arfandbark
Waaaaay back when I was 16 I took my first loan out.... $800.00 loan and I had to pay $400.00 down. What did I buy??? Kenwood receiver, turntable(artificial granite or whatever), JVC cassette deck and a pair of genesis speakers... Used I live without all those pieces, some more easily than others. I beat the receiver to death. She was tough, but I did her in. The tape deck I used very little. The turntable started slowing down and I was too stupid (young) to buy a new belt.. The speakers were stolen from me. I've been watching and haven't seen a pair of them show up yet on e-bay yet. It's cool that you're taking care of your equipment, Crazytube. You make quite a statement for yourself @ 15! Keep up the good work, friend! WOOF!
crazytubepower
Thanks for the kind words, audio is my only true love in life, it brings be satisfaction and joy. It makes the days seem worth while and adds substance to my life. It is my hobby at outlet. It relives stress and takes you away from the world, if only for alittle while. Before I had gotten in to audio I was very depressed. About one year ago we moved from the only home I had ever lived in. For 14 years I devolped a bond with the home, area, and friends. The months that followed were some of the worst most depressing dark moments in my short life. I was a freshman in high school without anyfriends, no one talked to me, and I had no social interaction what so ever. And then one day when we were having a garage sale, I found a a/v reciver that was my older brothers. I quickly graped it and the cd player from the sale pile, hooked up the speakers from my sony bookself system and I was off. Started going online for audio and found the forums...Audio has turned my life around, Made me a happier person, thus I was more confidant to go out and meet people. Anyway, I am sorry for the sob story, that was a painful time in my life and I am still having to deal with it but the music helps. It reaches to my soul and tell me everything is going to be okay Forever Strong CTP

charlieboy
Here's my latest addition. Heres another of my current 2ch. system. The picture just barley shows my Klipschorns that are 20 feet apart in the corners. Then I have 2 Sonance 15 inch powered subs. The rack on the right has my modifed Shanling T-100 cd player on top. Underneath that is my Samsung HDTV receiver for the 37 inch LCD screen behind the tapestry (Though I rarley watch tv at all in this room). Underneath that is a pair of moded Wright Audio 2a3 monoblocks. The middle table has a Exact audio EP15A ( The EP15A is neither a power conditioner, nor a power re-generator. It is somewhere in the middle. It rids the AC power of harmonics and noise and generates replacement power for the portions of the AC power that were removed in the process of eliminating power line harmonics and other distortions. In addition, it insures the output power is always 60Hz and the rms voltage is always 120VAC.) Below that is my Decware ZTPRE preamp and a pair of moded Dared VP-20 monoblock amps loaded with all 1950's Mullard tubes. The rack on the left is my VPI HW-19 MKIV TNT Junior. Totally upgraded with the heavy platter ,better inverted bering, SS clamp, SAMA motor, and Origin Live Silver arm with a Benz Micro L2 cartridge going into a Musical Fidelity XLP phono stage (for now) as I have a Plinius Jarrah on the way! Here's a shot of my Khorns x-overs.

ZAKO
Chi- Pete....Your gonna have to move those JBL,s away from those khorns. Your obstructing the bass bins.
Chicago_Pete
I agree Maron. I ordered some new racks and they will be here next Tuesday. Going to redo the entire room. To much clutter. Pete

Pete Pete, Awesome collection! Looks like you run the range of great gear from several companies! What are the older horizontal cabs in the pic of the long wall of gear? Chicago_Pete
Those are JBL Sovereigns and JBL Olympus. They both have the S7R system. LE85 horn, PR15 passive, and LE15A woofers. They sound pretty good. The cabinetry work is really something to admire. Pete

Pete The first seriously good sounding system I heard was owned by a friend who introduced me to McIntosh Tube gear and older JBL cabinets - His were from the days when stereo was first coming to market - and as people dumped their old large mono cabinets in favor of small "stereo pairs", he snatched up the old mono cabs. Don't remember the model, but they were a dual 15" single horn cabinet in a dark stained mahogany veneer - about the size of Khorns. Outstanding JBL drivers - great sound! pauln
My Man-Cave Music Gear looks pretty simple compared to some of what I've seen in this thread. Anyone keeping score on the WAF scale?
jt1stcav
That's a very fine, straightforward system, pauln...I like it alot. But I'd be so paranoid that somebody might accidently kick the gear sitting on the floor like that. Have you considered a low lying coffee table or at least 4 amp racks? Regardless, I bet it sounds as fantastic as it looks...Enjoy!
pauln
I have the turntable up on a low marble slab table now, about 2'x2' up 16". Its the little table in the picture just off the left arm of my chair. Actually I was looking today for something to get the rest of it off of the floor. Since I have mono blocks and the preamp has a separate PS I have four things to rack and I don't want them too close to each other (heat and interference). I would like to keep the TT on a separate heavy mount as it is now.
tkot
hey pete.... ive never seen so many speakers in a "2" channel set up!! i wonder tho about all the dead speakers and their effect on the sound quality in your room? jay
jt1stcav
My latest entry with the addition of my new sub: the Dayton Audio DLS300-632 with its heavy-duty down-firing 10" driver and 100 watts of class-A/B power, capable of generating 25Hz which blends nicely with my Loth-X Amaze single-driver monitors in my small listening room. ranjith
How would compare the sound of a single-driver to that of a conventional tweeter-woofer bookshelf design? A buddy of mine got the new Kef iQ series bookshelfs with the uni-Q single driver technology. He said he loves how smooth it sounds. Was wondering what you think of your Loth-X Amaze
