BigStewMan
Bozo was the King of Clowns. RIP Mr. Bozo.

Did you watch them in color Elden? Did you know that Bob Keeshan also played Clarabell the Clown on the Howdy Doody Show? I still remember my shock when I first saw the Lone Ranger in color at the movies. Watching all those black & white TV episodes did not prepare me for his powder blue outfit. Apparently, the powder blue filmed better for TV under the harsh light of black & white TV cameras.
Moderators dtel Posted March 23, 2018 Moderators Share Posted March 23, 2018 I don't remember if it was color or not, I only somewhat remember the Howdy Doody Show, but I do remember the song, I never knew that about the clown.
muel
We didn't get a color TV until the moon landing... to watch in black and white.
DizRotus
"Color TV" is a retronym, of sorts. I doubt you can buy a black & white TV. Dire Straits' Money For Nothing is now dated by the reference to color TVs.
Moderators dtel Posted March 23, 2018 Moderators Share Posted March 23, 2018 I do remember being the remote for my dad's TV, for all 3 channels, 4 when PBS was on.
BigStewMan
I’ve been on television ... in color too. No, they didn’t invent color television just for me. 1
JJkizak
I believe one of those clowns used to be a bad --- marine sargent in the invasion of Iwo Jima standing up in a hail of bullets directing marines, one of them being Lee Marvin. I saw/heard this many years ago in an interview with Lee Marvin on television. JJK

RoboKlipsch
I was on the show in Chicago as a kid. Of course like many of us also I also played bozo buckets at numerous birthday parties. Great show for the time!

I just checked Google and the story proved false but I was watching Johnny Carson with Lee Marvin and he said just that about Keesham but the service records do not confirm that story. HDBRbuilder
As for Bozo the Clown, each TV station had their own person playing the part of Bozo, if they had Bozo at all.
