I appreciate all the prayers and well wishes. I am doing very well all considered. I can walk using a walker or if I hang onto someone for balance. This should improve over time. I have been refered to Vanderbuilt University to see a specialist. I am waiting on that right now. I will be out of work for at least 6 more weeks. Thanks to all.9 points

Ahhh yes, another commission check in the mail I am trying to talk Joe into opening an online audio store. With his knowledge, and all the people on the Forum who have this illness, I think he could likely be very successful. What say you all?5 points

Two days ago, at 36 years old, my best friend Wakejunkie had two strokes. For the most part he's doing fine. Has some balance issues and cannot walk without assistance. Dr said its a miracle he is alive. Only 10% survive from a stroke like he had and he had two making it around 1% of people that survive. Here is the latest update from his wife Update: the doctor has confirmed that it is a tear in his vertebral artery alone causing the strokes. It is a life changing event. The doctor said it is a miracle that he didn't die and to count this as a second chance. He will not be able to play sports anymore, go to the chiropractor, or pop his neck without risk of causing another tear. He should heal from his present symptoms over the next three months but doctor says risk of re-injury is great. It is a weakness of connective tissue and not from previous surgery. Treatment for this event is major blood thinners until the tear heals and then an aspirin type regiment. Please keep him in prayer as he adjusts to these changes.4 points

Hello, I'm a new member to the forum, but have been looking around here for a few months. I'm defiantly not an expert in home audio. music is a big part of my life though and I finally got a pair of chorus 2s. Until about two weeks ago, I'd been powering them with a yamaha rxv992. I thought it sounded really good. So when it quit working I bought a newer yamaha rxv2700. I probably jumped the gun on the purchase because I don't think I'll ever hook up more than two speakers to it. It also seems a little complicated. I've read a few posts that speak highly of Adcom components and also Marantz. Any advice on either of these two brands would be appreciated. Also, if there is a better option I would be open to suggestions. Thanks in advance.4 points

Well the new DAC has been ordered after much hand ringing and help from Joe and Carl. Years back I wouldn't blink at spending this rather paltry sum but retirement and going from two incomes to one changes things. I really was convinced that I was through buying equipment But I have three lottery tickets for Powerball tonight so who knows. Jake has new and larger food and water bowls so he is happy. Told me to say woof to Baxter. Going to the paint store to buy ceiling, wall, and trim paint for the dining room. My painter works at a paint store and will get the job knocked out Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.....his days off. Then to the foyer. LF fed and off to play tennis. Road trip for ribs with two friends tomorrow. Start a diet the following week Always think of Boxx when I use that emoticon. Cheers Gents4 points

Happy Wednesday guys. Snowy morning in Denver. We saw our friends off and they are now safely home in Texas. My music playing partner is back in the hospital so I'll be heading over to see him in a bit. Maybe I'll have more cheery news later!! Tarheel, thanks again for the coaching. Cheers to all.............3 points

Thx for asking Sancho. Shaun went to the Dr. yesterday. He is still having trouble walking without help due to dizziness and balance issues. They are sending him to Vanderbuilt to see a specialist. My plan is to make a trip to Alabama to see him in 3 weeks.3 points

Anybody try cold brewing their coffee? It is supposed to cut down on the acidity of the coffee and it certainly does change the taste. It takes out some of the bite and makes it much smoother and it seems like you can taste more of the flavor if that makes any sense. I bought a Filtron cold brew and have only made one batch so far. Not too bad! You wind up with a coffee concentrate that you can store in the fridge for weeks. I heat up some filtered water and add about an ounce of the concentrate. You would think it would taste stale but I find that it tastes the same even after a couple weeks in the fridge.2 points

Yea I also changed the grind to fine and that takes 3 times as long with the manual grinder, Becoming quite the work out, I found myself wondering how I could attach my 12 volt dewalt to that grinder2 points

Hey nickyboy6100 welcome to forum...... The ChorusII's that you have are one of my favorite of all my speakers. Out of all the speakers I own I use my Chorus line the most(at the house). Don't get me wrong I love all my Klipsch........but when it comes to concert level......chest thumping sound my Chorus will be powerd-up. The ChorusII was one of the first Klipsch speakers I hear way back in the day. A buddie of mine got four of them and two Carver Cube amps. I was absoutely blown away........When those little lights started jumping on those Carver Cubes......I could not belive the sound.......that sound stuck with me......I knew one day I would own Klipsch speakers, and Carver amps......I just didn't know how many I would have. lol lol I have tried many amps with my Chorus speakers, but the one amp I think drives those speakers like no other is the Carver TFM55x,imho...that Carver will pump out 380 watts and run cool. I have two Adcom 555II's that I bridged and the Carver still made the bass hit harder on those ChorusII's. I also like the Crown amps...... Well that's my two cents......have fun with your gear.......lots of good peeps here....... I've never been a forum guy.....but I do like hanging here with a lot of the guys. Keep us posted....MKP :-)2 points

I was talking to a fellow Forum member about a cartridge we both bought. The MSRP is $775, and it is normally sold for $550 to $600. The seller mistakenly left the original invoice in the box when shipped. It was $225 to the retailer. Not a bad markup! Joe...Joe...you listening??2 points

Let's think about this... A man with a name of "Thaddeus Smith," wants to "meet up" somewhere in DFW to exchange a shotgun for $1,500. How well do you really know the alleged "Mr. Smith?" Notice that his picture omits any identifying characteristics of his face. Note the beady eyes and unconventional haircut. Worse yet, the man admits to not even owning a turntable! Hmmm.2 points

Since I've added a 2ch setup in the living room, I no longer need the HT receiver to sound great for 2ch. I was just surprised that it did sound good for 2ch listening.2 points

Once the 5008 comes back ok, the plan is to compare it to my HK 3600. My guess is the Onkyo 5008 will likely be a considerable upgrade. If that is the case, I will give the 1008 to Wakejunkie and sell the 808 and my HK.2 points

Hi, and welcome to the forum. I would suggest that you expand on what you will be doing with your system, what your sources are (turntable, CD, streaming, etc), whether you will be using it for TV, 2 channel music, etc. Also a little about your room and music tastes (rock, country, jazz, etc). That will help to get started.2 points

There is only one. The other one was likely too badly damaged to sell.2 points

Those would go great anywhere, My vote is your in charge of BM's after seeing those, I need some soon and I will blame it on you, sounds like a good excuse. I don't know who this guy is, but if I did, he would be in charge of Bloody's. I think I want something between his and yours, OK to start remove the whole chicken and replace it with one more of whatever that is wrapped in bacon ? That's crazy, but I'd try it That thing could have kept me from getting off the couch for the whole super bowl.2 points

Just received a text from his wife, they have moved Shaun to a regular room. He was able to get to the bathroom with a walker and ate a few M&M's. We are grateful for even the baby steps. I called his room and talked to him briefly as I know he needs to rest. His nausea is still pretty bad....he said it's like he's on a Tilt-a-Whirl ride 24/7. It's hard to describe how I feel knowing what he's been through and what he may go through in the days ahead. I have hope and faith but at the same time, there is sadness in my heart because I can't do anything to make it better. I prayed with him before getting off the phone.2 points
