  1. "To me a chart is something Magellan used, a graph is the grease you use when dealing with city hall, and a plot is whats necessary to have a good murder mystery." Thanks for clearing that up for me. Was getting mightily corn-fused. Mark
  2. Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Ella Fitzgerald, are all wonderful through my La Scalas. However, everyone should enjoy what THEY enjoy and build a system that suits their tastes. I'm pretty sure no one hears what they hear exactly as I do. Mark
  3. I say find someone close to you with a pair of La Scalas and beg them to let you listen for a while. My modified Forte II's are in the garage wrapped in plastic after bringing my La Scala LSI's back to life. The total horn experience is breath taking. Mark
  4. Happy Birthday Michael!! Hope you're blowing the roof off your garage celebrating. Mark
  5. Please post as many photos as you can. I'd like to do a tube amp build as a winter project. Need to learn more before I try so seeing someone else's project sure speeds the process. thanks, Mark
  6. Must be the annual, "Honey, I thought you were selling those things?" Sale They do look nice and the price isn't too terrible.
  7. I use Pandora One at home and in my car. Works as well if not better than XMSirrius. Mark
  8. I gave the La Scala's a feel while playing at volume this evening. Did the bass make the braced bass bins vibrate? Yes. Frankly, the bass made the separate HF bins vibrate. Not sure what that proves or disproves. I do know the bass is tighter and more defined with the braces than without. Of course, your mileage my vary. Mark
  9. I'll check next time I crank them up. I know they sound solid when I rap them with my knuckle. Before they sounded hollow.Mark
  10. A coat of paint would help. You could choose any color as long as it's just one! Mark
  11. I have been considering building a brace that uses felt tabs so they are not permanent. Currently I have a cam shaped tool to assist the installation. http://www.fastlaneaudio.com/ez-brace-instructions..html I just installed a set of Dave's braces and used his prototype cam tool. Both worked perfectly. Really makes the bass sound more accurate to my ears. HTH, Mark
  12. Looks sweet! Please let us know how it sounds. Mark
  13. I have the Stealth DC-1 and a XDA-2 gen 2. The DC-1 is a much better dac IMHO. Seems smoother with more detail. The XDA exhibits connection issues with my Mac Book pro if I don't turn everything on in the proper sequence. MacBook, then XDA. The DC-1 connects regardless of start up order. Mark
  14. Congrats on your new family member! So sweet. Mark
  15. Just wanted to thank Michael for the KLPSCH tags. Looking good! Mark
  16. Are those set as two-way or three-way speakers? Bet they sound spectacular. Mark
  17. Here's an update. My wife was out of town for business last week. So I installed some updated components: New crossover networks, from DeanG Dual phase plug, solder lug K55V's, also from DeanG Eliptrac BE120 tweeters, from Dave at Fastlane EZ -Braces for the bass bins, also from Dave at Fastlane And My wife buys me a Marantz CD6005 player for my birthday. She listens to the CD player for the first time yesterday. Tells me the new CD player sure makes the La Scala's really sound much better than before. I say, "Thanks for the new CD player, it sure does sound great." I'm a bad boy. Mark
  18. Been there done that. I wouldn't take them home for a dime more than $300.00. Mark
  19. And that's really nice of him! He sure put some effort into his ad. Mark
  20. Yes again! Seems like the older I get the less time there is between them.. Thanks, everyone have a cold beverage of their choice, listen to your favorite song, and get a big grin on your face to help me celebrate. Mark
  21. Yes she is. :-)Now she's asking what music I'm adding to the library next. Mark
  22. I recently refurbished a pair of La Scala Industrial Splits. There's a thread about all that In the technical/modifications section. Today my wife decided to listen to the result of my labors. She loved hearing the Stones, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, and whatever else I could come up with as long as it was loud. Said it was the best set of speakers we've ever owned. I was shocked. She's really never shown much interest in my music hobby. And I've known her since 1975. She even thought my stories about PWK were interesting. What's up with that? Mark

    What I Got Today!

A nice pair of DeanG networks and a pair of dual phase plug K55V solder lug drivers. Networks: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/159483-my-type-aa-crossovers/ Drivers: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/159484-solder-lugged-k-55-v/ Also got to meet and talk with Dean. He's a walking lesson in Klipsch history. Really enjoyed the brief time we had to talk. Mark
