  2. I have a pair. I will recommend you do not use the Ti diaphragms unless yours have failed and OEM is unavailable. Use quality film and foil caps (expect $$$). I used Solen metalized caps and find there is a subtle harshness or edginess to higher tones. It took a while to notice, but now I don't like the effect. You might find the metalized caps can be used in place of the woofer EQ cap to save money with little impact to sound quality. That room has my H IVs so the KG2s aren't used much and I have little motivation to change them.
  3. @Marvel direct drive function ON kinda maybe?!
  4. That scares me for sure. These guys wouldn't know how to handle two of us. I'm NOT sure I could handle two of us.😂 It's truly a delima anymore. Ya know just what ya want to hear then something else pops up so ya go dig that one out. THEN ya have to hear either one you saw or one in now ANOTHER pile. I see piles in your future brother! Sad though when you forget which pile you "think" it's in. That's another story altogether. Hey @dirtmudd figure out a Zappa song to help hin understand that big picture. 😂

  6. That tape isn't threaded correctly.
  7. Look at the edge plys on the back for the serial number stamped into the cabinets. Listen to them for a while, before changing anything. I had one late '60s H700 (a '67 and a '68, I think) that needed new capicitors because it sounded a little dull and recessed and another one that did not. If you have no rubbing, buzzing, or ringing from any driver, they are good and need only to play music until they can't.
  8. Maybe totally unrelated but.........I discerned a buzz in my 402 mid/high left side UG Jube speaker. This was at idle "no signal". It is masked when almost any level of music is played. I will not say that I never noticed it before but I am fine tuning and trying to squeeze the best performance possible and it was easy to ignore in the past. I tracked it down to the in-wall wiring going to the left speaker. The electrician that ran the wires must have run some power wiring along side the speaker wire for too long a distance. When I swapped out the in-wall speaker wire with externally run wire the problem is gone.
  9. I've detected that one of my Khorns (early 80's) has a nasty buzz between 230 and 400hz. Not only is there a buzz, but also a noticeable volume difference. In other frequencies, they are pretty much the same, with no buzz. I swapped the K55v drivers and the problem followed the driver. I replaced the rubber gasket between driver and horn. Problem remained. I see that Crites has diaphragms available. Is that my likely path to solving this? I've replaced diaphragms before, so I'm not scared of the project, unless there is something uniquely challenging? I've read some forum posts that suggest sound quality improves with new diaphragms, being that the old are brittle by now. Anyone confirm this? Thanks for any direction or input.
  10. Of the options listed, I’ve heard many good things about matching Klipsch with NAD and Cambridge Audio.
  11. Two excellent solo performances with Hour of Power choir Maynard

  14. Hi all, ended up selling them in less than 24 hours to someone for $3250 though I had several other buyers interested in coming by for $3500. Thanks for all the input!
  15. Lagging -- One method to use is with a distribution panel and impedance matching volume controls. I used this in a previous house, two speakers at the patio and two in the kitchen ceiling. Used a Dayton class D amp. Had a 4 post speaker wall panel that had multiple outputs on the rear. Run speaker connections to the volume control (one for each set of speakers) and then on to the speakers. Set the number of speakers/load at the volume control. Powered all four with a Dayton class D amp. Am doing the same at the house we just moved to. Using a monoprice 8 pair distribution panel. Feed that with a Aiyima A7 amp. From the left - distribution panel - Aiyima - amp power - DAC - not seen raspberry Pi Only the porch speakers wired currently, the kitchen is being renovated starting in a few week so hope to have the ceiling speakers install in the next couple of months. The raspberry runs a spotify connect client (raspotify) so I can run things from my phone (via the LAN) or use RDP to use VLAN to play ripped tunes from the connected USB SSD
  16. Dear all, I am a happy owner of a pair of RF-52 to listen music. No TV set at home only music! These are my first real speakers. I had the chance to receive a turntable as a gift from my family. I added the Klipsch after several advices read on the internet. Today I am looking for the best amp association (quality/price ratio. I cannot go for a MacIntosh at 9k$) The room is 40m2 ~ 430square ft. Walls and roof : plasterboard Floor: tiles A lot of furnitures : sofas, guitars, some portraits on the wall and hundreds of books. Music : jazz / piano (Gogo Pinguin, Gauthier Toux, Hiromi…) and some metal prog with complex recordings (Dream Theater, Tool…). Which amp would you consider ? Here are some ideas but I am really open to new stuff: - Nad C389 (1300€ a bit pricey) - Roksan K2 used or k3 (too expensive for me). - Rega Brio : affordable amp but no possibility to listen to my Deezer HD music. - Cambridge CXA81 : 1000€ or 1300€ for the Mk II version. Quite pricey as well. - Advance Paris X-i75 : affordable and looks well equipped for 700€ - NuPrime IDA8: looks good too! Many thanis in advance. Best regards Benoit
  17. I picked up a pair of well-worn Klipsch KG^2 bookshelf speakers for my office Waxed the walnut veneer with some Briwax and got the cabinets looking great again Ordered titanium tweeters from Crites speakers Now I need three capacitors for the crossover network: 4 uF 8 uF 24 uF I can solder but I know nothing about different types of capacitors and the relative cost-to-value What is a good value option for these speakers?
  18. I have trouble listening to Tom Waits, but when others do his songs, they can be magical. Rachael Price - I'm gonna take it with me.
  19. Word to the wise....don't wait 20 or 30 years like I did to do room treatments. It turned out to be one of the greatest improvements I ever made/did. I mean after all you have the best speakers..don't stop there. I f you have been talking with @mikebse2a3 by PM, I'm pretty confident he is giving the same advice..and more
  20. beautiful Tabla solo by the revered Rimpa Siva
  21. Happy life of the novice... No piles here yet. 😉
  22. I just found a pair of seventy sevens in a box when I was going thru old stuff if you're in need...
  23. These are walnut oiled. The pie-shaped logo was used from the early 60's until the early 70's. I don't have a solid confirmation of the latter date.
