  1. Morning gang, I tried to post all day yesterday. But couldn't get service where I was. I had my first bbq contest yesterday. My buddy and teammate made a awesome sausage fatty that placed 5th. We also did chicken, people's choice ribs, and competition ribs. Though we didn't place in any on those, we did beat some local pro competitors. But sometimes you just have a bad run. I need to work on my texture, but there were a lot of 9s for flavor. I don't remember to take pictures, but did manage to get one of the chicken. And for Tigerman.

  2. No that particular cutie is LF's niece. She is 22 y/o and in college and the Army. Finished PT first in her group. Goes to school about an hour away. Came to visit to have a quiet place to study. We had a good meal and a fun time. She straightens out our computer problems for us while she is here. We feed her and I'm allowed to carry her popcorn while she studies. LF never had children and neither did I. Use to call people like us DINKS. Been on here too long today. Good night gents.

  3. Japanese Coffee Grinder, with whole beans in the container, and my Melita espresso maker, I also use spring water (deer park) I have to work for a cup My problem is I love the taste / smell of coffee, but I cannot take the caffeine, so finding a GOOD BOLD COFFEE flavor in Decaf is tough Most off the shelf decaf is weak as Pi$$ So I found a botique that does decaf French Roast and I grind 2 Tbsp at a time for a really bold cup o decaf

  5. Been drinking java with half & half most of the time lately. Just emptied the pot black into a cup, and added a shot of Black Velvet, after we removed and cleaned the hot water supply to the washing machine. Was barely trickling out. Just needed a flushing and cleaning of the screen. Have to celebrate these little victories.

  7. Thanks Duder! Is that a recently designed mug? I have one here that was a gift. Different design, I will post my coffee in it soon... Good going on your BBQ competition... I was in a blues band that was providing music at a major BBQ competion and that was pretty interesting! It was like being at a big fair, only it was all about the food and music. Competitors were from all up and down the east coast.... Ok, off to tackle my snow removal here at home. I just heard we are in for some kind BLIZZARD !! Well, it has been a very quiet winter so far, so I guess it is about time huh? .....gw

  13. Happy Sunday, all.Baxter got through his first day at 'school' with flying colors ...i.e., no slobber neck wrestling or puppy riots started. I think the whole deal is much more stressful on the dog parents than the dogs. Duder - good looking chicken. Keep up the good work. We have a warmer day today and seriously thinking about firing up the smoker for ribs. Will let ya know.

  14. Good morning Sportster and coffee gang (0: Just poured the first of a few cups...... These mugs are from a very nice Inn up in Vermont where I started snowmobiling back in 1980.... Actually bought these from the gals that are the current owners, lovely place, and the quaint atmosphere in the little dining area is perfect. It is not unlike a good old New England B&B (0; Used to be able to ride from our door to the trails, but a land owner closed the small feeder trail to the inn some years ago. All for now, breakfast started here as well .....

It has the Audyssey MultEQ XT32 but I have to buy an Audyssey Microphone before I can try it out. Wakejunkie will be getting one of the receivers. It should be a nice upgrade from his Denon AVR791 and he will finally have Preouts so we can begin to look for him a 3ch amp for his front soundstage. I will need to replace some of the batteries in the Monster HTUPS. I'm going to keep the Harmony 900 and sell my Harmony One. Will be nice to have RF capabilities. I bought everything as a Lot so some of the items I don't need will be put up for sale. My wife is leaving today at 2pm to get ready for her Half Marathon tomorrow so I can play to my heart's content. Today is going to be a fun Saturday!

  25. Mark, What is missing from your Keynesian analysis is the supply side equation. In your example, producing one cake generates the same gross revenue as producing and selling nine cakes. Further this is an overly simplistic view of economics and widely discredited based on its simplicity. Linear demand functions aside, there are many more factors affecting demand. Further, as you argued (I think)in the cables discussion, increasing the price of some articles (non-commodity) actually increase the demand as the perception of value increases with price. Also factor in the elasticity of demand for the product when describing the demand curve. As an example, if the supply of water was severely curtailed, at some point price would likely not change the demand as it is necessary for life. (Infinitely inelastic demand curve). In any case, without objective data, setting a rational price for the speaker is impossible. I suggest that anyone really interested in buying the speaker do some research and present the seller with the basis for their offer. Just sayin'

  27. No, no, no. Electronic devices run on smoke. As long as you keep the smoke in the amp everything will work fine. As soon as there is a leak and some smoke is let out, the amp will quit working. I thought everybody knew that?

  31. It's about where they all go after a while, things get slow and there's no telling where it's going after that. Ok I'm guilty... alot...........but I can't think of anything audio that we haven't talked about at least twice. Okay, remember that song from The Cowsills called “Hair?” There this thread is legit again. But, please no more talk of where the hair is growing.

  33. Yes we are. First plane I flew in was a civ revision of a P-51M that my cousin rebuilt. Even got to pilot it a bit. I was the coolest 14 year old ever for those few minutes of flight time. Not Mach 1, but certainly a rush.

  35. i finally got it done - here are some pics - forte II with bobs x over - tweeter and Mid Ti - i just did it last night - i havnt really listened much - but i dont see any problem with the Mid ti - i was nervous hearing alot of Neg. about the Mid Ti - after i already purchased them - so wasnt sure what to expect but i am OK with it sounds very good to me in my place - - its eary on - cant say till i listen more - but so far - i like what i hear - i have them direct mode - no processing - no EMO EQ - no exciter - and yes i can hear the Mid a bit more forward - but not to where i dont like it - the bass handles it well and balances it out - so for now first glance at this - i have to say - i like it so far - here are some pictures

  37. Obviously you have never seen the new reality show, "Flip This Speaker." It is the story of an experienced audiophile, formerly operating his own boutique firm, who buys and sells high end equipment. It stars a dashing, devil may care man in his golden years who travels the world seeking out that "special deal." Subplots include intrigue, brief relationships with the world's most beautiful women, and the occasional argument with online adversaries.

  39. As they say, it's not the years, it's the miles - "and I'm afraid the indiscretions of my youth have finally caught up with me". Everyone over here keeps telling me that 56 isn't old, but it sure feels like it. I thought Cancer was going to do me in, but I'm here to tell you, take care of your back. There was a great line in the show Justified a couple of seasons ago -"growing old ain't for *******". Still, life is good. I'm still here and the kids are doing pretty good, and Deb is hanging in there. She has a very nasty autoimmune disease, the kind of which I can't pronounce, and she holds it mostly at bay with an AIP DIet. I would imagine that most here are dealing with something. And I think it would be a good idea if we prayed for one another. I know I come off like a hardass sometimes, and I'm sorry about that. It would really help if you all just would just start agreeing with me. Thanks for the thread, that was thoughtful.

  42. Next time maybe I'll try the laptop camera. The laptop would not read all the pictures on the card from the camera, so I fired up the old win xp, transferred the pics to a folder, then attached. But first I tried putting the xd card straight into the laptop, no read, then had to fight the card out lol. That's the short version.

  44. Quite the opposite from me Gary … this was my view as i drank my morning coffee (sorry for the less than clear photo, i was holding the phone in one hand while not wanting to put the coffee down). p.s. if anyone can tell me how to make the forum stop posting all my photos as thumbnails, please take me to school…I can make the photo size 2.0 (which the forum says is the max) but it still posts as a tiny thumbnail. Just so you all know -- this photo of the Pacific is NOT actual size.
