  1. OK--We all know amp separates sound better than AVR's. Mine is great for movies and music but getting the sound right for music requires some EQ and listening. The Audyssey for music, IMHO---BLOWS. I've been sitting here reading your expert advice and opinions about amps and AVR's and the such. Last night I was reading about First Watt Amps and Nelson Pass along with headroom and power and all that Jazz. I have an 85 Watt Denon and You know--these are geared for Home Theater Not Music---That's one reason Amps sound so much better--they're geared for Music. So I got a wild idea---I know, Hillbillies with wild ideas are dangerous. I'm looking for headroom, real sounding sound, ease of extracting sound from recordings with the Dynamics we all strive for. So I had my EQ set already--No Audyessy--turned the sound down and turned the mains to +12 on the L & R and played some music. What a difference--At any volume--the sound is so much better. Even sitting here and listening without any tone controls-- just the it comes from Pandora--Yeah--I know it's Pandora the sound is much more dynamic and clear than running the system at "normal" settings. I got the idea just to run the AVR Wide Open at any volume and for me, it paid off in spades. It sounds like a new system. YMMV--but I could not be happier--my system sounds great running this way.

    RIP Tom Petty

I thought they pulled the plug pretty fast. I wonder if my wife will be that quick ???
  3. Even though it has a smaller screen--4 inch-- the iphone 5SE--which has the power of a iphone 6 is 130 dollars for a Straight Talk at Wal-Mart. I'm buying one for the wife for Christmas. I love my 5SE--I use an Otterbox case for protection and that makes the size OK for me.
  4. I have 2 H-K 1565 5.1 channel AVR's for sale. They do not have all the Bell's & Whistles of today's modern AVR's but they sound great. These are not the digital models they sell today. Right now they're in my climate controlled storage unit and they could use a new home. You can look them up online if you're interested to get more info than I might give. H-K say's they're 70WPC in stereo and 50 WPC in 5.1. They're high current amps delivering up to 25 HCC Amps when needed. They do not run out of gas easy--They really do sound great. Anyway, I thought some forum members might be interested so here they are. HDMI v.1.4a with 3-D and Deep Color Powers an entire 5.1-channel surround-sound system 70 watts of power per channel Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™ decoding Logic 7 processing Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, Dolby Pro Logic® II and DTS processing Extensive audio/video connectivity Color-coded binding-post connectors Programmable remote FM/AM tuner. I'd take 100 dollars each and you pay shipping cost. The last one I bought they just sent the H-K in the H-K box with putting it in another box and it was fine. However since you're paying shipping I can buy a bigger box with air padding to ship it to you. If you're interest PM me and I'll give you my number so we can work this out. These are NOT network receivers. They don't do wi-fi or bluetooth. They're a little old school. I'm trying to give some Klipsch People a good deal on a good H-K AVR. Thanks for looking.
  5. Did you get replacement speakers? I have some I took out of my speakers. Their just sitting in a box with nothing to do. 1 inch aluminum drivers.
  6. I didn't think those speakers have been out that long to look so bad. Just wondering--do you other items around the house with this fungus or does it just affect speakers?
  7. As you're flying through space, your music will be provided by little Bose cubes. Space in Space has it's own problems.
  8. Is Musk going to be on this Moonshot?
  9. This sound you don't like--is that on video or music? Are you just running 2 channels? There is nothing wrong with plug and play after you run your room EQ. Many people here run Onkyo AVR's but I personally prefer a different brand because I find them to sound bloated and boomy. How does the system sound without the Accueq? Have you tried that? Does yours have a manual EQ where you can make all the adjustments yourself? If it does and you system sounds too bloated--you can do a little EQing to reduce the booming. In my system I use the Denon Room Correction for video and I do Not use it for music. For music I do a manual EQ with speaker level adjustments to get the best sound for my room. It might take you a little time to set the system to your taste--but have fun and experiment to see how good you can make your system sound. Welcome to The Forum--try not to spend too much money.
  10. Do you have any other speakers to test with?
  11. The X 1200 works fine for my home, you should not have a problem
  12. In the past few years I've had Yamaha, Onkyo, H-K, and Denon. We think the H-K and Denon sound better than Yamaha or Onkyo. I always thought my Onkyo sounded bloated. The Yamaha sound too flat--not enough dynamics. The H-K--older not the digital models--always sound good. My newer X1200W Denon sounds open and powerful and has all kinds of features.
  13. While I don't have your model--I didn't think my speakers were bright enough. I thought the highs were not there--for my taste---so I did the mods to make my speakers more lively---my mids and highs are much more in alignment and the speakers sounds more balanced for me.
  14. You could what I did--go to "accessories4less" and buy a refurbished unit. I bought a Denon for next to nothing and it has great sound and very versatile. My Denon is only about 80 or 85 watts and I have plenty of good, clean power. Shop there and see what you can find--BTW--I picked Denon over Yamaha because I think Denon sounds better with Klipsch Speakers.
  15. Do I have to mount them or just run a wire?
  16. I'd bet he hooked the speakers up to the TV. Silverfox--ONE cable comes from the TV into the AVR If you have a cable box or dish box--ONE cable from there to AVR input. Speakers connect to AVR--be careful with volume --keep it turned down when turning on. Pretty Simple.
  17. Talking about tube amp and massive power is pointless because he doesn't have his equipment connected correctly. Once some one helps him with the wiring--the good sound will happen.
  18. I use a Sony BR player for everything and it works fine for me.
  19. Oh Yeah, playing those subs in a Town house will make for good neighbor relations.
  20. Does that mean my wife is still my sister?
  21. I thought the questions were answered as good as expected. These Speakers come in at different levels and tout different properties and features. You have to decide what you can afford. You might not like what another person might like. it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.
  22. I doubt it---I would expect power numbers to be much lower that you expect.
  23. I would replace the tweeter---it probably is a good sounding speaker.
