That's incredible.  It blows my mind that this is even possible.

Mine too. It looks like science is winning...

Do you think colonization will happen on Mars after we are gone ? Or any other planet for that matter. ?

"Perseverance will search for signs of ancient life on Earth's neighboring planet, paving the way for eventual human exploration of Mars."

It dawned on me while reading that.....  perhaps there's a reason any ancient life might have left the planet and here we are potentially planning on barging right back in!

Hope any boogymen are gone by now

Or just the desire to go far beyond where we are currently at.

Was talking to a bud about Lewis and Clark just yesterday...Can you imagine what was on their minds?

"Perseverance will search for signs of ancient life".  I hope it doesn't overlook any present signs of life.

It is quite the engineering achievement.  It will be interesting to see how long it takes to retrieve the core samples Perseverance will collect.  Maybe not even in our lifetime?

It'll happen.   I could give you a better guess if I knew how long I had left.

It would be the wildest thing if a fossil was found on Mars

indeed @Jeff Matthews

That would just blow us away...

Keep in mind how much exploration took place to find what we have found so far here on earth.

I'm looking forward to see how well the little Ingenuity Mars Helicopter works.  I had no idea Mars had enough of an atmosphere for aerodynamic flight.

I read that flight requires very high blade RPMs for that little chopper. It’ll be interesting.

That's their next step.

Huge accomplishment by landing that rover.
