  2. Tarheel….my wife said "hey" back. I'm drinking my morning blueberry, banana, protein, psyllium husk, flaxseed smoothie….doesn't it sound scrumptious? I'm watching the Sochi F1 race I DVR'ed. Sunny and 80 here today.

  3. Luther and Gary both have impeccable taste and always stage photos so well. A cloudy Sunday. LF off to church. Jake snoozing enjoying the cool air. Speaking of that big boy.....he gave me a scare yesterday. I have been giving him more freedom in the yard without being tethered and yesterday he decides to go exploring. I called and got no response. After two trips around the area by car I got on my bike and finally found him headed back this way acting like just another morning. He was wet up to his shoulders....no telling where he had been. Getting all excited about my colonoscopy Wednesday That's also the best day of weather....70 and sunny and I'll miss it. No plans for the day. Not a football fan but LF is in a pool so I'll have to see what time Atlanta is playing....her pick of the week. LF won a silent auction for a breast cancer benefit yesterday. She bid on a pink bike for her 19 year old niece. I finally asked how much expecting $50-$75 and was floored when she said $275. Well it's for a good cause. Enough about me.....what have you guys been up to? That reminds me of what my late wife (5 years ago this past Friday) use to say. "That's enough talk about you let's talk about me for awhile". Cheers Ladies and Gents. Give your significant other a big hug. And if she is real pretty give her one for me. Tell her Tarheel says "hey".

  5. Beautiful morning. I think I'll give my ride a little TLC with a wash, wax and some detailing. After that, I think a top down ride with my wife is in order. Maybe stop for something sweet. Ya'll have a great day and tell your loved ones that you love them. They can never hear it enough.

  6. A very lazy afternoon. A lot of sitting around listening to tunes and a little watching the Velocity channel on TV. I really should do something constructive but I'm just burnt out from the week. Maybe a drink will help. Yea, I need a drink.

We have our special hugging place at the shop....from my bay to her office there is a step.......she will stand in the office I will be in the bay....we are about the same hight there....and when life throw's a shitt ball at us...we give each other big huggs.....cuz at the end of the day it's just us and that's all that matters....ok let me stop all this mush mush stuff.....cuz she'll be reading this Monday morning..... 9. Evening Gang Haagen-Dazs time and wind down from the day. Halloween month had to change up the Avatar. Slight work day afternoon sunday, it seems our new McM owner is coming to fetch them. We will be hearing a lot more from him im sure, he will have as many questions for us as i did. Off to surf the Bay for parts, engineering yet another cool/kinky electronic convenience project this time around. Mailbox Alarm, the wife or kid are always running out to check on the mail, i thought id engineer a device(s) to just let us know "When" to look.

  14. Mornin' guys. Just getting caught up. Great pics, Gary and great rig, Wardsweb. I'm now officially jealous. Mark, great avitar. Chuck, be careful of what you share on medical tests or these guys will make you the butt of their jokes!! Had fun at 2 yr old Aubrey's B-Day party yesterday. Had it at a nice local park with pavilion and playground. She was far more into the kiddie slide than any present she got. What a kick. Gotta run for now and get some grass cut, then pull some tax crap together. Peace and cheers folks.

  17. "Like" isn't anywhere near adequate for this. Having a "date night" with the PAW tonight as the boy is off on a Scout trip. But I this is just as alluring... We need an "OMG" or something for this level of awesome. Dave

  19. Hey there Wolf, that really cracked us up ! ;0) Enjoy the SET.. Thanks joe and everyone for the photo appreciations.... We have just opened this, which arrived in my mailbox earlier this week.. Listening in 24/96 5.1 DTS MA ... Yes, the digital DB meter is in effect, and we are hitting orchestral peaks to 89 .... Although, we switched out to the 5.1 to 2.0 and got the surprise of our lives when the last orchestral hit 98 and still clean!! Now, we are about 16' back from these little, suspended in air, bookshelves speakers with 4" woofers as you have seen in the previous photos... Music enjoyment continues ;0)

  20. No cold brewing here, and no concentrate either, I look at it like this, I bought aero press so I could brew 1 hot FRESH cup of fresh grounds at a time and so far that is how I have used the press as far as the paper goes I use hot water to wet it down before putting it on the press........................1 of the best features of the press is the ability to experiment and tailor the brew to your personal tastes Plus it forces me to get up off my lazy AZZ (the wife wont use it )

  21. The women that run the place around her have all departed to do whatever the Heck it is they do when I'm not around. Shopping for more shoes or something like that. The bar is open and the joint is rock'n at max volume to two full watts of 45 SET goodness!

  23. Well, I have a wide tolerance for music, coffee, whiskey, beer, people, whatever. Love all of them at their best, like most of them at their worst. When I wake up on a workday at 5AM I am not competent to do much of anything, hence a basic drip pot on timer. So, I figure a good extract would be an easy step up. If I tried inverted Aeropress brew at that time of day I'd probably wind up at Doc in the Box with burns. Dave

  26. Finally got around to giving this a try. Took a LONG time, but hassle free since the popcorn agitator keeps in moving. Not sure if it would ever get to French roast, but this worked out fine at medium roast which was what I wanted for this Costa Rica. Dave

  29. it's not my job. I wish it was I've been looking for K402 profile with no luck. I'll start building a paif with a nive veneer on them as soon as I have the plans. If I have the plan of K402 I'll find the best way to build a wooden version and submit a well-documented topic (like this) about it and hopefully more people can build it.

  31. I have subs and have used them with great success for music in the past and use them for 5.2 sound. My real point was that when placed as their designer intended, my Heresy's are not bass shy and do not "need" a sub for music. This flies in the face of an overwhelming number of Heresy posts that I have seen, most of which seem to be made by folks using the typical speaker placement strategies of today.

  32. Just as long as they don't let Ringo sing... into a live mic. Actually, Ringo sang quite a few songs the other night. He did some Beatles songs, plus some of his new ones, which are not bad. He's a decent singer.

  33. A new place to live... Moved from an 850 square foot 2 bedroom 1 bath with a 1 car garage apartment (half a duplex to be accurate) to a 1700 square foot 3 bedroom 2 bath with a 2 car garage. The best part... My rent is less than half of what I was paying. Still half of a duplex but a step up for sure. Super nice area. VERY quiet in the end of a cul de sac. A nice little fishing pond on the property were I so inclined. No interior shots yet because it's pretty much a shambles after 2 days of moving but here's the back yard with the pond:

  34. But you don't live in a country where everything is criminal and thus you have to worry about criminals having more guns than law abiding country. You also don't live in a country where if you require things like gun registration, or limit handguns to the home, a tryant will suddenly emerge. As you have seen so reasonably and effectively argued in this thread, the only reason we have lasted this long is because the government is scared of all of the gun owners. It keeps em in line, closest tyrants stay closeted.

  35. Damn sure does, Joe. My concern with the paper filters is their trapping oil. The stainless I have did fine...there was just a bit of VERY fine sludge in the bottom, but remember I used a blade grinder to pulverize the coffee so that is neither surprising nor was it a problem. As I used a tea boiler, I brought it to a boil and let it sit for a minute or so. Didn't check the water temp but suspect it was about where you suggest. I'll be experimenting. Have you made concentrate? I want to try it. I made cold water for a while and it's long keeping qualities and convenience were great...but the taste just wasn't the same as hot brewing. This sounds like a good compromise. Dave

  36. Dave check out youtube for some recipes on the aeropress, I use the inverted brew method as well with mine 18ish grams of medium gring decaf french roast, 250 grams of water at 190ish degrees (add a few ounces to wet the grounds and stir, then add remaining water) allow to set 2 minutes Ish then 20 second press (I use the paper filters as there were some complaints about the stainless disc either clogging or allowing grounds past Makes for a really good strong cup o joe

  44. Bingo. It's called a "read drive unit" which is married to the motor and it's unique to them. It's our noise maker. They can pull it out and if no gear teeth are damage, etc they could reseal it and we could be good to go. (That's a $2,600 exploration). If there were damage to any of the gearing, the whole thing (engine and all) has to go back to Volvo. Our particular year, our particular model (they quit using these specific v6 engines go figure) is cost $9,500 (because it's a package deal) and $1,800 for 20 hrs labor to pull/reinstall. The tech at Volvo sounded pretty squared away. He said he and the other guy who's been around the longest said their gut says it sounds noisy enough that they're pessismistic that they would be able to repair it. (Our personal mechanic echoed concern with that option). So we believe we are car shopping. Deep breath. Lesson learned. We certainly weren't expecting this. I'd deal with 1000 of these vs one doc visit saying s family member is sick.

What's really unreliable are the weather forecasts! Best part of today will be our granddaughter's 2d birthday ... will have a nice family party at the park. Temps are warm and the sun is shining. Enjoy your weekend. Cheers.

Good late Sunday rainy windy Morning folks, Still Rainy here, and now they say through tomorrow, that's rain everyday for about 10 days now Had a tree fall across the drive that needed removal, had a dead 50' pine standing that we decided best to drop while the saw was there, Cut the wedge and just as the wedge got loose the damn tree cracked and pinched the saw and wedge couple wacks with an old double head Ax and the job was complete......Can sleep now without worrying when / if that dead 50 footer pine will land on the car
