  1. If you can't do the KLF-10 then stick with the KLF-C7 for timbre matching.
  2. My vote is for Cornwalls, bigger is always better. There is no replacement for displacement. Cornwalls + sub > Heresy's + sub any day all day.
  3. The original Cornwall will have the larger K-600 horn which to me is a certain advantage over the Cornwall III's use of the smaller Heresy K-701 horn lens. I would take the original Cornwalls easily over the III's for that reason. I would replace the capacitors with some high quality film and foils or paper in oils and be very happy.
  4. Looks like a forum member bought them as he is asking questions in the general section. Really nice condition for their age.
  5. Those are from the late 50's most likely do they have the K-77 tweeter mounted to the front of the midhorn lens or the older University tweeter. Nice score! Those old coils in the network are most likely hand wound.
  6. An original Forte' would be a better choice since the II uses a Tractix midhorn but it certainly would be better than a reference series speaker or a KLF-C7.
  7. Don't trust a computer algorithm to adjust your system use your ears! Use the pink noise generator and listen as you move speaker to speaker. You can use it to maybe get a baseline then tweak and adjust from there. Speakers with smaller drivers will obviously need a higher crossover point. Keep in mind the crossover slopes are 12db and the roll off will not be instantaneous so even at 80Hz expect frequencies down to 68Hz.
  8. Why in the world would you recommend two non-timbre' matched center speakers when the Academy is truly the correct speaker he needs! Both of those while great centers are designed for a totally different speaker line. You guys must be totally tone deaf if you can't hear the difference in timbre.'

We make the gatling gun and ammo handling system for that beast.
  10. I prefer analog as compared to the digital output in my high end Toshiba SD-9200 as it sounds stale and lifeless. That and I can run the analog outputs through my BBE 1002 and DBX 3BX-DS 3-Band Dynamic Range Controller with Impact Restoration so I can tailor the sound to my liking.
  11. All speakers need a subwoofer to cover the lowest octaves.
  12. I believe those networks are not designed for the Belle, La Scala or Klipschorn those are for the Cornscala's. You will need to do some modifications to be able to use those. I thought I had a schematic for the ALK Universal network but cannot seem to locate it but I know it has been posted on this forum. Here is a photo of Al's Universal that IS designed for the big three Heritage models.
  13. Turns out the trim does have anodizing and it was a quite the job to sand through it I did the front eight pieces on one speaker and it took a ton of sanding. Looks great but it is alot of work. Worked my way through the grits, 80, 120, 240, 320, 400, 800. I was going to polish with Simichrome but decided that it looking good enough. I am going to need alot more sandpaper for my palm sander to do the other one and I will probably only do the front facing pieces because of the amount of effort involved.
  14. That is not high end that is second class stuff. High end would be Klipschorn's L/R, La Scala Center, Cornwall rears, and Heresy's in all the other positions. Look to other companies for quality subwoofers, Rythmik, HSU, Velodyne.
  15. Those are what the forum typically refers to as Cornwall 1.5's since they transitioned to the second version of the Cornwall II in '86. They will have the K-601 composite horn lens and the K-57K midrange driver and the B-3 networks if I am not mistaken along with the K-77M tweeter.
  16. Miller & Kreisel, they made nice subwoofers usually with an active driver and a passive.
  17. Burlington, VT area, leaves are starting to change great time to take a ride and see some beautiful colors.
  18. Still for sale I need to make some room and they are rarely if ever used which is a shame.
  19. These do not come around often and certainly not complete with the calibrated mic, user manual and original double boxes. 2/3 Octave in the lower bands and no noise at all I have owned many of them over the years. It will be gone soon guaranteed so if you want one of the best equalizers ever made. Act fast! https://www.ebay.com/itm/DBX-14-10-Computerized-Equalizer-Analyzer/154095044952?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  20. My brother in law has a pair of Cornwall 1's in birch with cane grills but I am not sure if he wants to sell them. He is in Laredo, TX. Check Craigslist there is always Klipsch for sale in TX.
  21. I can't believe those sold for $1150, I guess my stock went up in the four pairs that I own.
  22. You will have to alter your crossover network to use them they are not a drop in replacement.
