Just recently acquired a turntable - after a very long time without one. Decided on an Audio-technica AT-LP5X Based on reviews, classed as a "best under $500" Direct drive, manual. Looking to add an ATVM95ML Any experience with this cartridge?4 points

To all interested buyers: Have no fear buying these speakers. They are indeed the real deal, near mint, matched pair. They have been re-capped with the correct factory authorized Klipsch capacitors and the original phenolic tweeter diaphragms are included in the sale. seabreeze is my brother and I was present at The Listening Post in Pittsburgh when he purchased them new in 1986. Give 'em a listen before buying if you can. If not inspect for obvious damage and price accordingly. Don't worry about replacing anything that's not obviously bad. Leaking capacitors and damaged drivers if present should be accounted for in price. If that all works I would take them home set up and play some music. If there aren't any issues I'd listen for awhile before spending money. See what you like and don't care for before spending money so that when you do spend money it will be well spent. Good luck.2 points

We had a golden retriever who didn't want to sleep inside when he was little, so he ended up being mostly an outdoor dog. He was on a pretty long cable run and had one of those igloo style dog houses. One evening after it was dark I went out to love on him and put more water out. Right as I turned back to the house a Barred Owl was gliding right over me . He had a good 4.5 ft wingspan, and nary a sound as he went past. To say the least, it startled me. We rarely saw them, but heard them often in the summer.2 points

I know this is a bit of a large net to cast but I'm looking at a pair of La Scalas. I don't have the serial numbers yet but they were supposedly owned but the original owner for 50+ years. I'm assuming they might need some TLC (caps / crossovers / etc) but I was curious if there was anything that I should check / look out for? Any known issues to watch out for or avoid? Thank you in advance for your time and assistance. I'll edit the post as I get more info.1 point

Working system. Adcom GTP-350 (pre-amp and tuner) and Adcom GFA-545 II (2-channel amp). Puts out 100WPC into 8 ohms. If you know Adcom you know how legendary this amp is. Willing to meet in a public place within 50 miles of Meridian, MS. Priced for quick sell. Too much gear forces sale. If listed it is available. No shipping. Price is $300.1 point

Well I did a thang the other day. I've thought about streamin since I've got Amazon Prime but never tried it. Soooo, a couple years ago when I was putting together this rig. I made a phone call to one of the best boardmen in the business only to get laffed at again. I asked about a Schiit Mani phono stage and was told he knew both guys and they made some good schiit. 125$ and it's done exactly what it should do. It pukes it's a Puffffffin next time. Wasn't calling him again for more abuse (lol) so ordered a Schiit Modi+ DAC to see if it would work. Here in 3 days from TX and plugged it up this morning. That was after a short search for that 25' patch cord I had layin here for sumpin. Don't ask cause I dunno. lol Well, I do but nm. lol Long story short this thing sounds crazy good running thru the PrimaLuna and into the LS w/o the JBL SP128S fired up. NOW I can get off my rear, have tunes cookin and get some work done around here instead of worrying about flippin lp's all the time. I'm sure the 2k DAC's have their advantages but this hits the spot for me. I'll NEVER stop spinnin cause I know the difference but it does scratch that itch. Well worth the $150 imo. So much for being pathetically worthless. "Git 'er done!" @Marvel @JohnJ @Tarheel and the rest who might wonder about a quick fix. It really IS some good Schiit.1 point

I have never used that one. I'm using the Ortofon 2m blue and am very happy with it.1 point

@Marvel Naturally she's sold out in Cbus next week. Might take a rund down depending on the weather and find a tour case to park on if the planets are aligned. No way am I doing a GA event. Back in the day I'd have 4 tickets fo sure. Gotta share the love. Like 32$ originally and now the scalpers have jacked resale tickets to up around 100-150 per for a GA ticket??? Sad back in the day but now? Blah!1 point

Welllll, their Mani does a nice job for the price. The Modi+ is just another toy so we'll see how it goes. I could go w/a Puffin or a more expensive dac but I won't use the dac too much. The Puffin is down the road. I'll let ya all know.1 point

Yeah I did enough digging to figure out that’s an option. Ordering replacement kits from Crites. Not positive if these fit the square back tweeters though (https://critesspeakers.com/products/k77-diaphragm-kit) I think so? We’ll see, I emailed them to find out.1 point

Blocking the shop door. My wife stopped on our drive part way up, walked to our front door and told me to look out back at the shop driveway.. (wanted me to get a pic or two)He was pretty accustomed to us around here as he ate everything in sight anyway.. Pig. He let me get very close for pics of him. A couple of summers ago. We have a lot of critters around here. He knew the season was not in session yet ☺️1 point

Four-channel? If you are considering waiting for the new La Scala version, you'll need a 6-channel amp (or two 3-channel or three 2-channel or six monoblocks... 😁). I've already purchased two additional stereo amps in anticipation of the upgrade kit. Got a good deal on two more demo units of the stereo amp I'm currently using with my AL5s.1 point

@Mikekid Some nice shots there. Lightning is great stuff to shoot. Was North in Michigan one summer and caught an amazing electrical storm. So my buddy and I broke out the tripods and went to work. Craziest thing I ever saw. It was like the lightning coming up from the ground going into the clouds. Not down from the clouds. I'm STILL stumped on that one. Ruled out cloud cover so dunno what or how but I'm still stumped 40 years later. lol1 point

-why not say off the bat that he did not like the speaker ? but to add test after test to show a very competitive speaker , then to bash it as non HIFI speaker , geeeez , we all know the Heresy is not a Studio monitor , but it sure sounds great to a lot of people , and 4 generations of selling like hotcakes is hard to beat in any brand -1 point
