greg928gts
I'd like some honest feedback about the color choice for the grills. I thought they were going to be more Maroon (from the sample), but they have a bit of Mauve to them, and I'm not sure I like the color. Please click on the pictures below for a bigger and better picture. Greg
greg928gts
The pictures aren't showing the color of the grilles quite like in person. They are more Mauve in person. Pinkish Purple. Greg
greg928gts
This is actually a center channel for my Khorns. The veneer is Koa, and an unusual grain pattern even for Koa. Greg
Deang
I'm color blind, so I can't help you -- but man, those look nice regardless!
greg928gts
After years of restoring speakers for others, I finally am doing my own. I have the Khorns veneered too, just waiting to build the mid horns before putting grill cloth on. Greg
soundbound
Beautiful!
Bill H.
I think it matches beautifully, and goes well with the swirl marks of the KOA wood....................JMHO. But I do see what your concern is with it's slightly pinkish/purple tint..................It also may just be the lighting and the contract off the white walls. Moderators dtel Posted December 28, 2008 Moderators Share Posted December 28, 2008 Not sure about the cloth color, but the Wood looks unbelievable, really nice. Ignore the unsure part, my wife laughs at me when I try to match clothes. I love the wood !
djk
Klipsch used to have a brown cloth with a touch of green in it that looked real good on the rosewood Klipschorn and Belle.
Blvdre
Judging by the pics, (IMO) it's not a good color pairing (yellow w/ pinkish purple). BTW, beautiful work as always.

edwinr
If you want honesty Greg, I think black grill cloth would look better.
Kudret
Awesome work, as usual, Greg. Klipsch used to have a brown cloth with a touch of green in it that looked real good on the rosewood Klipschorn and Belle. Is this what you are talking about djk? There are alot more hi-res pictures here. Kudret
Groomlakearea51
Greg, those are really beautiful "as is". I think with that spectacular grain pattern, the #17 black or #13 brown would be too "muted" and not compliment the grain. What do they look like in "daylight"? PS... If you are simply unhappy and distraught over that choice... well... I'll go ahead an take them off your hands. Besides we don't want you to be in pain over that issue LOLOLOL!!!!!![A][]
Jim Cornell
I think black would be choice. Nice finish. Jim
Tony Reed
I'd try black.
greg928gts
I appreciate the honest feedback. I'm familiar with the brown/green cloth, but I never really liked that color. Just plain brown or dark brown I like. Black is an easy choice, but I was trying for something different. Something unique. I brought my wife over to the shop today to look at it in person, and she likes it. I like it too, but I'm a little leary about the pinkish purple coming out a little more in bright daylight. Our living room is not too light, so I think it will be o.k., I'll go ahead and do the Khorn grills with it too. If I ever want to change them, it only means about 20 hours of labor. Bottom line, the wife likes the color and she's excited about the Khorns making a return to the living room. I'll take it! Greg
