  1. Steve, it is always dangerous to talk about something you are clueless about: Section 230 of Title 47 of the United States Code (47 USC § 230). "No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider." Further, federal law preempts state laws in this regard: "[n]o cause of action may be brought and no liability may be imposed under any State or local law that is inconsistent with this section." It is virtually impossible to hold the host liable for the actions of the participants under federal law Funny how we had a DMCA close us for 2 weeks last July from some posts at our place. I would call that being held liable, but seeing how I am clueless. Thank you for pointing that out. I had not noticed Also the world is a large place, who said it is only US law a web site software producer needs to think about ?
  2. In support of Chad, I am Admin of another (not sound related at all) site that uses this software. Also we were the primary beta testers for the IP-board software for about 2 years before Klipsch moved to using it here. In the initial version there was complete privacy for the system Email, PM and Chat room PM's (not all features of which are installed here) but soon we realized some possible legal issues. Because if we can view or not - does not matter to the courts - the operators of a place like this are still liable for posts made, so there had to be a way to comfirm/deny harassment, there is no "peek here" button, rather, as Chad stated: the Admin must access the database directly, and those privs are not automatic to all Admin, that priv has to be assigned to each staff member individualy by the system head. Maybe there is a option I am not aware of, but at our place a report filed includes a copy for referance of the post being complained about, which is sent to the "Moderator control panel", for review only by staff, so they can address the problem. But to comment about the privacy issue here, The "privacy invasion" issues of that report feature are no different than if that same member used copy/paste to send that post to others to read anyway, except as I priviously stated, for legal reasons we needed the ability to confirm or deny the OP and not a possibly edited copy and paste to base any "staff action". As Chad already mentioned, we dont have time for messing around spying on members either, so if a member abuses the reporting feature they may find they are no longer members, for wasting our time. If a staff member did it, they would be nailed to the wall so fast... None of that stuff has happened often, and we have 200 to 300 posts a day from over 160 countries at the other site. edited: I found more typos, which is no supprise to those the really know me, Dyslexic's of the world untie
  3. Maybe I am way off here, but since no one has brought it up yet, and I do not know enough about audessy, I will mention it. I play electric bass guitar, and found out a few odd things about standing waves. Standing waves are not just from the "target frequency", but can be created in multiples of the root as well. We had an issue in the studio a while back where my bass cabinet was creating waves that were effecting the guitars sound, when I moved the bass cabinet a little changing the angle of reflections, the problem was resolved. I repeat to be clear. My bass gear sounded fine, the guitars sounded fine, but a note I had played ruined the tone of the Les Paul but only when I played that note. I can only assume this was a result of phase cancilation from the guitars caused by a harmonic of the root tone I had played on the bass. I admit that accoustical physics in not my field.
  4. I do not regret getting my sw-115. It just took a while to figure out I needed the room boundry gain turned on. Plus move power switch from auto to full on for tuning with the Audessy
  5. done some radio work in my younger years. IF ya wanna get rich, buy a lottery ticket, the odds are better
  6. bi wire is not the same as bi amp... Just making an observation, in case you misused the term. Bi wire has little or nothing to do with the receiver
  7. i am very interested, not sure the wife will allow me the cash. Depending on what you want to trade.... I am in Ft Wayne, I dont suppose you have an interest in custom made damascus knifes, or need an electrician?
  8. Thanks guys, before I reset the system, I thought I would try turning the sw-115 unit to manual-on rather than auto-on. And checked the phase switch, which somehow got changed to -180, and that did the trick. The setup went as it should. Thanks. My guess was one of the nights I manually turned it off to avoid waking the wife I bumped the toggle by mistake. Thanks again
  9. I moved the side surrounds to just behind my ear position. So I figured a re-running the audyssey was a good idea, I have not moved the unit itself since I got it new. After hearing the normal rest tones from everything, it starts to compile the info it gathered, then I get a display of an "error reading the sub". but it does not state what type off error. After 5 tries, I gave up. I dont know what to do about it. I am using dynamic EX, and boundry gain. I wonder if its broken, or if there something I could be doing for to get it to run completely. It does seems to be using the old setting, and it doesnt sound bad this way. I worried about disconnecting the 6 month old sub and then being worse off and not getting it working at all later. So I left the Onkyo TX-NR609 setttings alone for now, and later may buy an Anthem but dont want to have to right now. This is just annoying that it wont let me run the program to finish. this is the first unit I have had with Audyssey. I was using a very old SONY PLII 5.0 before this. so I have no idea what I am doing with it other than what I have already done. Can I please get a comment on what I can do to get this sorted?
  10. In my room the sw-115 is more than enough. I can not imagine needing or even having another sub. FYI I play bass in a rock band. I do know what stage bass levels are. This sw-115 kicks with the best of anything I have used. It is nearly flat to 15HZ with the test tones I ran, even at 10Hz I could easily feel (I had no tones available inbetween these frequency's ) but there was a drop off in levels from the 15Hz tones. Also I must admit I have not listened to any SVS subs, so I can not comment on what they can or can not do.
  11. B- for a grade, try harder next time
  12. for the record Most residential home transformers are set for 125 volts per leg. 250 across the legs. Code allows a drop of 5% to the meter. Also code allows another 5% from there to the outlets. typically 115 to 125 volts is common in US residential. A bad nuetral will cause more havoc than most people can imagine. for what its worth, here in Indiana you may be supprised at how many homes are overloading a 100 amp panel. Most outdoor service lines are Aluminum. Connections are made via clamps, but when the weather gets cold fast they can "suck out" causing more trouble, So we have to make sure of solid connections when we hook up the over head lines. and I doubt at 70 to 90 volts that very many home appliances would function. Check again with another meter. Or better yet call an Electrician. JIW, IBEW 305 Electrician
  13. I had a rush/speical order come UPS. I was home waiting when the driver came, He was sneeky. I was sitting 5 foot from the front door, with a dog that goes nuts when anyone knocks. Went outside for a smoke and saw the note. We never heard him approach, knock or ring. So I drove to the UPS store to get the parts I rush ordered, and their computer says it was already delivered a few hours before. I ended up waiting there nearly 2 more hours for the truck to come in. While there I decided to talk to a manager about theft/fraud, ya see their computer said it was delivered about a half hour before the note got on my door. I was out side in front of my house at that time, I dont smoke in my house, So I knew someone was full of it. Driver faked the report times that day so he could finish on time, and deliver the rest the nest day. he didnt care they were paid extra, the 2 report times didn't match. Why do they bother keeping these people if they cant do an honest days work for what I paid extra ?

    Observation

My son and I went to a box store last night after supper to look for a new printer. While in there I had to look into the audio room to look around and saw what looked from the side like Palladium series speakers in there. I had to take a closer look. As I entered I got around to the front of those speakers and saw they had three 5 or 6 inch woofers, and then as I got closer, I noticed the pioneer tag on it, and its very low price tag. I thought it would take longer to have companies start to impersonate new designs, that group did take too long. Of course they were not playing at the time, the display system was the Klipsch Synergy system backed up by a 12 inch Sub. When a salesman asked if I was looking to upgrade my system. I said I am always looking, but just the printer today. I could not really tell him they dont sell anything that I think could be an upgrade to my reference series, that would be rude. But seemed odd seeing what looked at fast glance to be the high end Kipsch in there.
  16. was a nice present to see. thanks for making it Rock our world
  17. Thank you for sharing this, it never occcured to me this could happen. I reposted this information at a site I help manage as a warning to more people. thanks again
  18. Classic Stereo here wont deal Now I look at the forum classified, I didnt know about this place when I bought my stuff. but even with paying full price, I still got my moneys worth with them.
  19. I love my SW-115, and I did think about SVS.... but when I heard the SW-115 at the store which is about 6 blocks away, I brought it home with me for $900, and I am not even sure I want a second one, room shaking bass.
  20. clap clap clap Thank you Chad, Amy, and anyone else that helped get this sub section back.
  21. so many good deals around, and I could re vineer a black set easy enough, but this lay off is driving me batty (a short trip I know) never figured as electrician I would ever be out of work. I feel better about not buying yours, seeing how you miss them and want them back I may have felt slightly guilty keeping them. It would be great here if I had the 63s or 83's, then I could move the rb-35's to the rear and dump the old KLH I am using there.
  22. A nice rich dark brown wood finish, RF-63 ii could entice me to get a loan and buy new....
  23. interest, but no money, laid off still (longer than expected)
