Suggestions on opening doghouse door on Pro La Scala's?
JBCODD replied to jimjimbo's topic in Technical/Restorations
If ya have a heat gun and a thin blade, sharpened putty knife, use the heat gun to heat the knife blade, then work it around the seam. It will take time and effort, but this will minimize damage to the wood. Some thin plastic wedges will keep the parts you have separated from re-adhering. Take your time to prevent any splintering. Patience and slow, even pressure are the key. -
According to their Linked in page: About us Alaska Distillery is a small batch distillery located in the foothills of the Alaska Range, where we handcraft spirits with ultra-pure glacier water and the finest grains and ingredients. And fewer than 10 employees. So prolly hard to get.

HiFiShark.com or USAudiomart.com may be a good place to list them. AVSForum as well, but they reguire a $25 membership to list or buy. -

bhenry: There is a muldoon in the Phoenix area who repairs sub amps. http://edwardselectronics.net/contact--feedback.html I have not used his services, but other forum members have, and were pleased with his services. Apparently you send him the amp and a check, and he sends it back fixed.

Phoenix area. Ad states that the seller has the original woofer, but it needs re-coning.

Went down an internet rat hole on stereophile mag and read some well written articles. Most interesting. But then , for FTFOI, I tapped an ad for a high end turntable. The derping in the ad was incredible! Holy Adjectives, Batman! See below: Custom Features The № 515 features a gimbal-mounted, 3D-printed tonearm with integral headshell, stainless steel counterweight, and discrete internal cartridge lead routing. The tonearm is mounted to a rigid machined Aluminum arm base featuring a precision calibrated vertical tracking angle with on the fly adjustment. The Mark Levinson “knob inspired” stainless steel record weight and felt platter mat ensure maximum stability of playback. How does one become "knob inspired"? At one point in my Army career, I was the Wardmaster of the Urology Clinic at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Knob inspiration was not a recognized diagnosis. Good heavens. I think I'll stay with a Yamaha set up.

I can hear them now: Chip: "I think we should make come new crossovers for the Fortes" Dale: "Shall we?" Chip: "Surely!"

Yes, they are the 1's. The LaScala II have a separate top enclosure for the mid and treble horns. I've got a set of 1978 scala's which reveal new musical details to me each time I use them. (I've had them about a year now)

Houston: The Eagle has landed. I say again, the eagle has landed. The lights turn on and it said hello. I will read the manual and begin integration on my weekend. Let me rate the whole experience: Easy Peasy. Article arrived early, as pictured and described. The only possible thing I could find to whine about was a chip out of one of the expanded polystyrene packing spacers (OEM, not after market or improvised) but this functionally irrelevant defect was more than covered by the liberal and judicious application of bubble wrap, in an assortment of calibers. The carrier had no chance of breaking this item. Well packed, my friend. Thank you Tidmack, a pleasure doing business with you. JBCODD

But please don't use it on a ladder. That would be like begging for the nickname "Nubby" or "Lefty".

The Three Things That Suck Most About the Beatles
JBCODD replied to thebes's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I can't do it because I gave away all my Beatles albums years ago to a ***** shooting club. Note(for some reason the forum sotfware won't let me spell out the word to the type of club where they shoot clay pigeons. Wierd.) Grasshopper: The reasons you seek can be found on a journey "To the windows" or perhaps "To the walls". But you must journey no farther, for in the immortal words of Jerry Chick "That's gonna itch when it dries". -
