  1. And what about the Apple music and their quality streaming? See this... https://www.kenrockwell.com/apple/music.htm

    Horology...

Mine Eco-Drive does not have the lume nearly as good as Omega, but it is nice in its own way. In reality it is more green than blue, it is the camera.

I took a chance with my first Citizen. What initiated my interest in those is the battery drive supplemented with solar power, so the Eco-Drive is here. We will see about longevity, but these tend to run 10-20 years without a battery change if properly maintained. 43mm looks a bit large on my wrist, but clean design and black color make it look smaller.
  4. Well said everyone. I look back warmhearted to the time when this forum vibrated with good spirit and everyone willing to help. The knowledge of experienced Klipsch lifers was invaluable for newbies like me at the time. That good time was not so long ago. There was never much sense in prohibiting free discussions on technical subjects, mentioning of equipment of other brands etc. Clearly, mentioning and discussing Klipsch products were most frequent all over the forum, which can bring more good than bad for the brand. Shutting down leads to silence, and everyone in advertising knows that silence is more deadly than even a negative advertisement.
  5. Klipsch has some good headphones, you could browse a bit in this thread and see what others have to say about specific model. I do like to try before buying, and my local Klipsch offerings are not good. I also look for new and discounted if possible. So I recently went to a local audio shop and found heavily discounted Audeze LCD-1. Very easy to drive, perfect for a laptop. And better than conventional (dynamic drivers). Just my 2 cents.
  6. Have any one of you heard the difference in sound reproduction due to cable connectors? This is not "funny" question, just want to know if there is a difference in using expensive ones. Common sense is that connection should be good enough to enable good signal path. Do these connectors plated with beryllium, gold, silver etc. conduct better?
  7. Not sure. What components do you have in the system and how are they connected together?
  8. If both speakers are not working and you have the cables connected between the speakers and the receiver, the settings in the receiver might be the reason. 12 gauge cable is not too thick, just play it. I have 10 gauge cables in my systems and the sound is as good as any.
  9. Audeze LCD-1 headphones. Could not pass a discount, last pair in the shop. Always looking for things to try before buying, this time it was 15 minutes until the discount ends.
  10. I ride on iridiums spark plugs because of LPG, they are not that expensive.
  11. 60-80dB most of the time. Would like to go lower than that but my system/room do not allow for that.
  12. Direct bank payment if possible, when things get a bit pricey. For smaller amounts still PayPal, the high fees are not that important here.
  13. I always liked the design of their forks, very different from anything other bike manufacturers pt on their models. Classy.
  14. I tried plugging the rear ports of RF42 II. Just one of many attempts to make them less boomy. Nothing good happened except the did sound thinner. Speaker placement was a better route for them to sound more realistic.
  15. I have listened the systems with NAD 3020 when it was available new, and later NAD 316BEE. I had the feeling that both had much more power than rated. Nicely balanced amps, if that are the words to describe them. We used to say they have that British charm, not clinically sharp sound and yet enough musical information came out of them not to sound boring. In my opinion worth the try, they are not expensive.
  16. In my opinion, Privateering is a good album, The Ragpicker`s Dream also. Al the roadrunning with Emmylou is very good.
  17. Thanks Mr. Chief, that's a good starting point. Can you give some directions, where to find out more or may be steps to go from there? For example, if we do not have factory measurements of what the speaker is doing, and most often this is the case, could we start with measuring microphone and REW software, anything else?
  18. Cheap and relatively good and no need for a headphone amp are Sennheisers HD559. All of the cans in this lineup until 600 have the same sound signature. You will not be sorry for buying yours, but if after that you want more...there are lots of other stuff. Good thing here you can order separate pair of ear cushions when you need them. They are all relatively sturdy for a plastic cans, but if something broken, you wont loose much money and can get another pair. I have Beyers Pro, they are more sturdier, but at 250 ohm they need a separate amp.
  19. A bit off topic, but I have listened several of GoldenEar speakers in last couple of years. Almost all floorstanders perform very well.
  20. I did not follow the whole thread, but what are the "usual suspects" tho deal with when it comes to horn speakers in our quest for good imaging? I guess it depends on the speaker, i.e. a bookshelve with direct radiator and one small horn will not behave the same as LaScala. Then of course the room treatment. What else?
  21. I still have a pair of Infinity Qb from 1978. Replaced the capacitors and they do just fine. Philips mid-range driver and Infinity ribbon tweeter are very good. I wish the bass would be more defined, seems to me that heavy 10 inch paper diaphragm has limitations. But it is overall a good package. I keep them.
  22. I see Leica and Rollei, obviously she preferred European brands 🙂
  23. That is the softness of 400CN I remember 😄
  24. Giving the green light to Winston Churchill as her first UK prime minister goes quite a long time back, impressive life.
  25. I am sure many here can answer to this question better than me. The thing is the sound quality of new vinyl in general varies all over. A few of most important reasons are the source of music being pressed on vinyl and the production process or the facility where the vinyl is being produced. I have had good and bad experience from both, new and old vinyl. Old LPs were always washed in Okki Nokki before they went on my platter. I value my styluses 😀. In short, before buying any particular album on LP, I try to investigate a bit. Like going on Steve Hoffman forums etc.
