The older I get, the less some things seem to make any sense!

Few consumers of medical care are aware that a new insurance coding system recently went into effect which is so specific that many docs are pulling out their hair (assuming they still have some left) trying to match services with a patient's complaints so they can get paid.  Along with this, many new codes were generated including these:

I understand that things have to change, but I'd love to meet the bureaucrats who came up with this stuff.  Sorry to stray from my forum "neighborhood" but I couldn't resist!

I work for one of the larger insurance companies that has had to implement this new system, at our expense.....(which has run into the many tens of millions of $$$)  The Information Technology and systems work has taken over 2 years alone, not to mention everything that preceded it.  It's going to take some time for the doctors, nurses, hospitals, etc, etc, etc to come up to speed on the new codes, and there is a multitude of training available for them, that is being provided by the health insurers.  It's not an overnight change, but it was bound to get bad press anyway.

No codes for "shocked while servicing amplifier"????

Carl, how about electrocution?

To the best of my knowledge, however, a person can only get electrocuted once based on its definition!  Not quite sure why it is specified as an initial encounter.

Time for a cup of tea................
