  1. And may you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead.
  2. I remember those, they were awesome…and the milk man. Looks like you can still get these, but not by a guy driving a "Charles Chips" truck to your front door. UPS maybe.
  3. From post #37 I'm still waitng for an explanation why wrapping a shielded wire in another layer of conductive material (foil) that I assume is not grounded helps to dissipate static discharges. Anybody?
  4. ES300? As in crossover from bass to mid at 300Hz? Really? Why? GotHover, are you on board with this?
  5. MercedesBerater, Is your amp rack a standard 19" rack? They sell blank panels cheap to fill the holes And whose rack couldn't use one of these: http://www.funklogic.com/palindrometer
  6. ^excellent post 2 posts above, thanks Islander. I would only add that a Tractix replacement horn is available for the squawker (midgange K400 or 401) that I and many others consider an improvement.
  7. Looks like at the 1.5 ohm output load setting you will get a little over 3 times the power out into 32 ohm headphones. That's about +5db. So a little more headroom. Bass is better, yea OK I can believe that. Why someone would not want that I don't know. Seems to me like we want to deliver the most power possible to the load, or at least have the ability to do so.
  8. I'm so bad I vacation in Detroit.
  9. The first attempted assassination of Pope John Paul II took place on Wednesday, 13 May 1981, in St. Peter's Square at Vatican City. Bad things have and do happen to Popes. And who's paying? You and me bro'
  10. It all depends what your amp can handle. Do you want your amp to see a 1, 2, 4 or 8 Ohm load? Yea I knew as soon as I posted this it of course depends on what you need/want. Silly question, my bad.
  11. Wasn't beer invented by the ancient Egyptians? Just sayin
  12. I'd assume so. I've been saying "tin" as opposed to "aluminum" foil for years. I guess out of laziness. Funny how things get ingrained in our culture, the product's been made out of aluminum for who knows how long but we all still say "tinfoil". It is not your laziness I don't think.
  13. Congratulations. Why'd you wait until so late to tell us? Afraid some of us might show up?
  14. Scrappy, Derrick et al, Which ones do you guys go with dual 2s or dual 4s?
  15. I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around why this works. Are we talking about the signal input cable being wrapped with tinfoil? Or the power cord? Or both? And then it is just floating? Anybody got an explanation? Oh and BTW its aluminum foil not tin right?
  16. I woke up this morning and I wasn't dead. Does that count?
  17. Isn't that the beer thing?
  18. Welcome Ali, Sounds like you will have an awesome new system soon. I am just curious are 'in ceiling' speakers possible or practical in your home? I think we here in the U.S. assume all houses are built with wood framing and finished with drywall on the inside. This makes retrofitting things into walls and ceilings relatively easy. But I know from my travels to Peru that not all homes are built this way. Again welcome and you owe me a beer.
  19. That's hilarious.... ....and true. Which came first the deafness or the horns?
  20. Generally speaking power amp/receiver outputs are not impedance balanced and speakers are not balanced inputs. Treating your speaker wire like a balanced line will do nothing. Heck why don't we shield it also? But that 4 conductor Knukonceptz sure do look nice.
  21. I was going to say when I saw your original alert YM that one would have to ask "Does it work?"
