  1. Mine must be in the "others" category! I just pulled on this screen with a small hook and it did not budge. When I shine a flashlight into the opening, the screen looks almost transparent.
  2. Enjoying a show from front row center places me at about the same distance as when I listen to my home speakers. I can't claim a qualified A-B comparison, but it does sound really good when listening to my Klipsch speakers afterward.
  3. I have not heard these yet, but logic leads me to think that the upgrades are worthwhile improvements, and if Chief bonehead says they sound better, then I believe that they sound better.
  4. That looks like it should be fairly easy to repair, after you do a dry run with your clamping method and you get a little practice with your epoxy on some scrap materials. Wearing some disposable latex or nitrile gloves is recommended.
  5. I think active DSP is a great idea. Your question is a good one, but do you remember the self-powered, active 2-way speaker that Klipsch exhibited at CES 2017 called The Fifteens. Forum members praised its good looks and new treble horn, with most of the commenters saying they would prefer an old-fashion passive version.
  6. I had the pleasure of visiting some beautiful people in their cool looking house. Here is a picture of their piano.
  7. I agree that I would first check for a bad connection where the wire connects to the tweeter or the crossover.
  8. Could you achieve your bass box goal by simply unplugging the midrange and tweeter drivers and insulating the wires? Then you won't need to plug any holes, and it will be easy to retrofit in the future.
  9. An enormous amount of heat is generated by the compressors used for air conditioning and also during the production of electricity used to run the air conditioners. Climate control is an upward spiral.
  10. It was the second thing I did. 🙂 First was to slip a putty knife into the gap and give it a nudge, a method that sometimes breaks it loose.
  11. Bi-amping will be easier now that the wires are in place. Glad to read that your bi-wire experiment was good for you.
  12. The speakers you made are looking good in the house you and your wife built.
  13. @AHall, thanks for posting the pictures.
  14. In the process of swapping out the woofer in a La Scala bass bin, I encountered the typical stuck-to-the-gasket, flush mounted access panel. So, after removing ALL the panel screws, I went and got one oversize screw and ran that into the panel about 5/8" deep. Then I used a small prybar to pull the panel up. It is not my original idea, many machinery parts have a threaded hole for the purpose of attaching a puller.
  15. This thread reminded me that I was still storing boxes for stereo gear that I have given away over the years. Time to clear some space.
  16. My Klipschorns were factory equipped with 12 gauge, high strand count OFC wires.
  17. The big speakers look good in your room.
  18. Thank you for sharing this interesting information about the effects of proper set-up and adjustment for optimum audio system performance.
  19. The new Cornwall IV looks awesome. Considering how other Klipsch speakers were improved using similar horn and driver arrangements and how the RF-7 series was helped with the introduction of the Tractrix ports, I imagine this new Cornwall is going to sound superb.
  20. I almost want to buy one, just to see the CNC milled foam insert of the shipping case.
  21. The wires are in parallel circuit configuration, but the tweeter load and the woofer load are different, so I think that the term "bi-wiring" is applicable.
  22. That is a cool idea, and better because there would not be the dark spots for the direct radiators. Vertical mount a 50" 4K TV monitor onto the front of each K-Horn bass bin and display beautiful images in stereo.
  23. Your information was helpful again.
