  1. Morning everyone! Went to the outlaws for Easter, ate, then went back to sleep and slept most of the day. I had been up for about 30 hours and could not fall asleep, so I popped a couple of Benadryl and Tylenols and it was lights out. I gotta go get back down now in case they call me in to work today.... Hope everybody has a nice Monday.... Rog

  3. Almost exactly one year ago, the last week of March 2015, I acquired my first pair of Klipsch speakers, 1979 Heresy 1 H-BR. These little gems improved my listening experience so much that they led me to purchase my second pair of Klipsch speakers three months later, 1994 Chorus 2 with Crites crossovers, Crites Titanium tweeter diaphragms, Crites Phenolic Midrange diaphragms and newly reconed woofers. Both pairs became the core of my Home Theatre system and are used many hours daily for TV, movies and music, usually together in an A/B configuration for stereo music listening. In November 2015 I got a pair of KLF20's, bone stock, no loose baffles. These are set up in the Master Bedroom and are used for 2 channel stereo listening. I have Titanium tweeter diaphragms that will be installed in the next few days and will post my thoughts after I've listened to them a bit. Because I listen to these wonderful speakers so much, it has become difficult to listen to lesser quality systems. It's like a whole bunch of the music is just missing and it takes quite a while to get used to. I'm now accustomed to hearing the details, a drum stick hitting the bell of a ride cymbal, the nuances of a vocalist, slight string noises of the guitar and fingers plucking notes on a bass guitar. Without these details, the music is basically background noise, which leaves me looking forward to getting home to MY system. It's not so bad if I'm at someone's home with a decent rig, but that doesn't happen often. Many thanks to all of YOU, for sharing your time, knowledge and experience with new guys like me. I've learned a ton about Klipsch and fine audio in general. I don't get to visit here as much as I'd like, but whenever I do, I learn something new and have never been treated badly, which speaks volumes about the quality of the folks in this community. Thanks again and rock on!

  4. Sleep. I used to sleep 8 hrs a night automatic. Now I can only sleep anywhere from 4 to 7 a night. Weird, I think it's age related.

  5. Wow….52 hours straight, that sounds dangerous. I have a physical job and I usually sleep like a baby. Sometimes when I'm busy doing mental non physical work like taxes on the computer, billing, designing or figuring a job, I don't sleep as well after these activities. I'll go for a walk, play basketball, or anything that will physically wear me out and I sleep much better. I don't like sleeping pills, they make me feel sluggish the next day.

  6. Back in my 20's, I used to work in a freezer at a Grocery Distribution Warehouse. I set a record at working 52 hours straight without going home during an inventory and they asked me to work an additional 12 hours, but I was getting tunnel vision and could only concentrate on the task at hand and not keep track of the workers on the floor around me so I went home as I was driving a straddle. I don't remember any more, but even with pills it took me a long time to get to sleep. It is hard for me to stay awake after 18 to 26 hours, after that, it doesn't matter much. Rog

  9. For about the first 24 hours, I was doing case counts on pallets, had to work in pairs and crawl up in the racks and count the physical cases. After that, I was driving straddle, a stand up fork lift that goes 6 bays high and has two legs that straddle either side of the pallet. you have to get off and throw cases to the side of the hole, pull out the old pallet, find out where a full pallet of product is with the telezon, and fill the hole. I was still getting over 100 pallets an hour at 52 hours which is better than a lot of guys get on their regular shift, but because of tunnel vision and not being able to take in what was going on around me, I almost ran into a guy and almost ran into a fork lift as well the last 8 hours? 15. Happy Easter to All. Just getting up and around, hey its only 9am out here. Coffee brewing, first cup down. Going to barbeque/grill a couple whole chickens later, maybe throw on a couple steaks near the end. It'll be just me and the better half today(I think) so plenty of leftovers, yum. Without getting too religious for the forum, God Bless you all this Resurrection Sunday.

  20. Enjoying some "Clubhouse American Cream Ale from the local Griffin Claw Brewing Company. I couldn't resist the cans. The brew is a little to "Bud-like" for my tastes (I prefer something that can't be mistaken for a urine specimen), but it's perfect for getting in the mood for Opening Day, Friday April 8. My nephews and niece are treating us to Opening Day tickets as a thank you for help with my late sister's estate. I've never been to Opening Day. The tickets are in section 132 behind the Tigers' dugout. Now, if we can just have weather like yesterday, sunny and 60'ish, it'll be great. We'll have a good time no matter what the weather. Go Tigers! Isn't it amazing how that beer stays in the glass when tipped on it's side like that?

  21. check all the driver/horn mounting screws. They are just wood screws, there are usually just 4 on the woofer and they can loosen in time. Give em all a good tweak with a #3 phillips head (BIG), and consider drilling/driving another 4 for the woofer. Place ring of tape around drill bit as depth gauge. #10x 3/4 round head wood screws are what is used. Occasionally some of the wood cleats may vibrate loose, sometimes one is found where there is a slight rub between end grain, side of the cleats, but Klipsch cut them short a it on purpose to reduce the chance of this. Every time I've worked on any Heritage, I've put a new gasket in the mid driver, and added Parts Express type closed cell foam seal before shutting the cabinet up. That is another opportunity for air leak/rattle, if some of the rear hatch screw holes have enlarged with age. Cure for that is a round toothpick or two dipped in wood glue, secured in hole, let dry, trim off excess and reinsert screw.

  23. The RSW-15 probably sounded great with the Chorus, its a good subwoofer. Pair it up with La Scala's, not so much. The weakness becomes apparent without much difficulty. If sealing up the sub does not work out for you in a positive manner just break down and get the proper tool for the job.

  24. I get within 30 yards of them so often that it's not much of a challenge, they just walk around my yard, come up my driveway, tool around in my field, etc. A couple years ago I took two with a bow, and wasn't using a blind, just stalked them through tall grass. I'd rather just look at them to be honest. There's a big tom that has been gobbling his head off at night all week, he about screwed up Saturday night, some coyotes got after him. Going to try to get some good pictures with a zoom lens soon.

  25. I don't know either, "Grizz". Very good point and definitely need to take this into consideration before any modifications are done. One thing to note is I don't operate the sub anywhere near its full output. It simply provides a little "umph" to the Scala's at moderate listening levels. When I design boxes, I always look at sealed vs ported. I notice that the sealed designs with the same driver have a much higher power threshold than ported especially with overexcursion on frequencies below the tune. The amp probably has a HPF to protect overexcursion. Sealed, that circuit is pretty much meaningless since your sub will not only not need it, but sealed the driver will be able to handle more power. Sealed, you will lose low frequency. I will guess you will raise the lower number from 19Hz to 30Hz. I am guessing......

  26. Without knowing the specs, the diver is fairly decent and most likely will not lead to damage if the box is closed up. The power requirements will go up to achieve the same spl and Xmax will have to also go up. If being to close to the wall is the problem, it will not change. 2-3 ft. away from the wall is ideal.

  31. Here you can see the parts laid out on my table, and this is everything for an M2. First step is to create the power supply. The First Watt M2 requires 50V DC to run the audio boards. In order to take 120V AC and turn it into DC you need the big toroidal Transformer and the bridge rectifiers from there it feed the Power Supply board which takes the DC and stores some and smooths out the DC signal. Here you can see the Power Supply boards are complete and mounted in the case. You can also see the black and red twisted wires in the block, thats where the switch ties in. The wires in my hand get plugged into the switch on the case. This is a photo of the PS complete. At this point I plugged it in and had 51.6V. I used a light bulb wired into the plug circuit to act as a circuit breaker to prevent a melt down if I had a direct short. The light turns on if there is a direct short rather than spark and short.

  43. It’s 12:33 am and it’s been a long day; but, a fun one. My brother and I spent the afternoon messing around Hollywood, then the evening at the Hollywood Bowl watching David Gilmour. The show was fantastic. Oh, and the marijuana was free...everyone in the place got a “contact” high--and we’re outdoors mind you. Can’t recall the last time i saw so many people toking ... including the old man sitting next to me. I think he was there with his son because there was a physical resemblance. The son was firing up numerous times and I was thinking “well, i guess the Dad doesn’t care and the Dad must be driving.” Then i notice the pipe getting passed to old guy and he starts hitting it. By the way, have i mentioned how much i hate the Hollywood Bowl? Iconic venue and all that; but, the most inconvenient venue that i’ve ever been to. About 500 yards of walking with very tiny baby steps, people all around you, bumping into you like a pinball machine...and the parking lot is stacked parking--that was ok this time because i went and parked the car four hours before the show, so my car was the first one in front of the exit. If any of you watch the Jimmy Kimmel show, you saw the back of me walk by on tonight’s show. They had a camera crew on Hollywood Blvd talking to people as i walked by. Was tempted to photo bomb; but, didn’t. I was too hungry to goof around. Lastly, Mr. Gilmour kindly did my two favorites...Shine on You Crazy Diamond and Coming Back to Life. I was never a big fan of the song Run Like Hell from The Wall; but, that song really lends itself to a live performance. The concert was complete with lasers and a fireworks show. David Crosby was there and sang three songs--he butchered Comfortably Numb though.
