Basically, the signs were covered in soot, and you could see the drip lines going down them from when it rains. Eh, that's just a bit of break dust and burnt rubber on those signs, nothing to worry about. 😀

I forgot, even though it is hotter than hell in the summer, no fires in Las Vegas, but we do get your smoke.
oldtimer
But its a dry heat, like an oven. Who doesn't like that? (oops. besides the historically obvious, no offense meant)
BigStewMan
hot is right. I remember once driving to Vegas from LA and the a/c busted on my brother's 240Z. now that was a miserable drive, almost as bad as these hookers soliciting us at 6:00 in the morning. On the positive side, won enough money to have the a/c fixed so the drive home was much more enjoyable.
oldtimer
I remember driving through the desert with the top down at night and nothing could possibly be better. Stopped and slept in the Petrified Forest. No hookers though.

My mighty 25 year old Lexus LS400 sat for three hours on the I15 in 110+ heat in July without moving and never stopped blowing cold air. We saw others have to roll down their windows. The AC has never been serviced or touched on this car.
Shiva
a year or two ago, I was in Vegas, stepped outside during one summer day and within a few minutes, noticed something I had never felt before. I started to feel a slight burning on my face, only to discover that the plastic frames of my sunglasses were getting so hot that they were becoming uncomfortable to wear. That is a tad too hot for my tastes.

BigStewMan
I actually like Vegas ... probably too much to live there, I don't want to spoil my enjoyment of the casinos. Used to go a few times a year ... many bowling tournaments at the old Showboat. I did learn to not drive home on Sundays ... that traffic in Barstow was frustrating. Head home Saturday or Monday.

oldtimer
I've been there too. For some God knows what reason, my step brother loves it there. It's Ok to visit, don't get me wrong, but ffs it's not a hotbed of intellectualism.

One of the lifelong valet parkers asked what I was trying to study and I said engineering. He explained to me that I was an idiot and should just go inside and fill out an application to become an 'engineer' which is what they call the maintenance men at the hotels. He had no idea that there are people in the world that have a scientific background and design everything around you. That said, every day I deal with very smart people here but I am tucked into a very specific part of the world.

They build interiors of restaurants, office buildings, and have hi-end residential clients, all masonry and decorative concrete. I know it's a huge change from a medium sized midwest city. Housing cost are astronomical. It's mainly in the Hollywood, Burbank, Beverly Hills, Pasadena, Glendale, and north LA areas. I know there's a huge group of people leaving Cali, most going to Texas, Las Vegas, and Florida. I spent 4 days there last week with their crews and liked the place MUCH more than I thought I would have. I know everyone has an opinion. let's hear them..... You are CRAZY!!! But im out in the sticks and love it. Its all up to you! I like Indy. Its easy to get around. And I love this place when I come to Indy! http://www.brozinni.net
Bosco-d-gama
As a preschooler I recall being downtown in Los Angeles and not being able to see across the street due to pollution. The closer to the beach the better. Those onshore winds blow the smog inland. It did get much better as I got older. But once you get away from that region and see unpolluted sky you realize just how smoggy the Los Angeles basis is...... and how truly blue the sky can be. oldtimer
California rejects. It really is true. I lived for a couple of years as a kid in the seattle Tacoma area. Bunch of assholes for the most part. Remember the network show Seattle? LOL.
