  1. Mornin' all. I just can't make myself put a 'like' on that selfie. Glad I wasn't eating breakfast. Already had a 45 min talk with my daughter in Germany. She's within a week or two or so of delivering our second grandson. Can't wait but sure wish she was closer. Gotta run and get the grass cut while it's still cool outdoors. Check back later. Cheers.

  2. Hello everyone, and good morning.... Went through 3 days of postings, lots going on.... Glad hands are healing, car wax jobs complete, Mr. Crow looks almost complete too, and concerts are sounding good! Diana Krall always a favorite here as you know... Just wanted to let you know, The Diamond Collection (show band I am in) is playing tonight and tomorrow at a SOLD OUT double show.. This is always fun, we play Neils more obscure music at these shows vs. the mainline hits... There are a group of gals that met each other years ago via a Neil Diamond website link. They fly in from all over the country and come to BOTH shows, very cool... We all end up going out to dinner after the last show Saturday night to send them off... I will have the iPad with me, and if there is wifi from the stage, I will send some photos to you all. The lighting crew with their lights and the theater's equip. are excellent and employ LED technology (computer controlled movements and focusing etc...) And our sound tech (Artie) is wonderful... Half day at work today, stage loadin at 2pm. Sound check at 4 pm. Stage lights up at 8pm..... This year's show will feature Neil Diamond impersonators from all over the country joining us on stage, and MORE footage for an up coming movie... Keep you informed. Well, enjoy your day everyone, I will check in later if I can... .......Gary

  4. Morning Gang 91 predicted today heading to 100+ Sat/Sun. First cup is good, going for more. Will be going to that shop sale in a couple hours, see what kind of Lathe this guy has. At the momment i dont need a lathe, but Mr Crow could have used one six times in the last two weeks, and since this likely Crow #1, i will be building another, however i just remembered it takes about two or three months to collect parts, so, Servo can be had in kit form, ya-know, i should go on the Bay and buy him today(Servo).

  5. My wife's brother and wife just moved from Fairbanks (I think) and are traveling the country for a couple of years. The bought a big motorhome, sold everything back home The have been here for a few days so I have been learning about Alaska, sounds beautiful but you can keep it. If I ever go it will be to take pics and fish, I couldn't take it in the winter, no way. An amazing place but a completely different lifestyle than I am use to, between the lack of daytime for months and temperatures I couldn't handle it.

  6. Servo (Kit) is ordered. I have little choice, it took me the better part of three months to collect Crow parts. Servo is sold by a guy on the Bay as a kit. but he will sell nothing Crow because he sells completed verisions for big bucks.

  9. Congrats to you all with the good news, etc. Mystery Space Theatre 2000 was the name of the show where I saw Crow first time and his sidekick(s)(?) Probably on youtube, showed old b scif-fi movies on /Sat mornings, early 2000's. On the old Sci-Fi channel. Got a 3.5mm to go from dell to Marantz in stereo. Now that all 4 speakers working. Nancy has not absorbed that yet, sounding much more like it than mono.,lol. All she has done basically is watch Netflix practically non-stop. first near all eposodes of Xena, and now for the last few days, Enterprise. It is like she is glued to her couches...great I say. May have to use preouts to sub for the 5.1 I have in place. Work in progress, until nirvana will be nearer. It is like I became near invisible...cool beans! May have landed another Volvo , this one for me, used. Need more punishment, I guess...reading all but, no time to respond yet. Yep, the stones for sure Steve. May have been their 1st farewell tour, lol!

  10. Good morning all! The temps have shifted in the far northwest, hitting the low 40's overnight a big shift from 10 days ago where they were consistently in the low 60's overnight. It's been a warm one up here! (for US - I completely realize the relativity of "warm"!) Looking forward to cooler temps and football season!! I am almost completely worn out on the '16 presidential election coverage already, but at least we only have... oh crap 451 days to go.

  12. Good luck Gary! You need to figure out a way to stream that show. Happy Friday all. MKP, I somehow missed the story of your hand accident. Yikes. I'm glad your s**t is all in one ball now. Doesn't seem you could keep your former pace up for much longer. I cut the last 8 pieces of tile last night and will try to get them set and grout the whole floor this weekend. It's hell only getting an hour or 2 a night to work on it. On the bright side I'd probably just be sitting on my butt watching TV otherwise. Mr. crow is coming right along. I either missed it or forgot. What is his final destination? Hope everyone has a great day.

  14. It's the only show I take the time to actually watch every week. It airs Thursday nights 9PM central on the History channel. A group of guys are dropped off in the Canadian wilderness all alone with very bare essentials. Last man standing wins 1/2 a million dollars. It's down to two guys remaining after 43 days. Check it out!

  15. Break over, painting Mr Crows arms. Testers paint sucks, but it's original Lime Gold, worth the "Many Coats" it takes. Stella sounds good, back to work......

  16. Well, my persistence paid off. Told you Youthman is SUPER patient when it comes to things like this. Last week, the seller reposted the ad and had increased his asking price. I figured since he was ready to sell so I made an offer on the RSW-15 that was slightly higher than his original asking price but much less than his increased price and he accepted it. I picked it up last week. He had a pair of RF-7's and an RC-7 for sale but it was well above what I was willing to spend. For fun, yesterday I decided to text him and I told him if he was unable to sell the RF-7 and RC-7, I would be willing to offer an amount that was ridiculously lower than his asking price. To my surprise, he accepted that too! These literally have been sitting for quite sometime in his garage just taking up space. He and his wife were super nice, seemed to be very well off as well with a beautiful home on a lake. So all in all, I ended up buying a pair of Cherry RF-7's, RC-7 and an RSW-15. The RC-7 has some pretty significant creases in the woofers but the cabinet looks great. The RF-7's look great except for some paint that got on the side of one and the back of both. It's a descent amount but as you can see from the photos, you can't see the paint when they are toed in. He said there is about 3hrs of use on the RSW-15. Sad they never used it. The reason they were selling it is the wife said they had 3 focal points in the living room (Large TV with Klipsch setup on one wall, fireplace on another and a double sliding glass door that overlooked their beautiful backyard and the lake. The plan is to sell the RF-7's and RC-7 and keep the RSW-15 for the HT. I may not need dual 18" IB subs after all.

  17. We're beginning the process of building out an unfinished bonus room over our garage into a home theater / family hangout room. I've developed the attached draft speaker layout to give to our contractor who will handle all the drywall installation and wiring. The proposed speaker layout is based on the dolby setup information available online and all the great HT build threads already on this forum. I have all the speakers in hand already except for the subwoofers (TBD) and the in-ceiling dolby atmos speakers for which i'm planning to use four Klipsch CDT-5650's. I also still need to decide on a projector and screen. Before we cut loose our contractor, i wanted to run this layout by you guys to see if i've screwed up anything or overlooked something that we'll regret in the future. As the project moves forward i'll be sure to post lots of progress and completed project photos. Thank you in advance for your input. Kind regards, Peter

An amazing place but a completely different lifestyle than I am use to, between the lack of daytime for months and temperatures I couldn't handle it. Fairbanks is about 320 miles north of here and I couldn't live there either! It will camp out at 40 below for a few weeks at a time, most winters. We rarely get THAT. It is still different though and certainly not for everyone. Still think Alaska Natives through history have to be the planets toughest people - to live in those winters with no electric power, heating fuel, etc. Yeah I think I'd have mixed a walk south in evey summer...

  20. Here is a pic comparing size to my old Chase 18 in. sub in a 4 1/2 cu ft. box. They are align evenly on the right side. I can put two of these in there, lol. The new box is wider and deeper than the Chase or Dayton boxes. I hooked the new sub into the amp that I was using to drive the stacked 18's. I went to set the level and it was the same. No adjustments necessary. I won't fool around will recalibrating the system until I get the next one done.

  24. Dont watch much, im a flipper, noticed the wife watching one of those reality shows, she was telling me all about the people getting dropped off in the desert for a week or so of endurance. Wife liked how one gril was sucking the water of of cactus, so i ask the wife what she would do? Wife says you know i love the outdoors and id be doing the same thing. Wife ask me what i would do? told her id ask the cameraman for his bottle.

  27. no--lot's of public services here as well. i haven't minded living here until i started thinking about retiring...then i realized how stinkin much i'm paying and there is no way i want to keep paying these prices. Elsewhere you can get twice the house for half the price...gasoline is absolutely ridiculous and some bozo now wants to make it even worse by limiting the amount of fossil fuels that a company can sell. guess what that will do to the price of gas? Like Mark said, everything is taxed or when you don't want to use that bad word, they call it a fee.. 3 bedroom 2 bath 1800 sq ft brick house on a slab with between 1/4 and 1/2 acre in the city for about 130k here (great neighborhood) with $2.25/gal gas. It's not crazy everywhere. EDIT, no state income tax either.

  30. Some story MKP! Glad you made it and that you are not a slow learner Waxing done. Now I want to find some Bon Ami to see how that works on the windshield. I assume you make a paste, apply wit cloth, and hose off? Went to the beach with LF for a couple of hours. Water is warm and better still....no sharks. We've had a summer of sharks all along the NC coast. 8 attacks at last count. Good birdie shot Gary. We have wrens at my house as well. Glad the weather held up for the concert Chuck. Heading out to a concert near the beach around 6. High of 83 so it should be nice.

  33. Sounds like an absolute blast, I'm quite envious. Rain miraculously hit again this morning. Of course it was at 2:30 AM and was accompanied by horrific close proximity lightening. At least we won't have to water today. I laid some more floor tile last night. 8 pieces left till grout woot! I'll get them cut tonight and try to finish them up Saturday. Wall texture is next. I'll be spraying it so there'll be a lot of masking off to do.

  34. Mornin' folks .... moving a bit slow but all is well. Very good concert at Red Rocks last night ....Diana Krall put on a fine show with her own excellent group of musicians who were backed (on some numbers) by the Colorado Symphony. Nature's accoustics in that place are amazing. If you ever get a chance to go, please do it. Highly recommended. MKP ... thank you for sharing that story. Those of us who need wake-up calls tend to get them. The important thing is to heed that call ...and you did. Everyone have an excellent day and cheers!!

  38. Uh not sure if I follow that logic. Tvs are not an investment. You buy em and hope they last five years or more. That's it. Edit: reread your post. I get what your saying. Yeah I'm not gonna run out and buy anything that I can't get warrantied. Not happening they can keep their inventory.

  45. I looked those up. are they the switchable ones from like -10db, -15db, -20db ? If so, they are not what I thought Don was recommending. What you need are in-line passive preamp (volume controls or stepped attenuators). Emotiva makes some inexpensive ones. Here is a much better one. Check out the Goldpoint stuff. http://www.ebay.com/itm/GOLDPOINT-SA4M-DUAL-MONO-PASSIVE-PREAMP-PREAMPLIFIER-/191656546654?hash=item2c9f9ed15e

  46. disrespectful in my opinion. when he responds back and says they are sold tell him you had cash and would have payed double what he was asking had he called you back cause you wanted them so bad. and then when he freaks out and cancels with the other guy you can tell him you dont buy speakers from people like him.
