or just keep your laptop as-is, buy/build a NAS to store your music and redirect your library to that. then all you are changing is your music location and not having to mess with setting up a new computer (or adding a monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc to your stereo setup). many many ways to skin this cat..2 points

Over the last several weeks I have been going out of town and found a shop at the final destination that only carries very high end audio gear. I was pleasantly surprised to listen to some Dynaudio, Sonus Faber, Paradigm, Focal, PBS and some others. I thought that some of them had beautiful cabinets and great design to make an impression for a home setting. But, I was not overly impressed with the clarity and imaging of most of the speakers when compare to some of the Klipsch speakers. I was trying to see what exactly made some speaker worth so much money. Just my personal view, but I think the efficent nature of Klipsch, dynamic range and apparent build quality of Klipsch allows it to keep up with speakers costing five times as much. I took some of my best vocal jazz, jazz insturmental and music with good bass to test the speakers. What test music do other forum members use when testing speakers? Sorry to not included Klipsch Heritage speakers as part of my comparison. I have never heard any speakers from that line[]. Dynaudio was one of the best of the high end speaker that I heard.1 point

These rare CF-1's sound great, and are physically about a 6 out of 10. There is the unfortunate glass ring on top of 1 speaker. One of the Klipsch badges is missing. The KV-1 also sounds great and is about a 7 of 10. I would like to get $250 or best cash offer for the CF-1's and $50 or best offer for the KV-1. Located near Biloxi, MS. Willing to meet within a reasonable distance. Could ship the KV-1.1 point

Just to be complete, the impedance of a cable will change with temperature - and the signal flowing through it will cause heating due to the resistive losses (the reactive components don't create heat). This will generate a form of hysteric distortion as the rate of heating will be faster than the rate of cooling, and the music source has a high crest factor. What is the magnitude? Ultimately it depends on the size of the wire. Something like those light-bulb fuses (a fuse is an undersized wire) that (try to) protect tweeters sound horrid at almost all levels - even when not hot enough to glow. The same effects will be happening in any conductor, just to a much much much smaller degree (bad pun intended). In practice it is very easy to mitigate those effects, but I still think there is value to understanding the behaviors. This website spells it out pretty well for anyone that wants to calculate actual values: http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/resistivity-conductivity-d_418.html Copper is shown as having a temperature coefficient of 4.29 x 10-3, which will yield a 0.4% change per degree C. And then the variation isn't even linear either - which gets exaggerated by impurities and more so at colder temperatures. http://www.copper.org/resources/properties/cryogenic/ Now all that said, it is also very easy to ensure that these effects are small - especially in comparison to the behavior of the loudspeaker. Klippel has done plenty of research showing the effects of voice coil heating, and I've found those effects to be quite audible in my applications. The balance between my direct radiating woofer and horn loaded tweeter changes based on how loud I listen....or maybe subjectively I would describe it as the woofer can't keep up with that tweeter. (There's a lot more going on, but heat is definitely one of the factors). http://www.klippel.de/measurements/power-handling-heat-dissipation/voice-coil-temperature.html http://www.klippel.de/uploads/media/Nonlinear_Modeling_of_Heat_Transfer_01.pdf So which wires are we talking about? There's definitely more than just LRC going on, but it depends on the application when it matters...1 point

We ended up going to my brothers house last weekend in Tyler (TX). Of course he's still drinking his Kona which he gets shipped fresh to him from the islands. Normally I have one cup in the morning with breakfast but the 2 mornings we were there, it was 2 + cups a day. Man that stuff is good. I can't believe my wife actually put flavored creamer in it, what a waste.1 point

Obviously a morning person ! I don't really want to hear that, it puts all the pressure on me to have a good morning, and there is only a couple ways for that to happen, and I can't remember when that happened last. But since it's not early, Good Morning back to you.1 point

not quite rc64ii (I do have 1 as center) but I am toying with the idea of running twin rc62iis as rear surrounds. I have 1 as single rear surround and it is pretty good NOT, a bad idea... and more cost effective! I want to know who is going to be the first to try it so I went ahead and got a 2nd rc62ii. I have sold my synergy f30 that I had as surrounds so twin rc62iis for surrounds now. Very impressed, long term goal is aquire another set of reference towers for surrounds and have the 2 rc62s as rear surrounds. Would love to see your setup. Post pic when you can1 point

You may get close but a perfect one's not gonna happen. Even batches of paint can be a mixmatch. If you want perfection have them all painted at once or go to your local Valspar dealer & tell them what you want. Last time i picked up i had to buy a whole gallon, forgot what i paid but was around $100. Used a roller & wetsanded until it was a close match. Another option is to take them to your local Maaco or budget body shop with one of your speakers and have them match as close as they can.1 point

I originally purchased a set of RS-7s. They are wonderful speakers in every way. Great sound quality, bass response, efficiency, but they are a bit big. My wife decided I needed RS-35s instead. My RS-7s are sitting if you are interested with the original boxes in white. The weight 24lbs each and cost about $100 just to ship. I am using the Academy Center, Cornwall fronts, Heresey side surrounds, and the RS-35s as rear surrounds. I am really happy with it. Mike.1 point

I know what ya mean sorta... I went out on Disability in June of 2011 and fought over and over and finally lost the case in 2012. We re filed the whole bit with more evidence and we won in November 2013... First check was in January 2014. The stress level of the last few years has been through the roof.1 point

You might have a Trojan Horse or a worm on your PC. One tip i was told years ago is to make up a fake email address that will come up to the top of your email contacts list... ie 0@myspam.com. By doing this with a fake email address the virus will not be able to send out anything to anyone you know as it won't get past the first one. Now maybe the viruses have gotten smarter and skip it I don't know, but it has worked for me.1 point

I hadn't heard them before either. I bought my first set of LS II's blindly from craigslist since they were close by (~100 miles). If you're ever in SC, drop me a line if you want to listen. All I can say about the LS II is WOW! I've heard the RF-7ii and had a full 7.2 system of RF-83/RC-64/RS-62/RF-82's. The four LS II's have those 7 speakers beat (I don't even have my center channel enabled). I can't wait to move and buy a house with a bigger room to fit more LS II's.1 point

Wouldn't it be nice if we supported our friends and neighbors and bought American made products whenever possible? Maybe our economy would improve and unemployment would go down.1 point

ClaudeJ1, it is amazing how little power I use for the subs. The 7 lb Behringer amp are class D and are a good piece of gear to help in overall power management of the system. Power management is something we don't talk about often on the forum but, this is an important aspect in running a good audio system.1 point

Lets be crystal clear on your issue: Im in my man cave, my ears (at this time) are here>@ 22Watts class A Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHzfD6XLK7Q The wife unit comes in, scares the living chit out of me and after I calm down, hand her the Lagavulin16 she ask for, proceeds to pull up a chair. Took me 35+ years to find a mare like this.1 point

The Rs-7's are big with a big sound. The RS-35's are medium with a medium sound. Both sound good but the RS-7's are just better. IMO, order of audible impact from Good----Best. Good----RS-42, RS-35, RS-52, RS-7, RS-62----Best Bill1 point

Then you've not heard the Legend himself. His philosophy is applied to the rest but only the Heritage embody the 8 Card in the flesh, and of those it's only completely realized in the Klipschorn. Don't see your local listed, but it's hard to believe you are too far from some Heritage owner to have a listen. If you are finding the post PWK line comparable to the best offerings of the competition, consider the next level... Dave1 point
