  1. Thanks for the help with the window repair. The guy that framed my house 27 years ago is working on my street and I got him to drop by to look at the windows. He can replace parts of the sill and do a couple of other small jobs. Good day for a bike ride. Cheers Ladies and Gents

  2. Those are not subwoofers... They are Klipsch Belles from the Heritage line. If someone gave them to you, then you're a rather lucky person. They are full range loudspeakers... fully horn loaded. There is a 15" driver in the bottom (within the V) and a horn loaded midrange and tweeter in the top. Unfortunately the Klipsch website is being "updated" and the prior links to the discontinued models and their specifications, including the Belle, are not currently available. Here is the only link I can find for them right now... http://www.klipsch.com/products/belle-klipsch-floorstanding-speaker I'd recommend holding on to them if at all possible.

  3. Good morning all. Been a while since I've checked in.. Been super busy with the "De-Clutter". Moving from 3700 sqft to 1500 sqft puts A LOT into perspective. Almost to a point where we feel like we aren't tripping over each other and "STUFF". Wife got her Winter Garden in and a temporary chicken coop....got our first half dozen eggs yesterday....will be converting an old work shed into a larger coop this weekend. So far I've replaced about 80% of the plumbing.....fix one thing and then another pops up...think I've just about stopped the bleeding for now. With the move I donated my beloved Sony 55" LCD and Yamaha YSP-5100 Sound Projector to my parents....they've been wanting a flat screen for years and I figured it was best to give it to them rather than get a few hundred for it....they promptly rewarded me with their Klipsch Quintet Micro Theater setup that has been used maybe twice since 2001 along with the KSW-15 that I gave them around the same time. I may use that instead of my Reference stuff....it seems to be too much for the small space and takes up valuable space. I'll get pictures up soon....wife is almost comfortable enough to allow people to come over for a bon fire and oysters

  6. I received and hooked up my Yamaha A-S501 today. It replaced a Denon DRA697ci. The sound quality of the Yamaha is so much better than the Denon. I don't know if it is a fluke, but the Denon was like listening through a closed window. The sound difference blew me away. I really thought that you couldn't go wrong with Denon, but that DRA 697 sucks. It is lifeless on the high and lows; and congested in the mid range. I couldn't stand to listen to my new RP280's until today. I would like to thank Willland for recommending the Yamaha.

  7. Several years ago we went to harbor freight (cheap tool store) for shop stuff. We bought cheap headlights, gave them to the grandkids for Christmas. Later that night we strapped them to their heads and turned all the lights out. Absolutely hysterical. All we saw were erratic light beams and all we heard was laughter and screaming. Best $5 we ever spent. Lol

  8. Just to add... The Belles have been discontinued and are no longer made. So they are relatively rare and harder to find. If you haven't had a chance to listen to them yet, by all means, do that before you make a decision about whether to keep them. Even if they're from the 80's (can be determined using the serial number) the drivers should still be in rather good working order as long as they haven't been abused. And the only thing they might need would be to freshen up the crossovers. If you can provide the serial numbers (from the tag on the back), the veneer type and some better closeup pictures, then I'm sure some of the forum members could help provide an estimated value for reference.

I have little control how people ship to me, but i have learned, FedEx or USPS is the only way to go. Someone at the UPS Dept of Greed refused to hire-up for the season Appears to be wide spread? 14. Good early Tuesday morning gang Xmas shopping out of town for the farm lifestyle. Not many can say they filled most of their shopping list @ Tractor Supply. It is their fav store, everything from ammo to clothes, so gift cards were in order. These cards state "Tractor Supply" but have a Visa logo on the face, asking about this they told me they could use them anywhere that takes Visa, interesting, and good. This year ill dam sure ask them if they used them, hate to see them wasted. Iv got to be the only guy who asks the wife, or kind of tells her how many cards i want to buy. Couple of the farmers kids that have decide to stay with the farm im bought for also. On that note, the wife said sure, get it done, and by the way do i finely get my "Last new car" this next year? Trash day Taco day And iv noticed UPS really is slowing down, local news says they cut their workforce for greed. Iv got packages six days shipped now and still in another state.

  16. ah...well i’m a bit slow...ketchup makes perfect sense. I guess red and Portuguese makes sense too...i remember after my folks were killed and i got shipped off to some non-portuguese relatives. sat down for dinner and a bowl of brown stuff was given to me. i was freaked and asked what it was. Beef Stew they said. “but, it’s not red.” They said they’d never heard of red stew. If you put tomato sauce in it, it will turn red. the ketchup did the trick just as good. in my formative years, food was red.

  17. Thanks for reminding me We will all be dust one day, I would think yours will have slight red color to it. you calling me a commie? the half of me that ain’t American is Portuguese. No, because of ketchup......duh Well unless your 1/2 Indian what is the other half, they say I'm French/German , but i would think with other things mixed in?

  25. The Hateful Eight: Theater Showtimes & Ticket Purchasing - The Official Showtimes Destination Complete roadshow theater list for The Hateful Eight... on Dec25th it's slightly sketchy still... AMC town square isn't releasing any tickets and when you call the theater they dont know what you are talking about, but at least we get a showing! Some other states are already selling tickets. Quentin Tarantino has stated very plainly that he is only going to make 10 movies in his career before moving on to Theater... this is movie number 8 (one more kill bill movie), better enjoy it while you can. In case you hadn't heard before... The Hateful Eight Roadshow is a two week screening on the movie in 70mm film, the format in which it was shot (65mm). after that, starting January 8, the movie will be widely released in digital projection as part of it's normal release. the roadshow will feature an Ennio Morriconne Overture, extra 4 minutes of footage and an intermission... just like the old 70mm releases.

  26. I've been going back and forth with the two and it seems to my ears the Stanton is slightly richer in sound than the Pickering. Both have the top of the line JICO stylus for those models with the Stanton having the shibata stylus. I may see if I can get an original stylus for each, but have been told by many that the JICO outperforms the originals. I spoke to another person who says he gets the originals and then sends them overseas to get a line tip done on them and they sound great.

  29. Those subwoofers you have there aren't worth a damn, as they only respond down to about 54 hertz. Many sub woofers today can reach down to 15 hertz no problem. Seriously now, those are very nice, "heritage line", discontinued, 3 way, full range, loud speakers. Highly sought after within the Klipsch community.

  30. Thanks for the suggestion, I was playing with this a bit earlier this afternoon actually. It does tame it down some, but seems to be at the expense of imaging and soundstage a bit at least in my room. Still playing with it though.

  31. Which one did you start out with that was that price? I have looked at a few el34 and el84 based amps in the 8-12 watt range which is probably more like 4 watts before clipping at 8ohms and they are running about 500 shipped. AIQIN Audio (DOUK AUDIO) on Ebay, they have their amps there as DIY or built, you just have to look real good to find one. After I purchased it, I bought different tubes to try (NOS) and although highly debatable on SQ, some NOS are more durable than some of the newer ones. Up until last week I was going to sell mine to "upgrade", but a member on here is rewiring it and adding in better caps and resistors. So I am most likely going to keep it for a long time now. If I feel like adding in more components, I just add in an audio switch and push a button for what I want. I also purchased an integrated tube amp (Yaqin MC-10L) that I use for times when I really want it loud, used on Ebay for $350.00 shipped (used). They get good reviews and Derrick above has a similar one and can comment on his as well. It has 4 inputs for my turntables, digital (cd, external hard drive on computer), and cassette when I feel like adding it in. With the integrated amp I just add on a phono pre (2-Cambridge Audio 551-P, and a Yaqin MS-23B Tube phono pre) for my turntables as it doesn't have a designated phono out. Once I got the bug for tube amps, it wasn't complete until I got a vintage amp. I have a Sansui AU-70 Integrated that is going to be restored as well.It has the designated phono pre out. Once the Sansui is done I may consider selling the Yaqin as I will not have the room for it anymore. But the CLASS A SET is going to be used for all my critical listening. The depth and width of the sound stage and 3D effect it gives off is something that has to be heard in order to appreciate it. If you can find someone local to you to preview one I'd recommend it. Some on here may even open their doors for you if you post. There is a member and post on here with someone who is using the KF-28's with a tube amp and is in listening bliss. Maynard may be able to help with who the member is, or search it in the tubes section. I can also affirm how nice they sound with tubes. They really open up nicely. Good info thanks much. I have the MS23b and I think its the best bang for the buck tube phono stage out there. I rolled in some JJ ecc83s balanced and matched and I couldn't be happier with it. Looks like its time to start saving up some cash, I see a tube amp in the near future Right on with the kit. I think that will be the most cost effective way to get into the game. As far as assembly, I am a DIY kind of guy and have an electronics background so that's no issue at all. When you get yours back I would be interested in the mods made to it and how it improved the sound for you.

  34. Witness: Striker was the squadron leader. He brought us in real low. But he couldn't handle it. Prosecutor: Buddy couldn't handle it? Was Buddy one of your crew? Witness: Right. Buddy was the bombardier. But it was Striker who couldn't handle it, and he went to pieces. Prosecutor: *Andy* went to pieces? Witness: No. Andy was the navigator. He was all right. Buddy went to pieces. It was awful how he came unglued. Prosecutor: *Howie* came unglued? Witness: Oh, no. Howie was a rock, the best tailgunner in the outfit. Buddy came unglued. Prosecutor: And he bailed out? Witness: No. Andy hung tough. Buddy bailed out. How he survived, it was a miracle. Prosecutor: Then Howie survived? Witness: No, 'fraid not. We lost Howie the next day.

  43. When I purchased my Heresy III's a short time ago, I refreshed my memory on the tenants of PWK regarding the placement of his speaker designs for proper stereo reproduction and maximum performance. Although unable to have corner placement, I spaced them wide apart, on the floor, against the wall and at a 45 degree toe in. Long story short: bass to 40hz, using the Pure Audio setting on the AVR, no subwoofers or Audyssey involved, the sound on music is just great. I have owned all of the Heritage series speakers off and on over the past 35 years or so. IMO, if you cannot place Heritage speakers as above, or in corners, as PWK recommended, you are seriously compromising their performance. Anybody that finds Heresy's bass shy needs to start from scratch on their placement. If corner placement makes them too bass heavy, do the un-audiophile thing and use your bass control to turn it down a notch or two. I had Heresy II's and got rid of them after doing all of the audiophile approved tricks that I now know were wrong. So happy to be back on the right track with these Heresy III's.
