It sure is - depending on who you ask and your take on zip ties. I counted 30 + - . There goes the neighborhood along with the sonics -

Besides the zip ties . . .

Think about it for a moment.  The rectifier tube has the nastiest of fields associated with that function.  Of course, everyone caught that - right away,...... except for the Manufacturer.

Those neatly spaced tie wraps and red and white wiring will sell amps, if you are impressed with that.  Those electrolytic caps are

nice also.   See that 6 Watt 18 Ohms power resistor between the rectifier tube, Pin 8,  and the choke?  Sure, go ahead and add some series resistance to the Finals stage, it doesn't matter at all.

Its all very nice !  Glad to have seen it.  Is it three grand, or four, or five or six?  I'll take it out of my 401K.  Red and white wires, wow, and blue to sell to us, in the USA.  Will this piece get me that " tube sound "  that everyone talks about in audio ???

Well, that guy, Tossie, published over 200 projects http://tomo.fine.to/V.World/gallery.html

He was quite known in Japan until he passed away in 2007.

Have you built 200 or more amps?

Shall we delete the entire thread? A “member” or “poster”, whatever the hell we are, has been permanently deleted as well as a couple photos. We’ve all seen and read a lot worse. Ah well, it is 2020 the Year of COVID where at a whim anything can be shut down —

I hid the photo in the reply because I thought that's what the two of them wanted? Did I misunderstand that?

The "member" is a separate issue,  that goes back to Jan. 2019.

What do the Japanese know about tube audio, that we Americans don't ??  Nothing.

That guy, who I have never even heard of, does not know the most rudimentary things, on how to lay out an amplifier properly.

The Power Transformer and the rectifier tubes have to go as far away as possible, from the amp's sensitive input signal tubes.

Putting a rectifier between two input tubes, is absolutely a novice's total stupidity showing...no thought , he likely didn't know better.   It is the worst place possible to position a rectifier tube.   Now YOU know this also.  Welcome to the club.

Jeff

You know what? I'm starting to agree with the other guys here.

I'll just disregard your posts.

Hell, I don’t know. I thought we we having more zip tie fun at JDM’s expense. There have been far more “offensive” pics than that and it did follow the zip tie theme, no? You’re a lawyer - wasn’t there a ruling on what is considered pornography or the like?

Is it not in the eye of the beholder? I think RandyH objected but with several hundred posts a week I doubt everything is to his liking —

Who really cares anyway - my time will be better served watching the Chiefs beat the sh-t out of Tommy Boy

I look at it in a different way. It shows the Manufacturer has the technical knowledge to overcome the obstacle of rectifier tube between the input tubes. When I first built tube amplifiers I put the input connections in the front of the chassis right in front of the grids of the input tubes. When I learned more on how to overcome the technical challenge of putting the inputs in the rear around AC and power supplies I started putting the inputs in the rear where they belong.

It's always been a bit annoying with the input jacks on my ST-70 being on the front of the chassis. I have done a Curcio front end and now working on a Tubes4hifi swap. Thinking of changing to 6L6 output tubes for the fun of it.

Easier to build without problems putting the input jacks close to the input tubes but not the best place for sure. I really like the sound of the 6L6 tube myself, not that the EL34's do not sound swell as well. I buy the NOS Russian equivalent, the 6P3S tubes. Use to get good deals on these tubes on Ebay but the secret has got out and now the price has went up.
