As Marvin Gaye said, "What's Going On?" Today, not much. Just do some work, go home and repeat the same tomorrow.9 points

That is for the weekend. I'll spend some time at the record show in Shertz and then work on my present turntable project. I seem to always have something going on.8 points

Funny you mentioned the issue with early CD's sounding bad. My daughter has been getting interested in some of my older CD's (Have around 1200). I have multiple copies of some CD's from different time periods. I took an original copy of Social Distortions Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell that I bought when it was released in early 1992 and played a few tracks and then played the same tracks from a "Remastered" disc that I bought a few years ago. I was pretty amazed at how much better the remastered disc sounded.8 points

Not sure how to modify the title of the thread? We could add construction, tile work, and auto repair.....Cables, Cocktails, Coffee, Construction, Auto Repair, and Tile Setting Other title suggestions? We could borrow from Two Men and A Truck. Our title could be "21 Old Geezers And A Sub" How about "Crooked Levels R Us" Let's hear more guys. Cheers Ladies and gents8 points

Dtel that really makes the room look more open. Good job! Did i tell you guys that Monday's and dentist are two of my favorites. As a matter of fact, i usually go to the dentist on Mondays. Luther....if I had your skills I would be trying to out do my last turntable creation! duder....good for you meeting your daughter for coffee Well guys what how do you like the new thread title? Thanks Carl for the edit info. Should the "A" be lower case? How about "Cables, Coffee, and Cocktails" ? Went to LF's house last night. Read the manual and started her generator. The battery was dead so I had to use the pull cord. Ran pretty smooth. We then unboxed 800 CD's she had stored from her move and put them on shelves. My thought is that CDs produced before 24 bit recording sounds pretty bad. I usually try to buy after the year 2000 or remastered disc. Any thoughts on that? Do you have quality CD recordings from the early to mid 90's? Then went in and had one too many martinis and cooked scallops, salmon, chicken, and asparagus on the green egg.7 points

Morning Gang New thread name should draw in a few Lookie-Loo's. 106 projected as yesterday, need to make an ice cream stock run later. Re-adjusting my sleep time as to the hot part of the day. No more MCM work till temps drop to 80s at least. Belgain waffles/eggs coming up, second coffee/duggans.6 points

Mornin' guys. Missed ya yesterday. Beautiful weather and low humidity out this way. Weather guys must be trying to redeem themselves. Interesting new title to the thread along with the comments. Will let others decide. Just want to note that after many years sober, I'd stay out of the loop if the emphasis shifted to 'cocktails'. Have a great day and cheers!6 points

I doubt there will be anymore discussion of booze than before. If you see it going that way please say so. We sure don't want to lose one of our charter members Thanks for the reply Joe. LF has a lot of early disc I noticed when unpacking. Hope most are playable. I asked why so many disc and it turns out her late husband played them on changers in his dental practice. She said he hated Muzak.5 points

Its the source not the disc, I have several redbook pre 2000's that can sound wonderful if played on the right setup (your DAC can make a HUGE difference on SQ) Digital done right requires the same commitment or more you put into a vinyl rig to make it sound pleasing (especially true for any of us old geezers raised on vinyl5 points

One thing about the RF-7ii... everybody's got an opinion about them. They're bright. They're dull. They're awesome. They suck. Perfectly smooth mids. Nonexistent mids. They're only for rock. They're only for opera and orchestra. Mostly music oriented, mostly movie oriented. Weak bass, bloated bass... seems like I've heard it all.5 points

Dtel, that's looking nice. Man, if you and Carl teamed up on a project, what could we have?5 points

No, not the Indiana State Prison, but the REAL Big House in Ann Arbor...Got a great seat on the opponents side, 40 yard line about halfway up, so I can watch Harbaugh run up and down the sideline, and watch the boys run out of the tunnel...Looks like great weather, should be fun. Go Blue!4 points

No shift really, just the same as always as far as I know, you should have no problem. I would completely understand if a cocktail is not good for you it's best to stay clear of them, no problems.4 points

HEY CHUCK! How about re-naming the thread "Coffee, Cables and Cocktails"? You can mix the order up anyway you see fit.4 points

That would certainly be worse. Cocktails arrive AFTER the power tools have been unplugged. Speaking of which, I needed some guides for my bathroom project. I normally screw a straight edge on the wall when I set my first row of tiles to keep them straight and keep them from sliding down the wall. I got out the trusty track saw and ripped five 5 foot pieces faster than you could imagine. They're laser straight. Man, I love that saw. Let me know how you like the tequila. Be sure to get the middle grade (resposado) and let me know how you like it.4 points

LOL. God intended wood and then charcoal, not earth farts. So did you ever read the history of Kentucky Fried Chicken of which the main revolution was the use of a pressure cooker? Their stuff would still be good today if only they used real chicken and learned how to make decent side dishes.3 points

Morning yet again Gang Done with the Dental Maint, simple cleaning and they say we need to address a little "single" tooth problem there in a week or so. I hate perveyors of pain, anybody that comes at me w/needle is on my short list. On the lighter side, Fedx is out for delivery of my Upol coating, Bass bin/Hf single prepped to shoot. If im going to shoot them this week, likely be when the sun goes down, 100+ sunlight just loves to cook Black color. Finishing the pot of Cold Coffee, Dam sure Duggans enhanced. Cave cleaning, working on Max room for the MCMs.3 points

Finally watched MAD CHARLIZE... errr.... I mean MAD MAX. Dayum !! What an audio & visual feast. The LFE was powerful, precise & unrelenting throughout. The Atmos track was excellent, the audio filled & surrounded the room like no other movie I can remember. It felt like I was in the middle of the action from start to finish. Move over Transformers AoE... there's a new Atmos demo disc in town. Wow. I only watched the standard version so far... but going to watch the 3D version tonight.2 points

Not so sure you can place a $$$ amount that would account for a DAC being top flight, Most of that 5g is asthetics2 points

There is no telling, but it would include a subwoofer that would be dangerous. And American Honey. Plus a Martini or just about anything you would recommend, still never tried the Tequila you recommended, but will have a chance in about 2 weeks.2 points
