  1. While I drink more coffee than hot tea these days, my late wife would make a teapot full pretty often. This popped up in a FB post... โ€œIn Ireland, you go to someone's house, and she asks you if you want a cup of tea. You say no, thank you, you're really just fine. She asks if you're sure. You say of course you're sure, really, you don't need a thing. Except they pronounce it ting. You don't need a ting. Well, she says then, I was going to get myself some anyway, so it would be no trouble. Ah, you say, well, if you were going to get yourself some, I wouldn't mind a spot of tea, at that, so long as it's no trouble and I can give you a hand in the kitchen. Then you go through the whole thing all over again until you both end up in the kitchen drinking tea and chatting. In America, someone asks you if you want a cup of tea, you say no, and then you don't get any damned tea. I liked the Irish way better.โ€ โ€• C.E. Murphy, Urban Shaman

  3. There is a difference in the sound of vintage gear compared to modern tube gear. The old gear is a softer and warmer style amp compared to a more detailed modern amp. Old and new McIntosh 275 amps don't sound the same.

  5. I definitely enjoy my Dynakit ST-70 that's using a pair of older 7199's plus a matched quad of JJ KT77's, which is what Kevin from Dynakit likes and had recommended. I have no complaints with it and it sounds spectacular running my quite upgraded/modified Speakerlab SK's. It also sounds great on the Klipsch Epic CF-3 v1's. I'm sure there are some things that could be changed on it that might eek out a little more from it but not sure I'd really hear them. But I'm definitely glad I decided to keep it. I wish it wouldn't have made the picture so big...

  6. So wouldn't a more fairer comparison be to compare to a restored vintage MC275?

  7. The link isn't working for me now, either. It worked when I put it up. I'm checking with the seller, but it looks like he either sold them or took down the ad. Just messaged him. He had set them up so he could demo them if someone was interested, but after listening for a while he decided he wanted to keep them...LOL

  8. This album has a few things to say. Money well spent. I should get it on vinyl.. hmm. For you Married guys. I'm gonna do you a favor. Call the wife into the room for a dance. Stand at first position and wait to press play. If you listen to it first. You will ruin your own surprise. Here's to wishing you the best! ...and you are welcome.๐Ÿซ

  12. What about the Yamaha R-N1000A network machine (called a receiver but actually it functions as an integrated) ? List is $1799 but deals are out there in the $1500 range.

  13. Klipsch has a Heritage dealer locator that lists what speakers they have set up. When I typed in Peoria, the closest place that came up that has LaScalas is Sundown One in Springfield. Klipsch Authorized Audio Speaker Dealer Locator | Klipsch

  14. on the input: Red (#2) to + from your receiver/amp and black (#1) to - from your receiver/amp. Right or left channel depending on which speaker is connected to the xover network in question. Both xovers should be identical.

  16. I finally bought a new pair of B stock Heresy IV's on eBay from a US company. I'm using BuyandShip (based on eurozero experience) to deliver from a warehouse in the US to HK. And expect to receive them in about 1 week. Unfortunately BuyandShip has made this process unnecessarily complicated compared to ReShip. Live and learn..

  17. PWK put the issue of intermodulation distortion in writing to me back in the early 70s as I was preparing to buy Klipschorns. Attached are two of his letters.Klipschletter1.pdfKlipschletter2.pdf I have a third letter with advise on maintaining the oiled finish on the speakers.

  18. Might I suggest a Marantz 2285b. Although it does not have Wi-fi itโ€™s easy to add to the receiver. I have mine connected to my Fluance Rt85 and running to my Klipsch Forte II speakers. Sound absolutely amazing and the room size is similar to yours.

  20. You might check with Hawkeye Audio in Iowa City, IA. As far as I know, they are the only Klipsch Heritage dealer in Iowa.

  22. This just played while I was typing the above video details. Wow! The track has words. "I can loose myself. You I can't live without." Powerful stuff Back when he could scream out and make the words wrench tones and tension.

  23. Sounds like a failing amp unfortunately. I would highly suggest a pair of passive speakers for your next ones, powered by a receiver. Speakers themselves rarely fail unless highly abused. That way if your receiver were to fail you can keep your speakers and just replace the receiver.

  27. It's not like Klipsch is still making the MTM. Some have bought the MCM1900 that didn't come with the MTM, so it should be a non-issue to point them in a direction that makes them happy, builds trust, and they might stay. It's not a matter of promoting other party's offerings: It's just conversations without acting like options don't exist. The game that gets played upsets people and they, rightfully so, feel tricked, rather than feeling they were treated like adults. The game is causing a Streisand effect and is driving people to the competition. The huge departure of valued members should be an indication that the new rules have killed the forum. The low turnout for Mr. Klipsch's birthday bash is proof that it is hurting all the way around. One or two say that they are done, but they come right back. Some say they are leaving and that's what they do. Most left without saying so and the exodus since 2020 should have been avoided. The new Heritage sounds a lot better than earlier offerings. Some existing owners will buy new, while most can't afford 10, 20, or $30,000 speakers, so a small number will try to improve the sound of what they own. Since the Heritage line is less than 5% of new Klipsch sales and none of the new ones need to be refreshed or upgraded it should have never been any worry. I am sure GM would not cut relations with someone who wants to install Brembo brake pads on their Vette, rather than AC Delco. It would be a disaster for GM to condemn them. Caps and diaphragms have to be a microscopic fraction of a percent of sales and are not worth what they have cost. It's like wasting dollars to save pennies. Just my 2 cents.

  29. I have used avr, class A, AB, digital and tube amps. I have never had a problem paring them with any speaker. I am not a believer of reputable manufacturers making amps, avr or tube amps for specific speakers. Speaker sensitivity and ohm load may be more important when selecting an amp, or avr. If the amp or avr has enough power, it should work.

  32. Dear Roc, I purchased the Fortes used in Iowa. They came with the dents in the passive radiators, from a really nice guy who had children. I'm sure they were the source of the dents. They appeared to be a normal kids with normal parents, accidents happen, and life goes on. As I grow older, and hopefully wiser, I find that the most important things in life are the loved ones that surround us. I would trade my 4 Fortes,Vandersteen 3A signatures, and all my beloved childhood comic books, to spend one day with my departed grandfather. I love music and movies, and enjoying them with my kids is something that I cherish. The speakers are a means for me to bring that magical moment together, but without the kids and my loving wife, I'd be sitting all alone in a room. So if the kids get curious as to how one of dads toys works, and damages something, big deal. I can always fix it ( I hope), but if I keep them away from my pride and joy, they may never want to know why they sound better than most other speakers. They may grow up thinking that the IPOD and MP3 player are the only ways to listen to music. That is a scary thought ! I think most members here feel the same way, I'm sure you do to. How many innovators in this industry tore up speakers and amps to figure out how they worked. Some how I think Paul W Klipsch would have loved to see kids crawling all over one of his Klipschorns, looking at the next generation of Klipsch lovers. I'm getting off the soap box now. Thanks again to all the members for their insightful comments and the good feedback. That's what makes this a great forum, the members here. Sincerely, Vandyman
