oldtimer
Yes. Pot pies (luxury, but part of mother's little helper), liver and onions, pinto beans over a slice of bread (still like that one), spaghetti of course. Meatloaf, always a great way to stretch meat with stale bread...on and on. But we never starved. Starving has to be the worst.

billybob
Is a good supply of protein. Healthy and some resveritrol. Incomplete you add good Swiss to natural pb to make a decent put together and some nice bread. Bananas are a somewhat nice addition. Maybe you have... Polaners jelly. 29 minutes ago, jason str said: You will lose the excitement after one good taste. Lololol!!!
Thaddeus Smith
Stopped by the grocery store yesterday and noticed that beef hooves and soup bones were really cheap. So I bought what they had out and simmered overnight and all day today. Strained once and separated into jars - Managed to make 7 quarts of bone broth for consumption as-is or a base for soup with some root veggies and cheap meat cuts. 3
BigStewMan
@Thaddeus Smith I'm going to say right on to you, even though I have no idea what beef hooves taste like. I grew up in a Portuguese family and am still traumatized from going in my grandma's kitchen to see what was cooking, taking the lid off the pan and seeing all these fish heads bobbling around. suddenly, not a fan of fish head soup. 2

I only use them when making stock, much like chicken feet, because they provide an excellent source of callogen and nutrients. When it comes to making soups, umami and me..

mr clean
I loved those nasty Torino’s pizzas. Mom would add some extra cheese, and ground beef sometimes. She would fix it on Saturday night for me with a Pepsi to watch tales from the tomb. No wonder I love nightmares.
mr clean
Our Family went from being middle class money wise to lower middle class after dad died and B&W shut down. We never missed a meal and Mom was a great cook but I don’t know how she did it. I used to love potato patties. And remember the Chinese meals that came with the dry noodles in another can taped to the top? I love you Mom and Dad! 2

That had or have.. Grandparents or parents.. That made it through ww1 , ww2 , the great depression.. learned how to live with nothing.. Unlike the generation today... Just remember what your grandparents , and parents .. Invoked.. In you as a child.. Those stories go a long way... To survive what me might be facing..
