  1. Good Monday Morning Gang Will start Monday by taking the wife into her slightly major dental work, at least she will be stoned for the next few days, she does not like to take pain pills, finely convinced her, "That's Why They Give Them". Zip planned because in retirement< Mondays do NOT exist.

  3. Busy week ahead. Finally take car back in for oil change. Mow the yard after picking up. (love that). Maybe some cutting and stacking bush. Get a new pair of glasses. Thinking I can get more done while the cat is away. Get some batch pad provisions fresh. Beer or 2. Inside, finally time to do 5.1 or 7.1 setup with a monitor. The 50 inch set is 100 lbs. approx. It is sitting on an old school large tv stand, crt bought for purpose. Yes, she looks at me thinking, he really does not know a clue. No original stand could find so just took a chance for tv set option with a Stance. The pidgeon toed metal stand from amazon is minimal and sturdy No wall penetration desired atm. Want minimal, uncluttered and not fussy Will take more than 1 day so, some fun running some wire for myself. Want to hear the sr7500 through the Klipsch 5.1 RSX5 with RCX-4 Center. The audio amplifier in the Panasonic set is like around 80 watts, or 40 wpc. Have run the 5's since setting up the set. Marvelous... Hook up the 5.5 to the set and listen for fun. Looks like I have no time to do all I can. Just do it, Better eat some Wheaties then with coffee.

  4. When I built my house 5 years ago I wanted to use PEX but was advised against it by my super. He said mice and other vermin would chew on/through it.

  5. Coffee and cinnamon rolls. Overcast and muggy here. May tidy the place up a bit as LF is on her way back. Dave I haven't heard much about your new cartridge. How do you like it? Just reading the thread on the $27 DAC from Amazon. Wondering how different DACs can sound to warrant the price differences. I'm still happy with my Maverick Tube Magic @ $250. Christy and dtel......get to work on my suite. Doing a rain dance for you California boys. Cheers Ladies and Gents

  7. Pex is great and is more resistant to freezing. It's easy to work with. CAUTION: If it gets cold enough, It will also freeze.

  9. Happy Monday, all. Erand running and tending the roses top the list today. Also need to get some tunes going again ... when I'm playing a lot of music I tend to not listen much and that's been the case lately. Speaking of BBQ (huh?) we smoked a big batch of chicken thighs with pecan wood yesterday afternoon. All indirect heat. Really good stuff ... may want to try it if you haven't. As always, cheers!

  11. We have now officially started our typical summer south east TX weather cycle. Torrential rain followed by grass burning drought. 95 or 96 degrees all week and into the weekend with zero chance of rain. All our plants naturally love this.

  12. There's enough "daves" here to form a "Dave SIG," but if you mean me and the 2M Black, it's to cartridges what my K'horn's are to speakers. I'm done. OTOH, God help me if I trash the stylus. 500.00. Ouch. Dave

  15. Chuck, if you are happy with your DAC stick with it (ignorance is bliss) , upgrading is a never ending process The differences between Dacs is basically improved or worse (depending on the dac and your tastes) Clarity, detail, resolution, & grain, (the rest of the sound spectrum can come into play) but those are the biggies for swapping a dac Afternoon guys

  16. If you're having a freezing issue, the composition of the pipe isn't the issue. Be sure that whatever pipe you're using is insulated. If you plan on using a drain to clear the lines in the winter, make sure there's no sag in the lines and that they gradually slope toward the drain. It's a good idea to add a fitting by the high point that you can use to introduce compressed air to help clear the lines. Mice LOVE plastic. They'll eat the insulation off the wiring in your automobile as well.

  18. Just goofin' on ya. The second sub is still in the garage getting cleaned up. All used, owned by someone else equipment gets a thorough going over before it comes in the house. Wife's orders, don't wanna lose any bush stacking privileges.

  19. What kind of flex pipe and what was wrong with the copper??? PEX. Copper pipes have frozen and swollen. Using PEX and installing ball valve and drain for draining pipes in winter.

  20. Look up PEX flexible pipe. When I had my outside faucets replaced they used the stuff. The plumber told me he has seen it run out doors and not burst from freezing.

  22. Over the weekend, I picked up two used La Scala I speakers. Cabinets are a little scuffed, but otherwise they appear to be in fine condition. They will be integrated into a home theater I am building in my soon-to-be refinished basement (3 x LS speakers across the front). I am already talking with Greg Roberts about a total gut-rehab for the speakers - more to follow!

  24. Yes, the goal was to include everything you normally get with the product directly in the little case it comes in. That way when you decide to keep one you get all the accessories.

Back to self now, and resting after my hardly work weekend. Wait, it is noon time here. pop... Can drink those all day long and type a straight line. Hardly beer!

  48. Keep the Quartets together... They're getting harder to find. As mentioned you can use one as a center and the other could be used as a "center back" speaker in a 6.1 setup. If you happen to have a big "box type" subwoofer in the back of the room you can put the Quartet on top of it. That big Tractrix midrange can really fill in the sound stage in the back of any room. They also work great as surrounds and of course two channel. Wish I still had my Quartets, Forte II's and Chorus II's... But the upgrade bug will eventually come calling and they were all sold to put together my LaScala system.
