  1. Hey @Hornographic I have a bunch of 78's if you want 'em. My oldest sister got the stand-up Victrola, my youngest sister got the desktop Victrola, and I got the Graphanola in pieces. I built a cabinet for it and now don't know what to do with it. Anyway, give me a yell if you're interested.
  2. Unfortunately, it seems that much of music history is recorded poorly or mastered poorly or maybe both. Some of it is thin, some has the bass rolled off, some is compressed all to hell. Mark Waldrep addresses this repeatedly. Our own Chris A (if I remember correctly) restores some tracks one-at-a-time with carefully chosen EQ adjustments.
  3. That’s mine at my workplace. A THTLP trimmed out like my LS splits, with removable wheels on both the short edge and the long edge. Handles too, and a built-in (and recessed) plate amp. Makes the splits look tiny. Boy, does that combo rock.
  4. I didn’t realize that. What were they thinking? I know what they were probably thinking, the spurving bearings in a lotus-o-deltoid configuration will capture it, but no, we’ve learned so much more since then.
  5. That’s a non issue. We start with a baseplate of prefabulated ammulite. I thought you knew that.
  6. I think they were originally made as PA speakers for a political candidate. I suppose that’s a form of theater, too.
  7. I wrote to Mr. Rogers in 1972 or 73 and he wrote back. I have the postcard that was typed and signed. He specifically mentioned what I sent him. It wasn’t just a form letter. I later read that he personally replied to all of his fan mail. I’ll have to post a photo of it.

  9. Need some polyester slacks to go with those.
  10. That’s just awful. Somebody ran it into the ground.
  11. Yep, one time out in the middle of nowhere I needed to tow a car and only had a section of chain that was too short but attached securely to his truck. My brother had another section of chain, also short, but we securely attached it to the car. We looked for a bolt to tie the two together but the best we could find in the truck bed junk was a master lock, so we used that to connect the chains together. As soon as he started pulling the car, the lock shattered.
  12. My soul is going to bed. My canine spirit guide is curled up snoring already.
  13. These are fantastic. So beautiful and you know they sound as good as they look.
  14. I'd power them up and give 'em a listen. They might not sound optimal but the chances of hurting anything are nil. It'd let you know if the other drivers are functioning or not.
  15. You can get round magnet K-77’s on eBay and maybe even around here. I’d match what is in the other cab. Or, not at all and sell as-is.
  16. I wouldn’t spend recap money if you aren’t keeping them. There are many options for capacitors and you can’t predict what a buyer might want. Where are you located?
  17. That’s also a great example of the hollow V.

  19. Early on a lot of people did mono only.
  20. Interesting. I'm the 2nd owner of my horns and the first owner says they are original. None of the following are mine, but I found these instances of the non-filled pie sides: https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649265610-klipschorn-speakers-circa-1960-with-rare-klipsch-emblem-excellent-all-original/ Here are some Cornwalls: And a K-55: And this:
