thebes
2018's Rock and Roll Hall of Famers: • Bon Jovi • The Cars • Dire Straits • The Moody Blues • Nina Simone Award for Early Influence: • Sister Rosetta Tharpe Maybe I'm being picky, but although I like some of their music, The Cars and Bon Jovi in particular, don't bring out my inner rock. Well to be fair, Nina Simone is not a rocker, but man what a voice! Of course, The Moody blues, "in Search of the Lost Cord" is a seminal work in rock and roll, and one of my all time favorite albums, although I seldom listen to it anymore. So has Hendrix been voted in yet?
jimjimbo
I guess they figured if they didn't vote in Bon Jovi, no one from New Jersey would visit the Hall....

Believe it or not they are a 501(c)(3), they have been helpful to Klipsch Museum. Seems like it is all about the TV show.

They run a high operation over there, lots.of corporate and record company support, they can afford to live like kings.

Moderators Travis In Austin Posted December 14, 2017 Moderators Share Posted December 14, 2017 There are two nonprofits, One is the Museum in OHIO, and the other is the Rock and Roll HOF Foundation and they are based out of NYC. I believe that is Jan's deal and they pay royalties to Museum for doing the TV show.

gottajam
The "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" inducted groups such as Run DMC and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five before they inducted Rush. That right there tells me everything I need to know about their views.

thebes
Great music. Played it all the way through. They have some re-issues out on vinyl I'm going to put on my list, if I've been naughty (yeah! or nice (booo!). Sadly, since they are not a real band, just a studio project, they cannot be inducted. I think they call it the "Ruggles Band Rule"

BigStewMan
No objection to The Cars and Moody Blues. Neutral regarding Dire Straits. I said for years that I would boycott until YES and Alice Cooper got in. Well, they’re in and I still find that I don’t really care about the place. I’ve never asked any rockers that I’ve talked to about the HOF at all; but, I suspect that it probably doesn’t mean all that much to them. Other than the required complimentary statements upon induction, have any of you heard someone in the HOF talk about it being very meaningful? I”m curious now.
