  3. Good morning friends.... Just took this with Chuck in mind, some Starbuck's and vintage Hammond and Leslie 'to go' .... This instrument was bought by the folks brand new in '67 and has followed me to my third home. Chuck, the 'key click' filter removed and the 145 has some Goff updates.. This old girl screams when pushed (0; Sunny here, perfect day for roof raking the neighbors home while they are away in FL. for 2 months ... Enjoy the day everyone (0:

  5. Good morning JL. This is the E100..(walnut finish / contemporary style like an A-100)......would the sister be the E-300 (church model)? That model lacked the percussion, brush and cymbal crash effects.. When I took lessons at the Hammond dealer (for 4 years!) I would LOVE it when the teacher would have the lesson on an H-100 ! I would try to use those added 10th and llth drawbars, and of course, she would push them right back in on me (as they were not to be used....I figured the high pitches drove her nuts ) Earl, you are right, it is a 'Wood Technologies' stand, normally I use it to hold the remote lighting controls, but, I did not want to set the tasty morning beverage anywhere near the fine finish....it is generally prohibited in our firm as well, although, organists do it all the time, and we find stains and ruined finishes more often then not on the consoles ! All for the moment, thanks for the likes and comments as ever ......Gary

  7. Sunny, windy, and a little cool. Coffee done.....still using Mayorga brand beans from Costco. No compelling reason to change...good taste and price. Grind daily. Lady friend off to play tennis. My only chore is to go to the paint store for a couple of gallons of Kiwi Gold to paint the foyer. Gold? I know but it's not bad. Will look good next to the dining room which is Cactus Flower. Painter is coming Sunday and Monday his days off from the paint store. May break out the chain saw and clean up some broken limbs from the ice storm. Day 6 of all protein. Beginning weight 189.6. This morning 183.0. Think I will transition to Atkins today which allows salads. Cheers Gents

  8. The 130" screen is absolutely the perfect sixe for his HT. It is big enough to be totally immersive from the beanbag and still allows room on the sides to be accented by the custom stonework. The Epson 8350 provides a fantastic image! Colors rendered look natural and really pop, especially when the lights are dim or fully off. Lighting is controlled through a Lutron Spacer that provides 4 Lighting Scenes. I now understand why they spend literally HOURS as a family listening to Music. Wake connects to Spotify via a HTPC and a wireless keyboard. When running on a PC, Spotify allows you to select almost any song from almost any artist and sounds MUCH better than Youtube videos and the basic version of Pandora. Shaun's wife Holly would make for an incredible DJ. She plays a variety of music from club, hip hop, 80's & 90's hits from Peter Gabriel to 10,000 Maniacs to Black Eyed Peas to Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel. There isn't many genres she doesn't listen to. It's awesome hearing music I haven't heard since I was a teenager and a song later, listening to current hits. It's like listening to a Jukebox! Funny thing is she LOVES it loud! Remember I mentioned at the beginning she was cranking as I'm typing....well she's still cranking tunes!

  9. I thought I would get comfortable by the fireplace with the laptop. While I'm typing, Shaun's wife is chilling on their 8' beanbag playing DJ and cranking some tunes at 98db from with spotify. being projected on his 130" Custom AT screen with electric masking (also built by wake), I can devote some time to sharing. 12. Thanks for that Chuck The Leslie controller is all the way to the left, there used to be a second one in the mid space, and the one to the right is the usual 'main-ensemble-echo' .... But yes, you are right. Now, there is a mod that can change the percussion to that of the older models (A_B_C's). I was really thinking of doing that, but with switches on the rear so that all can be easily reversed. One of the important mods I installed is Goff's treble driver. Never need to worry about creating that 'kazoo' effect again! Mark, how was that breakfast ? It will be another experiment tomorrow morning with RICE flour pancakes here. I find that to be a real challenge, but my dad has that off to a tee, something I need to fine tune a bit more for better results Ok, off to roof rake some more........(the neighbors house that is......) ........Gary

  13. Thanks, Gary. In addition to whatever Goff mods were made to the Leslie, the organ has 2 half moons for connection to 2 Leslies!! Cool. Anytime one can bypass the internal speaker on a Hammond to connect to an external Leslie is cause for celebration. Appreciate the pic.

  14. I would like to find a way to get Ginger from barking at the dogs next door. When she does she digs and makes a big mess. Still working on the first cup, had Dunken doughnuts for breakfast. Now the wife is talking grocery store oh well at least I will get it done and over for the week.

  15. Mornin' guys. 2 cups down. Cold but sunny today right now but more weather is on the way for Denver. The traffic heading to the ski areas makes I-70 look like a parking lot. The southwest corner of the state is getting absolutely blasted with snow measured in feet. That doesn't always happen, but it's not a rarity either. This will be Baxter's last 'official' day of dog school. We will probably skip graduation next week since we really need more time to work with him. The challenge this spring will be training him to stay out of the flower gardens, We have the tools for training, but the snow has made it impossible to work with him outdoors. Have a great Saturday. Try to check back.

  16. Here is a quick demo showing the Custom Masking that Wake built using the motor from his previous electric screen. On the Harmony One, he can adjust the masking using two presets to switch between 16:9 and 2.35:1 as well as a manual stop to allow for any other format (2.40:1 etc).

  17. If you peek to the right of the RF-7ii, you will find a pair of 18" FI-IB318 IB Subs. They are each being fed 2000 watts from a Behringer EPX4000. The subs are highlighted by red LED lighting. Right now as we speak, (yes 2.5hrs later Holly is STILL DJing for us). I'm 20' away from the subs and I'm feeling the bass everytime it hits. One thing I REALLY appreciate is you absolutely cannot tell where the subs are in the room. They blend in perfectly with the RF-7's. I had Shaun play the Ironhide Flip scene from Transformers. Are you kidding me? These subs reach ridiculous low notes (ones that I didn't know existed). When the subs drop, you know it and it takes awhile to unstretch the smile from your face. It's more than just sound... it's truly an experience without being overwhelming. When something explodes, you are ready to run for cover. Yes, they are indeed that good. I know it's not good to be jealous...but I am. I'm not sure we could reach the limits of these subs without going deaf. Before coming to visit, I demoed the Galvatron Chase Scene in Transformers: Age of Extinction. I knew I was in for a treat when Optimus and Bumblebee flipped over the overpass. I was not disappointed. One part of that scene at stood out was when Galvatron fired one of the rockets. I completely felt something that I did not feel from my RSW-15's. My guess is since the RSW-15's play down to around 20hz, that sequence contained sub 20hz frequencies. Shaun has run REW software and his subs have no problem reaching into the single digits. Those are frequencies you don't hear....you simply "experience" them. Keep in mind, this room is 5,184 cubic feet! There isn't a spot in the entire room (nor the rest of the house) that you can escape the power of the dual 18's. This was my first experience hearing IB subs. For some reason, I see a pair of Maple RSW-15's that may be up for sale after we rebuild my front wall. I would absolutely love to have these subs in my HT!

  20. Not only is wake's HT functional, it's elegant and absolutely gorgeous! All of the wood trim (except for the rope trim and corbels), including the mantle itself was built by wakejunkie with a beautiful red oak. The right RS-35 is hidden behind the grill cloth built into the mantle. These two pieces were wake's first project after the 3 strokes. I believe even Harry Potter himself would appreciate these custom pieces. Custom Elder Wand from Harry Potter Custom The Deathly Hallows

  24. Finished my last cup of "the morning," a dark roast Sumatran I made in my smallest Italian pressure pot. Yum. Didn't get out of bed until 1100 when my faithful dog came in an stuck her nose in my face as my son and I didn't get home until nearly midnight last night from Galveston. Got to cross seeing Hal Holbrook perform "Mark Twain Tonight" off my bucket list. Probably just in time as he is 90 and it's his 61rst year of doing it. The performance was at the Grand 1894 Opera House, and, of course, precisely the setting Mark himself would have performed in. I can tell you that, as I expected, it was NOT a performance, but Mark Twain himself. Unbelievable. I shed a tear as he shuffled off the stage and the lights went down, and thought a prayer of gratitude that I had the opportunity to experience this. Earth shall not see his like again... I have two 6 eye Columbia mono LPs of him doing this 50 years ago I've treasured. My son dozed a little in the second hour, but really enjoyed most of it. Dave

  25. Morning gang A wee bit on the nippy side right now, 48 and im going for long sleeves. 62 with possible thunderstorms, yeah like that's going to happen. Watercraft is covered, first cup is tasting mighty fine. Nothing planned today, waiting on Panic Button parts from the Bay. My calender is now confirmed as to plans made last summer, no chance of Hope gathering this year. I will be in Arz dropping $32K for two eighteen wheelers and an 8 man "Airworthy Crew", two week time frame. one plane to fly and one to ship to Nevada, then back to clean the (Sold) hanger.

  28. Thanks for tips, guys! I was successfully able to glue down the outer edges of the accordion surrounds, and make sure all the seals are air tight. Pushing on the passive makes the big woof move outwards, and vice versa. I'm thrilled with the sound, and Crites Ti diaphragms are on their way. Don't get me wrong, the stock poly diaphragms are fine, but the Crites add extra air and detail. I was hesitant about the black finish, but seeing it in person, it is quite sleek and modern. They weren't exactly cheap, but I'm happy to pay market price for such an awesome speaker that doesn't pop up too often, or for very long when they do. :-D

  31. Afternoon my friends... Ok JL ... Yes, I had one of those 'harp' sustain transistors go as well. I have a FULL sustain board from an H-100 at our shop, so plenty there to scoff from. OH, the amp. When this one was BRAND NEW, it was only a couple months into daily practice and use, and something would short out and then you could here the wax in a transformer burning up!!! The service man from Hammond at the time mentioned something about the rectifier tube and the terminals under the chassis at the socket were arcing and shorting! So, he did what ever at the time and that ended that, lucky NO damage to the transformer. Then, we had him stop by again to install a headphone jack so I could practice silently. Many years back, I removed all that wiring and the leaf switch that went with it. Installed the Leslie kit.......that is all... To this day, the organ runs flawlessly (even though these 100 series organs were considered TOTAL 'dogs', and working on them is even worse. But, the sound they make, makes up for all of that. They are also a HAIR off A-440 when you run them along an older model with the sync AC motors. Something I discovered one day when I had a number of Hammonds in the livingroom I could notes on two of them and there would be a slow 'celeste' going on between them. Probably something no one ever knew or cared about. Sorry for the long post.... Had to get that all in a few paragraphs .....Gary

  34. We knew you would eventually come around . Youth thanks for sharing your trip with us, the pics you are taking are great. I loved the panoramic view of the room, you really show cased Wake's room nicely. Wake is such and inspiration to folks like me who like to build everything they can. Every time I read a post about what he does, I think I want to do that. If you can, try get Holly to play some Amy Winehouse. I have to blame Thebes for turning me onto her, but she sounds wonderful. Wake, take care man. If you put the effort towards your health as you did your theater room(which I know you will), in no time you will be back to being you if not even stronger. Peace be with you.

  35. Stunning! The woodwork on the frame for the screen is un-believable! +++ My dad had suffered a stroke as well, but he is gone now due to causes unrelated to his stroke. I have some sense of what Wakejunkie may be going through. I want Wakejunkie to know that the mind is an incredible thing, and my dad made an almost complete recovery from his. When part of brain is affected by the stroke, it re-routes the neuro-pathways and finds new ways to process the information. I am completely hopeful that Wakejunkie can make his recovery as well, and it sounds like he is well on his way. Continuing to walk, talk, think and do his woodworking is all good therapy. And based on the incredibly beautiful woodworking I saw from the pictures, I think things will continue to get better day-by-day. Good luck Wakejunkie, we are all pulling for you.

  36. Here is a shot of his Media Rack. We removed the Denon from it's position and replaced it with an Onkyo TX-NR1008 (will take a new photo tomorrow). The equipment is easilly accessible from the rear by exiting the HT into the shop. The equipment is enclosed and includes a door to enter the space for the rear of the rack. Can I say I'm TOTALLY jealous of this? Many of you can relate to me when I say I have to reach behind my equipment and feel by hand where the connections go. With this setup, it was incredibly simple to install his new receiver.

  37. What 'news' can you trust anymore? Absolutely EVERY network, EVERY cable channel, EVERY website, and EVERY newspaper has either shown to be biased or has been accused of being biased. One persons 'go to' news source is another persons 'you are a fool if you 'go to' that source', while they use a 'go to' source that someone can also call them a fool for using. Heck, you can't even 'go to' the government anymore for the truth!

  43. When I turned 18, my roommates took me to a local bar. I had never drank in high school so I was naïve at best. They started buying shots of 151. They lit theirs and told me I was not yet "experienced" enough to do that. Of course they were burning the alcohol off their drinks. After 6 or 7 in a short time I was beyond help. I walked up to a girl, spun her around and kissed her. After that, all I remember is a blur coming at my face. She slapped me and knocked me out. My roommates picked me up and carried me back to my room. I woke up a day latter in a pile of puke. I was sick for four days. I NEVER DRANK 151 AGAIN. My roommates told me the girl was screaming, "I killed him, oh god, I killed him." For four days I wished she had.

  45. Looks like I'm a bit late getting in on this thread, more like a blanket than a thread! 336 pages, Jez! So yeah being off work Friday and Monday rank quite high; I retired in Nov. which ranks highest. Kept busy nearly every day with home projects that were put off and off and off. Now no hurry to get them done and have them lined up and some finished. Upstairs/ hallways painted - finished. Re-grout shower/ new shower doors - finished. Now working on a freshening of the finished basement worthy of my new KHorns. About half way complete. I'll post somes pics when ready. And amongst this are 3-4 mile daily walks when weather allows and riding my MC's whenever possible. My two drugs - hifi and bikes. Coffee - all day, every day. French press most often, older GE percolater on the weekend and a Bialetti expresso maker for a quick launch. An in-expensive, stove top maker that's really slick and brews a damn nice 1/2 cup or so. Well back to work, getting ready to shampoo the carpet, then install new baseboards and assemble new equipment rack.
