  1. try them that way for a week, or, so, then try them as small and crossed at 80, or 60...see which way YOU like best... remember to set LFE+Main for the way you have them set now...

  2. So I am looking to put together a small "micro" system (onkyo cr type) to leave on in the day time while I am gone to help keep my dog company. Don't like leaving all of the big equipment running while away. In my quest I ran across this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-McIntosh-Clock-SEAL-IN-THE-BOX-MCLK12-/310855286889?pt=US_Stereo_Component_Combos&hash=item48606b4069 Pretty cool, very pricy... just thought I'd share FYI - if anyone has a micro system they would like to sell please inbox me ♪ ♫ ♪

  12. Take one RF, hook it up the left channel. Take one La Scala, hook it up to the right channel. Play a 30 Hz test tone through the amp loud enough that you can clearly hear the tone (if not feel it). Then pan the balance from left to right. You'll hear that the La Scala is just about as sensitive as the RF down there. Whereas the RF is padded relatively flat, the La Scala runs un-corked for all intents. IOW, you can de-rate a La Scala down to RF performance levels by EQ'ing the bottom end to match the top end. You'll end up with a La Scala that can dig just as deep as the RF by ear....if that's going to be the sole basis for comparison. The true power of the La Scala is unleashed when you high pass it near the bass bin's cutoff frequency and use a horn subwoofer as part of a 4-way. Doing that will net extremely "realistic" levels of output. ..and by "realistic", I mean "Shuttle launch pad" realistic.

Man there prolly in rough working shape. The belles i have now are 9/10 and working. Still likely will call him, who knows. 17. Everybody talks about the rabbit! If you continue to buy Klipsch, you will fall down the rabbit hole for sure, but it is a great experience. I love Heritage, but I wouldn't say they are "more laid back and smoother." They may well measure less smooth, although they may sound better. Smoothness (flat response) is not anywhere near everything. In rank ordering qualities that matter, Paul Klipsch put low distortion near the top, and frequency response near the bottom (perhaps someone has a copy of what he said about the matter). The Heritage line speakers are very dynamic and the ones with horn-loaded bass (Klipschorn, Belle, La Scala, La Scala II) have very clear (as opposed to muddy) low distortion bass. The Cornwall II/III has nice punchy bass, but, some find, not as tight and effortless. Those who own or have heard it say that the Jubilee is a great speaker, better than Klipschorns. The first design was meant to be the successor to the Klipschorn. There are several combinations of horns/drivers now available to assemble a Jubilee -- search the forum for more info. They are in Klipsch's Cinema/pro line now, but the photographs on the website may not cover all of the possibilities. I believe they must be purchased from Klipsch through Roy Delgado, the co-designer, but others can clarify that. I am very happy with my Klipschorn / Belle / Heresy II surround Home Theater, but if I were to start over, I would investigate the Jubilee!

  19. I have a Denon X4000 with Audyssey XT32 and Forte mains. I have them set at large with the XO set at 60 hz. I have read that they should always be set at small unless they go down to 20 hz. I do have a subwoofer also. What do you guys think?
    1 point
  20. Although the Audyssey people and most other experts recommend "SMALL" and 80 Hz, on the grounds of allowing higher resolution correction of the sub, a little more headroom in your main channels, and less of a chance of phase problems, TRY all settings for a prolonged period each, to see what you prefer. These would include all possible combinations. With "LARGE," LFE + Main will send the soundtrack music to both your main speakers and to the sub, which can probably go lower than your main speakers (even big ones). There may or may not be audible phase cancellation, or uneven response. The LFE will be sent to your sub only, as long as you select "Sub On," which is as it should be. Selecting "LARGE" without LFE + Main may turn your subwoofer off. Put your ear down there and listen. Now, the regular crossover to the sub (the one that probably should be set at 80 Hz), is different than the LPF for LFE that some AVRs have. Audyssey's founder Chris has stated that he wishes that NO AVR provided this latter choice. LPF for LFE means Low Pass Filter for Low Frequency Effects. The ONLY correct setting for this, if you want to hear what the filmmakers did, is 120 Hz. The filmmakers send LFE up to 120 Hz through your AVR's subwoofer output to the sub. So, try various combinations, knowing that the Audyssey, THX, and professional standards are: all speakers SMALL, crossovers for Front, Center, and Surround set to 80 Hz (unless Audyssey determines that an even higher crossover should be used), and LPF for LFE (if any) set to 120 Hz.

  22. Just walked out the back and found we have some new additions, not a great pic, they were watching me and I didn't want to disturb them since the baby's probably can't fly. Every evening there is at least 2-10 flying around between the three or four ponds in the neighborhood, they are really loud with there honking as they fly buy. One even crashed into the side of the house once almost gave me a heart attack it was so loud, I went to look and it flew off.

  38. Hats off to you my friend indeed. I had a kg surround sound system at about 20 years of age. I never new klipsch even had another speaker other than the kg.5 at that point. Wow i cannot count the times i went through speakers nib...I really cannot, only to fall back on what i knew worked The Kg .5(i have to LOL at myself). Now 20 years later i have found the holy grail in audio. If you are 26 like your stats state..very nice to see you with a great start. I see you in a venture that as like what youthman is taking at the moment and indulging with heritage or the like with klipsch. Especially if you get the music tingle in your ear hairs. Cheers!

  39. Just be aware that the hole is big and deep and you never seem to come out of the hole. It gets kinda comfy down here. Haha I've owned my share of both Reference and Heritage (current debate going on right now on which are truly heritage speakers). To my ears, the Reference are amazing for HT. I just acquired my first pair of LaScalas and as soon as I can carve out some time, I want to do some direct A/B Comparison between my RF-83 and the LaScalas for both HT and 2ch. As mentioned, you will need a solid sub for both Reference and for Heritage but the Reference will provide more bottom end. I'm in the process myself of trying to determine which I will keep in my HT (RF-83 or LaScala). My advice, try and listen to as many different Klipsch speakers that you can so you can tell for yourself what your ears prefer.

  42. I don't really agree that they sound way different. I ran them side by side for hours and think they sound more alike than different. The cornwalls have a little bigger bass and a bigger voice than the rf7ii. The rf7ii has better top end sparkle that sounds a little better. Both speakers play with an effortless sound. And they both have that same klipsch sound. But thats compared with the top of the reference line per say. vs the lower levels the heritage would walk all over them imo. So in general with all speakers in the reference line included i would say the heritage line are just a better speaker with better everything. This is my opinion of course and i only own the cornwalls and heresys.

  43. When I was very young, my father had a friend who was a custodian at a local hospital in Syracuse, NY. He was a kind, gentle, hard working man. His employer did not provide him with health care coverage. Imagine, a hospital not providing their unskilled workforce with insurance. I will never forget the day (I was probably 10 years old) when I saw him tear up after the death of his wife from cancer. He was telling my father that he found out that his wife, prior to her death, had been cutting her pain pills in thirds because they had no insurance and the pain pills were expensive. She did not want her husband to know that she was stretching out the medication because, even though she was dying, she did not want HIM to feel bad that he could not afford her medication. I am sorry, but in the richest nation in the history of time, how can ANYONE deny health care coverage to another? Are we savages?

  46. I’m far from an audiophile though esp when it comes to music listening and or say a quality 2 channel setup with some heritage speakers and nice tube setup would be something id love to get into in the future. Im more of a casual listener when it comes to music. When I watch film I find myself to be much more critical over what is being represented and how it is appropriately playing the way a director intended it to be enjoyed. More often than not if a film was done in mono or has mono tracks, or stereo tracks etc I prefer to watch it that way but I certainly enjoy popping in a modern mixed blu-ray. I have a lot to learn in 2 channel listening and read the posts in 2 channel all the time
