagon now and expecting a nice VP position, of course if elected. It would be similar to FDR selecting Henry Wallace as his VP for his 1940 run. In Hillary's case there are rumors of her bad health. So unlike FDR she may not get a 2nd term and 2nd chance at a different VP on her 2020 ticket. That assumes she can get the nod and win in 2016. Jim
Problem with the debates is in who asks the questions. The candidates aren't writing them. Anderson was pretty good in my opinion on sticking it to the candidates, but neither side is really asking the right questions. Either way, we are in trouble as a country in my opinion and have been for some time. Term limits need to be enacted for congress, and donations from big corps should not be allowed along with the unions. Again, my opinion, and we all know it won't ever happen. wvu80
Term limits need to be enacted for congress, Can't. Not easily, anyway. Per the constitution, it is up to the states how they pick their representatives and for how long. It would take a constitutional amendment for that to happen. And since congress runs on the seniority system, any state that voluntarily limited the term of its representative is cutting its own throat in terms of political power and being able to bring home the bacon. +++ Edit: And by the way, I agree with you! ZEUS121996
i saw the final minute…and i only vomited twice. seriously, heard bernie & hillary take shots at the republicans and that doesn’t sit well with me (neither does it when the GOP does it towards them). don’t tell me why the other person shouldn’t be president--tell me why you should be. From the little that i’ve heard, Sanders is presenting himself as the defender of the middle class and wealth inequity as our biggest problem. I admittedly know little about the man. I looked for some information on him. For those that know about him, does the focus of the bills that he’s sponsored jive with what he’s saying? at a glance, i would have thought that labor and employment would have been at the top of his list. Sanders sponsors bills primarily in these issue areas: Armed Forces and National Security (27%) Health (19%) Energy (10%)Labor and Employment (10%) Education (9%) Government Operations and Politics (9%)Finance and Financial Sector (7%) Taxation (7%) I can tell you pretty much anything you need to know about him, what he drinks, etc. But not here. teaman
do you guys think the debate was worthwhile? Certainly, there was more substance covered than in the GOP debate. Granted, it's just another set of sales pitches, and we all know how rule #1 in politics is to lie and over-promise. Nevertheless, it didn't feel as much like a reality TV show like the GOP one did. The two dorks in the Dem debate should have just teamed up before the debate and saved two hours of time and energy. It turned into a hugfest between the two front runners....sad... Let me translate that, because I am sure no one here broke the obscure code: Obama one upped him as far as uselessness...I used to think GW Bush was an idiot, until Obama took over. GW Bush looks like a genius in comparison. GW Bush was not an idiot, just a convenient and obedient guy who agreed to follow the policy status quo of the USA in place since 1976. Then Obama was elected as the next convenient and obedient guy to follow the policy status quo in place since 1976. Next in line to follow the status quo will be Trump, or Hillary, or Bernie, or maybe another Bush. The name has no significance, other than some trivial personality quirks, like maybe one golfs and the other likes tennis. The policies of the USA are not created by Presidents.
Dankimus
Oh boy what pain that debate that was! A few commie/socialists arguing over who can spend more money, create more government programs and further tie up more money in bureaucracy while raising taxes on US to pay for it all. What a sick joke.
