  1. It is technically better to limit the frequencies that are sent to each driver. A digital active crossover will allow you to have precise control.
  2. Do you have a picture of the wiring label that came with this AA x-over?
  3. This is what is inside the woofer door of an AK-2 model.
  4. I don't know how Klipsch did their Pro speakers, but spreading the mixed resin on a cabinet, laying glass mat and pressing it with a roller, then rolling more coats of resin is something you should be able to do in your garage or workspace. Use drop cloths, wear disposable gloves and ventilate the fumes.
  5. That is good to know. Also, as I understand it, the compression driver will produce a specified SPL @ one watt across its terminals, whether that watt is straight from the amp, or if it is filtered through a passive crossover network. Amplifier output required for an active system vs. through a passive network is a different subject, but either way, horn loaded speakers are still very efficient.
  6. The Faital Pro 2" compression drivers have been used in a few projects posted on the forum over the years, with good comments. One thing that concerns me is the advertised 900Hz minimum crossover frequency. I realize that is based on the unit's full power rating, but I am curious how many watts it can handle when used with a K-horn's 450Hz crossover.
  7. I have a few of those 2" throat 18 x 10 horns. I am thinking of trying a pair with K-55 drivers and 2" adapters.
  8. Chris, There are many different horns sold by eBay seller "zxpc". Most of their horns do not have model numbers, but are identified by size info, such as the model 11 x 17 ABS 2" long throw horn, pictured on the left, or model 2" throat horn 18 x 10, pictured on the right. Which one is written about in the above posts?
  9. Here is some info for you.
  10. The AL-4 crossover for the La Scala II is available new at a reasonable price from the Klipsch parts department at 800-554-7724.
  11. Going to an active crossover set-up may not be as easy as Chris A makes it look, but he will probably offer you lots of help, so choosing a brand and model that he recommends will be a step in the right direction.
  12. Or you can park the RV next to a lake. I went as a guest, so there were no maintenance concerns on my part. I told my friend that for what his RV cost him, I will be able to frequently stay in luxury hotels, dine in fancy restaurants and buy a bunch more Klipsch speakers for the rest of my life, but it was nice to camp in comfort at beautiful places that don't have hotels.
  13. The following quote is borrowed from the above referenced opinion. The majority “proceeds with an inexplicable sense of urgency,” the chief justice said, and it “breezily disregards the costs that its decision will impose on retailers.”
  14. Very helpful information. Fixed my similar multi-LED bulb dimming problem. Thanks
  15. The Marantz sounds good, is a good home theater control unit and has functioned flawlessly for years.
  16. The K-55 with an adapter to the horn allows using the original crossover. I used the AL-4 with the K-55. I am now using an EV DC-One active crossover and am experimenting with some 2" drivers. The K-55 is a good compression driver.
  17. I have a Marantz AV8801. If I got the urge for something new, I would get an AV8802A.
  18. I listened to some Forte III and then a pair of Cornwall III at opposite ends of the same room, each set using similar amps. I prefer the sound of the F III mid range horn.
