Called LG. They confirmed, if Tv is connected through ARC to an external speaker system (Klipsch soundbar) and the source TV show/Movie is Dolby encoded, it will automaticlly turn Dolby on and you cannot trun it off, either through the TV audio out settings or through the Klipsch. They asked if the source streamer, like Netflix, has any available settings, but I cannot find any. SO basically your output sound is Dolby-ized whether you like it or not. Should be a choice, glaring ommission.

Thanks. We have an LG OLED 65 B6P. There does not appear to be any Dolby access or able/disable in its sound settings

LaScala restoration and Driver placement
AudioBuff123 replied to AudioBuff123's topic in Technical/Restorations
Thank you Wuzzer. I'm sure the topic has been reviewed before. I don't seem to be able to figure out how to do a search to come up with the right threads. When you mention 'it will alter the sound' - do you mean that in a good way? -
Perfect - I needed exactly this info, thank you so much

I have heard these very speakers - this is a good deal.

LaScala restoration and Driver placement
wuzzzer replied to AudioBuff123's topic in Technical/Restorations
That topic has been discussed before. There’s no doubt that what you’re describing will alter the sound from the horns, how much though is the question. -
You want to know what the horns and woofers are made of? The horns are a type of plastic, the woofers are a fiber composite. The motorboard is either MDF or plywood.

Turns out 5-hour energy drink really works for me. Got home last night and I couldn't sleep so I spent some time cleaning up the LaScalas (they came out of an old church... very dusty) and got them up and running. Did some tube rolling this morning; the Electro Harnomix Fat Bottles I was running sounded great with my Heresy 2's but very thin-sounding with the LaScalas. Went back to my Nesstone EL34's and have been sitting here enjoying them ever since. I know understand why these are so popular... Like they say, there is no replacement for displacement.... -

From my past experience, hardwired sounds better than wifi which sounds much better than bluetooth. Also just because it says hi-rez don't always mean it sounds better. If a crap master is upscaled to 96k or 192k it will still sound like crap, just hi-rez crap Lascalla's are very revealing, the quality of the original recording/master makes a huge difference. TBH well recorded/mastered 16bit 44.1/48k files can and do sound fantastic.

Yes, there is definitely something wrong in my system. I just need to establish a sequential troubleshooting list to try to track it down. The Decware Tube amp is brand new. Yes, I will A/B a wired ethernet connection to see if that makes a difference. I thought the suggestion that a woofer may be out of phase was a really good and thoughtful suggestion;) ALK x-overs were bought directly from the grinch who stole Christmas (you all know about Al, I assume) Any suggestions on a sequential troubleshooting list would be appreciated. Thanks, bob
