The OP might not be interested in the price range but "stupid" is inappropriate

Use a razor blade as stated! I don't know what I was thinking and used a box knife on one of my miters on a receiver cabinet which left a tiny gap. Fill and stain made it disappear 95% but it's still noticeable. I felt really stupid which is why you should never rush.

Yeah, I remember when I joined! I had 2 pairs of Cornwalls a week later. Hang around and we can help you spend your money.

Renter? Nice landlord to provide vintage stereo equipment!

Maybe I'm missing something but wouldn't you smoke it after that?

Bass traps can absorb up too high if you ask me. Tube traps add some nice diffusion.

He means the notches on the plates. Some 5ar4 Mullards have 4 and some have 7. Some Mullard 5ar4 plates might be smooth but I'm not sure.

Disconnect and reconnect. Clean connections in case there is any corrosion.

Started listening to the soundtrack... Great music destroyed by horrible remastering. No dynamic range left at all. I just don't get it. Somebody got paid to do that! I'll still go to the movie when I can though if I can make it while it is still in theaters.

Too much of a good thing

Your setup is going to be pretty revealing. Lousy recordings will sound lousy and good recordings will sound great! Personally, I'd avoid the silver stuff.

Hmmm... what model 70" Vizio was that I saw at SAMs for $699? Might have to go back.

I forget if it was the JJ or the Sovtek 12ax7 that always failed in my tester but worked fine. The tester was a Sencore Mighty Mite which basically just tells you "good" or "bad" and tests for shorts. All I really care about is if there are shorts.

Yes, you have sufficiently been broken in.

Personally, I'd rather not have a sub at all unless I can get it set up correctly. Placement matters a lot and 2 are better than 1.

Greg Roberts of Volti likes Border Patrol amps
muel replied to tube fanatic's topic in Talkin' Tubes
Neutral to me means that the equipment isn't calling attention to itself... gets out of the way of the music so to speak... not too warm and not too bright. Of course, those are all just words that mean different things to different people. If your amp is running hot enough to cook breakfast you might want to check the bias. If your amp is actually cooking breakfast I'm thinking you might consider separates. If you don't mind used I hear the Jetsons fired Rosie. -
I loaded Plex server on my NAS. Plex app works fine on ROKU.

Help modifying AA crossover to work with Volti Upgrade

by sheer coincidence the current price of the Vittora. -
I'm a little off topic but I recall hearing a french horn solo one evening (I'll eventually recall the ensemble) and the french horn was center stage as was I about 10 rows back... the sound was coming from stage right... FAR stage right. The sound waves reaching me were mostly reflected from the direction the horn was pointing. No point... just thought it was a cool experience.

You have an incredible set of drivers there! It's worth getting the crossover right! You will have speakers that sound like about $25,750. -

Those Beyma's need to be cut about 3db as well in my experience. -
Do non electrolytic crossover caps really need replacing?
muel replied to Mark51's topic in Technical/Restorations
I've heard people comment "rolled off highs" a couple of times... not my experience at all but no one has offered any data to support either way... not that I care... We hear what we hear... maybe.
