  1. Temp 47 deg this morning. Large orange juice - three large cups coffee - 2 egg ham and cheese omelet and I am ready for the day. The coffee is excellent this morning and its a comfortable 74 degrees here. Oh darn, I just realized that that I'm still in the house with the A/C running and I didn't even contribute to the making of this mornings pot of coffee. However, I did feed the dog.....

  2. Morning gang, first cup of many to follow. Nice slow weekend, playing around with home projects, finely installed another CCTV cam on the cave yard outback, (ran the wire 4years ago). For the last week, Stereo has just been kind of dormant since achieving (Active) perfection, this is turning out to be a very bad, nothing to shop for, little to improve. Idle time during beers, mind wanders, fingers dance on the key board, mouse seems to find it's way to The Bay Surfing the Bay with nothing in mind, nothing needed/wanted is dangerous, never had the problem before Suddenly find myself bidding, OMG, cant stop, that SOB aint getting this, i want this, and i shall have this, and before i knew it, i got it. Idle time, aint working for me, im finding myself slipping back into old hobby's http://www.ebay.com/itm/Icom-IC-R3-SS-Communications-Receiver-Video-Japan-Version-5-2450-MHz-No-Gaps-/400766415273?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=DCKRXuuD%252F2WX8mHzauU6DMX3D9Y%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc mach-1 understands

  3. That's chilly mach-1. We had a thunder storm last night and light rain this morning. Should clear off soon. Took the critter to the community pool yesterday but thunder interrupted so Jake only got to swim about five feet At least I know he doesn't sink to the bottom. Working on the second cup. Still grinding Trader Joe's beans. Cheers Gents

  4. I've been so pleased with the performance of the RSW-15, I decided to purchase it's identical twin! I've passed on several RSW-15's that were out of state due to not wanting to ship this beast. What is the likelihood of finding another Maple RSW-15 locally? Guess about the same likelihood of me finding a single LaScala to use as a center channel. I purchased the sub from it's original owner. The twin is in excellent condition with only minor scratches on the top of the cabinet. Both woofers are in fantastic shape. The speaker grill had all 4 pegs broken and the previous owner used white glue to secure machine screws to the grill so the white shows through the grill. Will likely throw the grill away since I don't use them and it's in pretty rough shape. I haven't cranked them up yet as I need some suggestions regarding placement. I'll start a separate thread in the subwoofer section though.

  6. Your right, I did the same thing you did after getting advice from people here, 3 identical across the front, everyone was right it makes a big difference. I doubt any center speaker can match as perfectly as an exact copy of the mains. It's going to be pretty amazing once those are all placed where they are going and set.

  9. My favorite times were Daddy-pitch (7-8's) when a 40-35 score was NOT uncommon. Then you go to kid-pitch (9-10) where the score could be 12-10 with two hits (LOTS of walks!). At 11-12 it really is real baseball. BTW, if you are allowed to lead off, steals are automatic, unless you are playing on Pony League fields where it is further than little league distance. I will also tell you that at the 12 yo level, the catcher is the most important player on the field. Not the pitcher, not the SS. It's where I want my smartest player. That's because he is handling the ball on EVERY play, and what he does, and even MORE importantly, what he DOESN'T do can lose ball games. The last thing you want is a catcher throwing the ball all over the place allowing base runners to get un-earned bases on every over-throw. Do not take ANY of this time for granted, and take lots of pictures. About 90% of kids are done with baseball forever after little league. +++ I didn't comment on your post about your kid's great game, but I followed it and I love hearing those stories. Baseball and dad's were made for each other! (I used to own a HS pitcher)

So while he's down there, he decides to have some fun. While his wife and kids were upstairs, he turns the sound up on his AVR and plays a loud table saw sound (I'm guessing on Youtube). The kids said to mom, "Should we go stop him!" Mom replies...."He's a grown man....a hard headed grown man". LOL

  16. Yeah, I guess there is always some form of compromise with a "center" channel speaker because it does not use identical drivers & an identical size cabinet. Not that center channels are bad, but having an identical speaker is just that much nicer. I know, I'm pretty excited. Wakejunkie's disk fusion surgery in his neck went well. They ended up finding two bone spurs that were causing the pain and numbing in his arm. He's 1 week into recover so he should be able to get started on it sometime next week. It will likely be several months before he is able to begin any type of construction work on the new false wall and that's perfectly ok with me. His health is far more important than any project he could work on for me.

  20. Just curious on your thoughts of why the 2-way would be an upgrade to a 3-way design. Ha, I'm not sure that design has any potential of being a great speaker combined like that. It was fun compositing it in photoshop though. Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up on that one. Missed your post...2 way lascala with 510 built in to top hat maybe factory split rather than on top mounted the way a couple or few people have done around here. That could actually end up being somewhat economical and would be the best 2 way speaker in production from any manufacturer imo...unless we go into the $12k range or use pro audio gear...Just a thought...Im sure it would get a ton of good attention, or attention regardless if good or bad and that's good in the long run normally...I have never heard this combo that im aware of but not being a 2 way person unless you go with good bookshelves basically and a descent powered sub id love to hear and consider buying. At that point id love to see a 2 way cornscala type speaker redone with direct 15 and the 510. sort of like a 904 with a single 15 and maybe a passive like a chorus ii...Or even a dual 12 with the 510 sort of like the cf4...there are so many combos klipsch would really take leaps with putting pro gear together for home use that this forum and others would take attention to. And if they were to offer the pro style it would save cost for people who cannot or wont pay for fruitwood veneer(fruitwood is the most interesting if you can find it, and costly)or birch, oak etc... Your photoshop 7iii is totally feasible. I hate saying it but I don't see the klipsch engineers of this day taking something like that on...and id say it would be more a pro rf7 and cost too much for any particular spot in the audio market but it would be sweet A 3 way reference is a sure bet with great odds for klipsch imo and from many others from what I read...Not all the way palladium but 3 way klipsch reference is a homerun without doubt... I gotta be real with what we see... There is already a new reference soundbar and the rebadge icons is without doubt following voxx fashion. A great new speaker is below an option in the future with klipsch. We gotta be happy with what klipsch has already produced imo...and I hope im wrong....It is a tough world for audiophile production these days...but that's no reason to flop the already flops. Even if klipsch would make a new speaker for many audiophiles to buy may take a year or likely longer...unless its a real good speaker its called a kpt-325!

  21. I know, really I do, since I've had LaScalas. Once people actually hear them, in working order, it's hard to say no. Miss the pair I sold, but stuff is stuff and I still have the beater pair I am redoing. In the meantime, our Heresy IIs are serving us well.

  22. I know you must be sick to your stomach. Stuff is stuff and it can always be replaced but it's still painful to see it taken away from you. I'm confident in due time, you will have a system that equals or rivals your previous setup. Everyone please ignore all of my early forum comments regarding how dated and ugly the heritage speakers are. LOL. Truth is the looks of the LaScalas grew very quickly on me after hearing them in my own home. They do have an older style to them and I still prefer the looks of the Reference Series but at the end of the day, my desire is to have the best sound over the best looking speaker. I'm 100% confident I made the right decision by moving from the RF-83 to the LaScala. And by adding the third LaScala, simply put it over the top for me. Now I know firsthand why many here have recommended three identical speakers up front whenever possible. Seamless, HUGE soundstage that just fills my 13' x 19' x 10' with detail and clarity unlike any speaker I have owned before.

  24. Bruce, I purchased a pair of LS locally, fell in love with them and mentioned that it would probably be forever till I found a single LS. Within about 2 weeks, wstrickland said he had three LS and had a buyer for a pair so he had a single he was willing to sell to me. He had plans to come to FL in a month so he delivered it to my house and it just happened to have the identical finish! Having a LS Trio up front is absolutely amazing

  25. Thanks... And all I did was clean clean clean... Found out that metal polish works best on the old bake-light knobs. Plain Windex on the glass front and back, Ketchup on the green oxidization, brake fluid to remove the clearcoat on the brass, and finally a grey scotch pad to brush the brass finish to look factory. They only thing I should do is put some black paint in the bottom lettering indentations, and re-clearcoat the faceplate. I will eventually do that. I have also done the internals, and replaced many tubes. The receiver sounds great.

  35. I'm a custom builder. I prefer to build from the ground up, using the best parts available. I'm mostly interested in delivering the best sound possible. The large Heritage loudspeakers are prone to bleeding the ears out, and seriously, I will never understand how some of you can stand to listen to them without good films and a tweak or two. I'm "expensive" because my builds are time consuming and my parts cost a lot. I handle PCB work a little differently. Rarely does someone want to invest this kind of money into a pair of loudspeakers they got off of eBay for peanuts -- so I use different parts, which changes the pricing structure. I think many of you have disabled the signature feature, and so you don't see my email and website addresses. I know this because too often I see questions that I address on my site. I'm buried. If I didn't have a half dozen builds ahead of you, I would take on this work and do the recap. Seriously, you need to send all of this stuff to Bob Crites. The downside is that because of the volumes you listen at -- I think you're going to be disappointed (unless you've already destroyed your hearing, in which case it won't matter). This opinion has nothing to do with the quality of the work that comes out of Bob's shop. I don't like the AL/AK series of networks, and if I was doing the work, I would put you in a choke hold until you tapped out and did it right. I see you shoot a Glock. I guess that means you're also saving up for a 1911.

  37. HUH..http://www.danleysoundlabs.com/products/subwoofers/tapped-horns/th-spud/ It says they go to 19hz. 60hz would be no better than a La Scala. La Scala rolls off near 100 Hz. Tapped horns get distorted near 60 Hz. Leaving a pitfall between 60 - 100 Hz to fill, best way to fill in this situation would to EQ the mains

  38. 13' x 19' with 10' ceilings....maybe it's the 17mm wide angle lens? My rear riser is 10' x 5.5'. The Danley TH Spud is only 4' wide at the longest side. Would need two of them just to fit my rear seats. And if my memory serves me correctly, it is over $2000 per HT Spud. At $4000, I plus two amps, I can easily see where the law of diminishing returns kicks in. I would be interested to hear a TH Spud at some point since it's just hard for me to see how 8" woofers would outperform 15" drivers.

  44. Chrysler Corp. takes customers for a spin Under-dash phonograph in a 1956 DeSoto. DETROIT – Back in the early 1950s there were many fewer music radio stations, and if you didn’t like those that were within range, your only choice was to shut the radio off and listen to the road, the engine noise and the splat of bugs on the windshield. Then in 1956, Chrysler Corporation stepped up to offer car buyers a new listening option – an in-car phonograph. The players, made by Columbia, were mounted on the bottom edge of the dash, directly above the transmission hump, and were wired directly into the car radio. Pressing a button on the front cover of the player opened it, allowing the turntable to be slid outward. Flipping a switch on the left side of the player bypassed the radio tuner, and the radio’s amplifier then could boost the signal from the player while volume, tone and balance could be controlled by the regular radio knobs.
